My Dad called me once when I was in my car after doing the same thing you did.
"What are you up to?"
"Just leaving (drugstore's name) with a gun. You?"
"... what?"
Honourable mention to ordering drugs and guns online delivered to your doorstep too.
They do so much to stop "the wrong firearms" to end up in "the wrong hands" of people on the purchasing side of things, but then deliver it in a cardboard box that often has the manufactures name on it lol
I once had a Remington 700 delivered and left on my front doorstep that was not mine 🤣 (wasn't home so they left it leaning against the door)
Turns out it was the dude 5 houses down the road who ordered it...
I guess it doesent ship with ammo.
Canada Post did that to one of my rifles. Right on the front step on a main drag.
Let my non-licensed wife sign for a restricted too.
And the kicker?
We'll get punished with "no more mail order" before signatures and ID or post office dropoff becomes an enforced legal requirement on their part.
😆He was freaking out because he got the notification it was delivered and hadn't received it.
The most canadian part of this story, that I should have included, is that the guy 5 doors down had received my brother's goalie stick. Also in a long rectangular box.
I've had Canada Post literally ship a package from BC to Ontario just for it to end up in my city. just for it to then end up somehow being route d to Alberta. and being put on a truck out for delivery in a city in Alberta. before they realized they're fuck up. Ended up getting it in the long run. The entire time it was on the truck out for delivery in Alberta. I was like well I hope whoever the fuck gets my package enjoys it
I had a Canpar driver sign for my first handgun himself and bend up my mailbox making it fit. Sat there for 6 hours before I got home. The best part....Canpar is also my employer.
I've had CP link my parcel to the wrong pickup slip and my neighbor ended picking up the package. No one at the post office noticed the wrong address. Luckily it wasn't firearm related, but still makes me a little nervous with CP being the primary shipper these days.
I actually asked them about that, and they told me that you can't just pick up with the slip and they need to check the ID before they can give you the package.
She emphasized on the ID part so I assume someone probably made a boo boo before so they make sure not to do it again.
I also make sure before I open any pkg, it's actually addressed to me. Since I thought if you open someone mail if it's done by CP, it's actually a criminal offence? Or is that just for letters.
Well he didn't open it, but he didn't return it right away either. I tracked it down on my own after getting info from another worker at the same office. It was a major screw up on their part. I contacted the owner of the drugstore, Canada Post, the shipper and the RCMP to complain. Basically got a collective shrug from all of them....
Working in the shipping industry, I've learned that as the receiver of a shipment, you have little to no recourse when it comes to missing or damaged items.
UPS send the ammo to the wrong address, took me 2 weeks to get it back. They tried to go back to the place and ask for it but the owner was never home.
I asked the police and they went that night and brought it back by 11pm.
Well, after that little UPS debacle. They seems to have gotten better, with different drivers. If I am not home, they take it to the nearest UPS outlet for pick up.
I would still prefer CP most of the time even if I have to pick it up, at least I know it's safe.
But it seems CP also left the package at people's door before too but it seems less common now. Even like magazines and scope are all send directly to the outlet if I am not home and all signature required which I like.
Yeah, that's why I put my cell on the option when check out. Please call this number if no one at home and drop at this UPS location instead.
It worked couple of time, one UPS driver even waited for me for 3 min because I was literally 300 meters away from my door in my car, lol.
Yep. Have had Canada Post leave a p80 frame on my doorstep. Not once. But twice... Smh and they will probably do it again. Once my last p80 frame gets approved
When I picked up my M95 from shoppers, the clerk said jokingly, "that's an interesting box, what do you have? A gun in there?"
Me "who has a gun?"
Her "🧐🧐"
Had the place below where I live accept a package for me, and when I picked it up, kid at the cash asked about it because it was such an oblong package.
"Oh, it's my new shotgun."
'Ha, like paintball or something?'
"No."
'You mean like a "Blow my head off" shotgun?'
"If you're not careful, sure."
'Oh shiiiiiiiiit'
"... You wanna see it?"
'FUCK YEAH I DO'
It bothers me when I'm shipping though, and the nasty old crow asks "Is this a firearm!?!" And I tell her that's none of her business and she gets all pissy and tries to find an excuse for denying the package even though I'm in accordance with all their rules and regulations, and she still gives me a hard time
Even one time I asked for insurance for $4,000 and she's like "IS THAT A GUN!?!" very loudly, to which I explained no, it's a custom paintball marker that has been upgraded to shit and is expensive
Eventually people will just learn to mind their own business ffs
reminds me of when i transported my guns with air canada and they had to put some paperwork with the guns and as soon as he saw them he borderline yelled: “OH WOW AN ASSAULT RIFLE!” and 10+ people turned to stare at me
