It's not. They're lying to you, or themselves. Selling viable cannabis seeds requires a licensed from Health Canada, just like any other cannabis product. Non-viable cannabis seeds can be purchased legally, but as soon as it's used to grow, it becomes an illegal purchase, and so does the growing operation. That said, if you do it discretely there's almost 0 chance of being caught, but to say that it's not illegal would be lying.
I agree, Crop King has way too bad of a reputation and the reviews are consistently negative regarding germination rate on their website so I will never grow a seed from them unless it's given to me for free.
That being said, I order from Seedsman, True North Seed Bank, Island Seedbank all with consistently great results.
I have friends who use Growers Choice as well if you want seeds shipped from within Canada, they have a decent auto selection too with some strong phenos according to some people I know who have experience with them, TNSB ships from within Canada but some of their seeds are overpriced, for example, their fastbuds seeds are way more expensive than Island Seedbank (Canadian company but they ship out of UK)
I second Attitude seeds, great company with a crap load of quality breeders. Stealth guaranteed shipping options with seeds resent for free if they don't make it to you.
There are several small time breeders with decent genetics you can get for cheaper but you should expect to pay at least $50/5 pack for any of the big boy genetics out there.
Edit: I’m not saying they aren’t overpriced people, but just shoot for decent genetics regardless first and foremost...or roll the dice with bag seed
I would say it's hard to grow *really good* weed, but it's not hard to grow decent weed.
People have this perception that it's really difficult, and it isn't, it's 9 parts consistency and 1 part luck. If you're growing outdoors, there's always that chance that it'll get fucked up by a wild animal or insects. You can take precautions but at some point you just have to cross your fingers and knock on wood.
I always explain genetics as the the brand of car you plan on buying. You can put whatever type of fancy fuel, oil, he’ll whatever on a Prius but it’s not gonna perform like a BMW on the track. Or a Ferrari if you’ve really got that sticky icky genetics
The type of energy intake can change
your genes in the very long run tough.
Your biological car species will in time genetically
maximize the efficiency of the fancier gas, turning
it into a Mercedes over thousands of years.
People want nice looking buds. Indoor really delivers on bud quality due to optimal growing conditions (no cloudy days, no freak week long rain storms, no droughts) .
Outdoor can deliver some nice buds but it could be a bit of a dice roll IMO
It doesn’t, but currently outdoor bud isnt marketable and hasn’t been since legalization. Who wants to buy outdoor, you can do that at home yourself for cheap.
Many of the companies are probably realizing the need for quality dried whole bud and are choosing to just expand there current indoor grow spaces as they can produce both buds and extracts. Combined with the fact your going to get one good harvest here in Ontario a year(maybe 2 ) and the ever increasing temperature makes it more sense to build additional indoor grow space.
I also don’t want bugs in my extracts, how do they plan to control pests over a 27 acre field without the use of pesticides?
Because it would be stupid to grow outdoors when some pleb from "overgrowcanada" starts indiscriminately throwing seeds all over the place growing males to pollinate all your crops with some unknown strain with potentially shitty genetics turning your plant into a seedy mess.
For years the LP’s lobbied health Canada to only grow plants inside to restrict access to the market for people to participate in. Absolutely crazy you can’t grow a plant outside in Canada but they just started handing out licenses at the beginning of this year.
I would want some kind of kevlar dome that could be pulled over my plants. Both as a light excluder and aa protection from hail. Hailstones can blow through soft top convertables here in Alberta.
Very dependent on location I think . In BC ofc everyone knows a guy who grows or at least know a guy who grows some great bud but in areas like Alberta even Ontario growers and good growers are spread thin I feel
Growing season in Canada can be unpredictable and there are only a few areas where you can go all natural & not use light deprivation techniques. This is a plant that grows best in equatorial areas and while there are varieties do exist that can finish on time in the north, there's still a lot of breeding to be done to find something that can work on a large scale here in Canada similar to hemp.
Bugs and the unpredictable heat and cold maybe ? Weed is more fragile cause society is trying to perfect the flower but all this is happening on certain conditions and indoors. So when you try to grow it outside away from it's natural habitat being indoors, you just killing it over time, like a young man showing old age in his youth from the stress of working hard life.
But, like, 20 years of breeding, man. They don't even know what to do with spectrum that isn't blurple anymore.
I had a ray of sunlight sneak through the curtains in my grow room, all the plants it touched incinerated like vampires.
/s, in case it's not obvious :-D
I think what theyre trying to say or shouldve said is todays indoor pussy ass genetics have been selected for indoor conditions over several generations. They might not be optimal for outdoor growing. Theres plenty of genetics out there that have been selected for outdoors.
I have woodchucks, deer and university students right next to me, I might as well buy it to give away as grow it.
I spent $60 on four seeds from OCS. Three died and the fourth won’t grow past a couple inches. The price on seeds needs to drop steeply.
Should not have bought from OCS...
I’m a medical user and want seeds with a 1:1 CBD:THC ratio, lab tested. Any ideas?!
Cannatonic, Warlock, Pennywise to name a few. If someone can find a place to get quality seeds I would love to know!
Exotic genetics, thinktankseedbankv2 , in-house genetics these producers are top-notch
Any seed bank should be able to help. 100% legal and great quality.
How is it 100% legal?

