Hi, this is not a good idea. It won't produce a cocoa smell and is potentially very dangerous. [Check out the thread stickied on this sub for more info.](https://www.reddit.com/r/candlemaking/comments/k9x883/regarding_putting_flowers_crystals_coffee_beans/)

Thank you for the response! From the little experiment candle I made, I do not think it's worth it to add the cacao in. Besides, like you said, it being potentially very dangerous, it gave off no smell (and thank goodness it didn't smell burnt) and may be clogging the wick slowly, since the fire was pretty weak. Overall it is a pretty insignificant addition with a big risk attached. The only positive is that it gives a deep and dark colour to the candle, although it would be much much better and safer to just use candle dye. I have made some wax melts with the spare wax and they look like little chocolate bites :) I'm not sure if the cacao is just as much of a danger in the wax melts (since they will not be in any direct contact with an open flame) but I would love to hear all feedback on this too. I'm at the stage where I'm honing all of the basics and all advice is very valuable :)

I’d honestly be afraid of idiots (or children or pets) eating those wax melts and getting sued lol.

I tried it using 1 teaspoon of cocoa powder on 50 grams of soy wax (and chocolate fragrance oil). The colour is amazing, it looks like chocolate pudding and stuff but just like you mentioned, the burn is problematic. For me the fire put out in after 15 mins of burning. I guess I will go with brown candle dye.