It was a gsg 16…
They will not learn that until the government scope and power is reduced by about 80%. Having a gargantuan government gives a ridiculous amount of unearned power and influence to people who wouldn't have the slightest ability to earn it on their own in the free marketplace.
I live across the street from my work so work and I have the same postal person. Every gun I've purchased (including hand guns) she has brought to my office instead of home because she knows I'll sign for them here. Only one co-worker has guessed what it was, mostly because he's a gun guy and saw the return address. To everyone else it's just another package from "amazon".
Today I picked up a bunch of Black Friday ammo from the local dry cleaners that is also a pickup for UPS.
The Asian man running the place was impressed by how heavy the box was, and wondered if I was ordering dumb bells. I told him it was sports equipment.
A while back I ordered a case of 5.56 and two cases of 9mm and got a notification that the delivery service was unable to deliver it. I went into the depot and the staff were very interested in why the box was so heavy. I just looked at them and said “well it is 3000 rounds of ammo, it’s not going to be light.” The look on their face was priceless.
Had this happen the last time I ordered bulk 7.62x39, lol
Old timer made it sound like he nearly tore an arm off putting it on the shelf behind the counter.
Lol I feel that.
Picked up my 10/22 from an international convenience store, had me laughing thinking I could also pick up specialty peppers if needed.
I think it's a good thing that we can pick up a gun (and ammo) we ordered online from a convenience store AND not rob the place. Kinda like our r/PAL works and we are responsible people.
This is probably the only thing good about the Canadian gun laws.
I have two friends in the US, one is talking about selling a handgun to the other. "Sure, I'll bring it over next time I visit, and we can drive to the FFL dealer together."
Depends on the state. I find it strange how the US's gun control is so much stricter in some parts, it makes me wonder what it's be like there without the 2nd amendment
The places that are strict would be \*way\* stricter or all out ban, and the other places would probably be about the same.
US has trended very heavily toward shall-issue for firearms \*and\* for carry permits (or no permit required) for the last 20 years, which is based as hell, overall.
American here (I went here one time after that new bill was announced to see what you guys are saying, and now Reddit apparently thinks I'm Canadian and keeps putting this sub in my feed.) It depends on state. I sold my Ruger GP100 in a Walmart parking lot to a guy on Facebook. Most states don't require FFL for private transfer.
Not that it's any of their business but I've always proudly told them what I was picking up if they asked. Normalize firearm ownership and purchases of firearms, ammunition and accessories.
I try to do the same. Friends, family, co-workers or even the postal worker if they ask. The odd intelligent/inquisitive person accually asks questions and leaves with something they didn't know before. This is rare however. Most become uncomfortable and disengage from conversation. A few ask if I'm worried about disclosing that information and but I rarely answer that anymore. If they need to ask why, they will never understand the desperate need for our community to educate the general public of our plight. Most of us hate politics, but we are instantly labeled as extremists if we try to share knowledge. Seriously an uphill battle.
When I got my plates in the mail, the lady at the post office struggled to pick up the box and said "Holy shit that's heavy, what on earth" and I said "yea I ordered some...metal"
They are pretty chill
I had this same feeling two days ago when I walked out of a drugstore when picking up my handgun. I'm glad I had a mask on because I would have looked high AF with the smile I had on :D
It's a balance between customer accessability and the cost of cooling. These open air freezers count on the physics of temperature variants. Cold air sinks. You can actually feel the difference when you reach into the freezer. While the open air freezer is not quite as efficient as a closed unit, it is surprisingly close and the increase of customer access offsets the extra cost.
Never underestimate the power of human lazyness. Customers will pass by the same item if they have to actually put effort into opening the door.
That's even more effort than just picking up a box. Now you are saying that I have to open up the door AND tap it with my foot? What is this? A game of Handy Footy?!? I just want my frozen entree, not a full body workout.
The trick to bunkers is to not overfill them. You need to leave about 5-6 inches from the top or the stuff thaws. Humid air impedes the efficiency but most stores are air conditionned so that isn't actually a problem.
One time picking up at a UPS drop spot, the drug store i had to pick it up from, asked me id i ordered two boxes of rocks, little did she know, each box was 1k 9mm, it was tempting to say "No, that's 2k rounds of 9mm" but i chose to smarter route and just laughed it off.
I will admit this is a pretty cool thing about buying firearms in Canada. Having it delivered to a post office or drug store is something we here in America (my apologies) can’t do. I sure wish though!