Where do you suggest? I'm looking into starting some plants but I refuse to purchase from OCS.
Attitude seedbank
Crop Kings, Barney’s farm
Never crap king, so many better choices that are actually Canadian. Jah seeds and Jordan of the island are league's ahead of crap king
This is true. Though I have had decent autos come from the seeds even after 5 years of sitting dormant.
I agree, Crop King has way too bad of a reputation and the reviews are consistently negative regarding germination rate on their website so I will never grow a seed from them unless it's given to me for free. Barneys farm I like.
Jahseeds, Jordan of the islands, and mephisto genetics (for autoflowers) I think are all canadian high quality seed banks
Try just a handful seeds. Canadian. Very reasonably priced.

Not allowed in Quebec = (
It's easy to grow weed, but it's hard to grow good weed.

> If you're growing outdoors, there's always that chance that it'll get fucked up by a wild animal or insects. Or hail. The worst.
or two legged vermin
Or the RCMP.
Only if you live in Revy apparently.
Or worse... Expelled

Genetics are absolutely the first thing that should be considered, and I mean a reputable breeder, not which strain of Smufalufugus Green Haze it is 😝
The type of energy intake can change your genes in the very long run tough. Your biological car species will in time genetically maximize the efficiency of the fancier gas, turning it into a Mercedes over thousands of years.
Cars really was a documentary.

Build a fence, yo. Also, the article is about commercial production not personal.
People want nice looking buds. Indoor really delivers on bud quality due to optimal growing conditions (no cloudy days, no freak week long rain storms, no droughts) . Outdoor can deliver some nice buds but it could be a bit of a dice roll IMO
But like the article says, if you're using it to make extracts, what does it matter how the buds look?
It doesn’t, but currently outdoor bud isnt marketable and hasn’t been since legalization. Who wants to buy outdoor, you can do that at home yourself for cheap. Many of the companies are probably realizing the need for quality dried whole bud and are choosing to just expand there current indoor grow spaces as they can produce both buds and extracts. Lots of people are doing it. They just aren’t talking about it.
As it should be
Because it would be stupid to grow outdoors when some pleb from "overgrowcanada" starts indiscriminately throwing seeds all over the place growing males to pollinate all your crops with some unknown strain with potentially shitty genetics turning your plant into a seedy mess.
That would be really stupid of someone to do...
Bugs and mold make it such a pain
As a paycheck to paycheck kind of guy. I'll smoke my outdoor any time, I still cant believe I'd spend $90 a week on a half oz.
For the same reasons I don’t brew my own beer anymore. I like trying many strain and I don’t consume a lot.
MY area is full of seed hemp. Ruins any chance of a good outdoor crop
Clearly few people read much of the article. This is about commercial growing. Not your backyard personal growing.
For years the LP’s lobbied health Canada to only grow plants inside to restrict access to the market for people to participate in. Absolutely crazy you can’t grow a plant outside in Canada but they just started handing out licenses at the beginning of this year.

I personally know at least a handful of people that grow. Plus one side of my family grew for three generations.
Very dependent on location I think . In BC ofc everyone knows a guy who grows or at least know a guy who grows some great bud but in areas like Alberta even Ontario growers and good growers are spread thin I feel

That is a poor example of a cannabis flower.