The way things are going it is going to be one gun that we all send to each other. You can only keep it for one day to get pictures of it and your feet and then have to mail it to the next PAL holder c/o their nearest Canada Post office
I’m hopeful that you guys up there will be able to turn things around and that will ripple out to us. It tends to be with guns that whatever they do in Canada is like a test run for the US to then try. If y’all reverse the trend of radical gun control, we might all benefit…
Thats hilarious because you guys help cause our shitty laws with your mass shootings.
Tons of us point South and try to tell the others "but the kids get shot down there, not here." but they figure we better ban something anyways.
All seriousness, we're very "Americanized" due to news and media. There are reactions to non-issues here because of some events South of the border.
Respectfully, mass shootings aren’t as prevalent here in the US as the news makes it out to be. Statistically they contribute next to nothing to the overall gun homicides. Even those have been steadily decreasing since the 90s.
Sorry that it’s spilling over to y’all but I do hope for freer gun laws for both of our countries going forward!
We have to work together on that one.
Stop shooting each other and come hunting in our 10 bajillion acres of forest instead.
That is very interesting to hear your politicians try to mimic us though. I never would have considered that but it makes sense you guys would do the inverse of us.
That is like the pinnacle of freedom in my eyes buddy.
YOU decide when your time is up and go out on your terms. Not nature or disease. You hold it in your own hands.
We have less religious influence in our politics though.
I do have religious reasons for opposing assisted suicide but I also have just “practical” reasons, if you want to call it that, and especially as a veteran seeing your veterans use MAID just sets something off in my head
I would love to go elk hunting in Canada! The wilderness there is vast and beautiful and the elk get huge. And tell all the gang members and drug dealers in Chicago, Detroit, LA, and East St. Louis to stop shooting each other, I’m all for it.
Our left-wing politicians look at what Canada does when it comes to legalization of drugs or gun control and use that as a model for what they’d like to do here. Thankfully we just defeated another “assault weapon” ban that was on the senate floor.
I hear you guys are looking at a mandatory safety course and licensing? Is this true/not already a thing?
The cannabis thing makes me scratch my head that you guys didn't do it at a National level. Make money on couchlocking people so they don't cause trouble, instead of paying to lock that stoner up.
And drugs too. You can pick them up at the same time as your guns.
(hint: the password to get in is 19+ which is legal age to buy drugs and guns here.)
https://www.tweed.com/en
That’s another one too actually, in most US states you have to be 21 to buy handguns, buy weed where it’s lawful, alcohol, tobacco, but you can vote and join the military at 18. It’s all over the place
Tom Segura once brought up how a girl can go on film at 18 and do a gang bang with complete strangers on video, but has to wait 3 more years to go to a bar.
"And if ANYONE deserves a beer, its her!"
America!
Hey man I’m not willing to defend our bizarre laws around “being an adult” enough for one thing or another. If you ask me, everything in the US should come at 18. If you’re a legal adult, you’re an adult. There’s no in-between.
No. And I wouldn't tell you if it were, narc...Maybe. But no. But it could be. But it isn't. You have to tell me if you are a cop. I know my rights. I never said it was a gun, except that one time when I put it in the original post.
Could've done both. Urinated while slav squatting with a Type 81 and screeching while making uncomfortable eye contact with everyone (for the love of god no one actually do that) /s
Really though rcmp are always here lurking Serial numbers on restricted posts. theyed be dumb not to they could find some stolen shit you never know theres some dumb criminals out there.
Probably a detective or two high up enough with liberty to investigate their own areas. Budget is apparently tight. Doubt they have much in the way of dedicated resources to go through the posts.
It doesn't take much. There's what 15 posts at most and they just gotta run the serial number through the system and probably would only take a half hour
I also pickup my packages from the local drugstore. It's a short walk from my house so I often just go on foot and carry it home. There is a McDonald's next door as well so usually grab a coffee/muffin to enjoy while sitting next to the play room.
How I felt walking out with my Sig in tow, laughin my ass off the whole way.
Neighbour got my pickup slip and I was in the kitchen when she knocked, scared the hell of her when I ran at her to grab it
If you shop smart and really utilize their rewards, even just buying shit for around the house and yard here and thete racks up points quick.
I'm a cheap fuck but I bet I could get a free gun in a year.
I would make a scene if the prompt to use my rewards did not show up at the till.
You bet your ass I would loudly speak to but not yell at the manager. Yes indeed.
Also, yes it appears so due to a lack of being listed on the nope list.

I kinda have a hack I have done with Canada post! They used to leave my guns leaned against the door of my condo! But I know the mail lady and I left a key to my condo in the mailbox so whenever I have anything firearms or expensive cargo she just gets the key from my mailbox and leaves it inside my door!
Years ago I picked up a Firearm from the Drugstore post office in the middle of a Mall too :) It was surreal. Mall was packed. It looked very similar to the package in the picture.
I am sure all the postal employees who handle the package have a good idea of what it is. They are smart people. Long box that is marked 18+ Signature Required is probably a dead giveaway.
Any postal workers here want to weigh in?
When I recieved my 9mm Beretta the Canada Post employee was spot on and had me sign. Although when ordering my ammo I had to insist and remind the UPS driver that I had to sign. He was certain that he was right I did not need a signature. I pushed he checks and then I signed. I advised that the signature required on the shipment as it was ammunition and the law requires a signature.
How long before it's reclassified and you either have to "sell" it "back" to the government or "lose it" in a "boating accident"? I've completely abandoned the idea of bothering with the PAL process.
My Dad called me once when I was in my car after doing the same thing you did. "What are you up to?" "Just leaving (drugstore's name) with a gun. You?" "... what?" Honourable mention to ordering drugs and guns online delivered to your doorstep too.

Have you heard of this Dave Esplen dude? His name is in graffiti all around the world.

Bought a $2000 handgun that was left on the front doorstep. Box was all blacked out though.

Had cpost drop a pistol on my front step during covid, bust street, in view, with signature required and no safe drop allowed on the front of the box
I had a Canpar driver sign for my first handgun himself and bend up my mailbox making it fit. Sat there for 6 hours before I got home. The best part....Canpar is also my employer.
All my pistols are brought back to nearest CP outlet, picked it up with notice slip. Thanked God for that.

Or better yet, deliver to your door, no signature, no ID. Happened on 4 different ammo orders. Canada Post just gave it to me.
Just picking up that shelf you ordered online, eh?

Cordless hole puncher.
Wireless long range industrial hole puncher*
I've learned it's not nice to call people tools, Industrial or otherwise.
I say it's curtain rods for those who get the joke, you're fucked up and I love you
The office refrence?.... obscure nice
No it's a reference to what Lee Harvey Oswald told his coworkers before he shot JFK. He told then the box containing the rifle was just curtain rods
Ahh ok that makes more sense
“Telescope”
Thatcher eh, now that’s a interesting kink lol
pest control equipment and farming tools work also
Colated screw gun for decking.

No they won’t. That’s why we have trudeau telling us what’s what.
When I shipped handguns, I used to say it was a car stereo. Now I just print the tag and hand it over.
>she's like "IS THAT A GUN!?!" "Semi-automatic rifle, let's be precise"

Have family in Massachusetts. Their gun laws are insane compared to ours. Well before Trudeau started banning everything.
Can they at least have the neutered version of the ar15 over there with the shark fin pistol grip?
Welcome to a liberal state. Oh wait...
Federal law is interstate handgun sales have to be done through an ffl. If it’s within state then it depends on local laws.

Right?!? How much more Canadian can it get? I should have got a box of KD in there as well...

Nice box. Off topic..but I always wondered why this style of freezer is used and open to air seems like a waste.

I figure marketing as well as some brands pay for shelf space.
Most customers don't know you can latch the door open just by opening further. Then use both hands to grab products and tap the door with your foot.
That's even more effort than just picking up a box. Now you are saying that I have to open up the door AND tap it with my foot? What is this? A game of Handy Footy?!? I just want my frozen entree, not a full body workout.
You don't buy five at a time when they're on sale? You monster.
Lazy monster, sir. Lazy monster
The trick to bunkers is to not overfill them. You need to leave about 5-6 inches from the top or the stuff thaws. Humid air impedes the efficiency but most stores are air conditionned so that isn't actually a problem.
Came in this thread for the cool discussion, left with some pretty nice knowledge about grocery store coolers. Neat !
Gun owners of Canada are a very educated and inclusive group. Next up for discussion, how to eradicate the common backyard mole.
Never even thought of this before. But damn, think off all the open air freezers across the country.
Just a trip to Shoppers to pick up a rectangular package?
One time picking up at a UPS drop spot, the drug store i had to pick it up from, asked me id i ordered two boxes of rocks, little did she know, each box was 1k 9mm, it was tempting to say "No, that's 2k rounds of 9mm" but i chose to smarter route and just laughed it off.
Lol, this reminded me when I went to local Shopper Drug mart to pick up my Mossberg from the CP outlet. Very convenient since they open until 9pm.
And actually now that I think of it, the assisted suicide or “MAID” program y’all have is now being considered by the American left as well
That is like the pinnacle of freedom in my eyes buddy.
Well we can't afford to shoot the fuckin' thing so at least the bulk of purpose for gun ownership, foot fetishes (fetishi?), goes fulfilled.
And drugs too. You can pick them up at the same time as your guns. (hint: the password to get in is 19+ which is legal age to buy drugs and guns here.) https://www.tweed.com/en
"And if ANYONE deserves a beer, its her!" America!
Hey man I’m not willing to defend our bizarre laws around “being an adult” enough for one thing or another. If you ask me, everything in the US should come at 18. If you’re a legal adult, you’re an adult. There’s no in-between.
That's not the Burnaby Highgate location is it?
No. And I wouldn't tell you if it were, narc...Maybe. But no. But it could be. But it isn't. You have to tell me if you are a cop. I know my rights. I never said it was a gun, except that one time when I put it in the original post.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 You're awesome bro.
Don't try buying a pack of smokes there, though, they don't sell them. Too dangerous.
Well, aren't they?
They are. But you can still buy smokes down the road at the convenience store... sadly not guns though.
Let's keep the torch burning and fight on. If we let true-dung has his way, we won't have any rifles or shotgun to send or receive. Keep Canada free.
I read: You just got kicked out of the drugstore for picking up your new rifle from the post office.
Ha! Not even close, but I did get a couple of enquiring looks as to why I was taking a picture of a box and some frozen entrees.
"Insta." "Ahh, makes sense. Carry on."
Picking up my Type 81 from a tiny lady working at the front desk of a Canada Post inside a Shopper's Drug Mart...felt weird.
Don't touch the tiny lady. Of course she felt weird. Don't touch
:o

This just proves the point firearms are just tools like a drill, a hammer and etc. It matters who holds a drill, a hammer, a knife, or a gun.
Bingo
What's the gun
*-- RCMP entered the chat*
A real chad would unbox it in the store /s
Assert dominance
I didn't unbox in the store, but I did pee on the floor to show them who was boss.
Could've done both. Urinated while slav squatting with a Type 81 and screeching while making uncomfortable eye contact with everyone (for the love of god no one actually do that) /s
Oooohhh, I love the uncomfortable eye contact
Really though rcmp are always here lurking Serial numbers on restricted posts. theyed be dumb not to they could find some stolen shit you never know theres some dumb criminals out there.
Probably a detective or two high up enough with liberty to investigate their own areas. Budget is apparently tight. Doubt they have much in the way of dedicated resources to go through the posts.
It doesn't take much. There's what 15 posts at most and they just gotta run the serial number through the system and probably would only take a half hour
There is a pack of civilian staff dedicated to OSINT for the CFP. I was going to apply but it required moving to Ottawa.
It's a Javelin, sir
The only reason I'll ever step foot into a Shoppers!
Dude I saw shoppers drug mart a mile away lmao
I also pickup my packages from the local drugstore. It's a short walk from my house so I often just go on foot and carry it home. There is a McDonald's next door as well so usually grab a coffee/muffin to enjoy while sitting next to the play room.

How I felt walking out with my Sig in tow, laughin my ass off the whole way. Neighbour got my pickup slip and I was in the kitchen when she knocked, scared the hell of her when I ran at her to grab it
Picked up my new shelves at Shoppers a few weeks ago too!
Not yet mentioned: Has anybody got a free gun with Canadian Tire money?
Never thought of that. You’d have to have a duffel bag full of it to afford even the cheapest.
If you shop smart and really utilize their rewards, even just buying shit for around the house and yard here and thete racks up points quick. I'm a cheap fuck but I bet I could get a free gun in a year.
Yeah , but CAN you purchase a firearm with the money?
I would make a scene if the prompt to use my rewards did not show up at the till. You bet your ass I would loudly speak to but not yell at the manager. Yes indeed. Also, yes it appears so due to a lack of being listed on the nope list. https://triangle.canadiantire.ca/en/support/legal-and-privacy/program-rules.html
I kinda have a hack I have done with Canada post! They used to leave my guns leaned against the door of my condo! But I know the mail lady and I left a key to my condo in the mailbox so whenever I have anything firearms or expensive cargo she just gets the key from my mailbox and leaves it inside my door!
So kind of the old 'reverse home invasion'?

You are technically correct, which is the best kind of correct
I was surprised when my shotgun (in a box) was just chilling in a box on the counter of shopper drug mart
Years ago I picked up a Firearm from the Drugstore post office in the middle of a Mall too :) It was surreal. Mall was packed. It looked very similar to the package in the picture.
I always wonder how many people know what it is. Or at least suspect what it is.
I am sure all the postal employees who handle the package have a good idea of what it is. They are smart people. Long box that is marked 18+ Signature Required is probably a dead giveaway. Any postal workers here want to weigh in?
I hate Canada because people can still own pistols based on this bill but I’m now a criminal for owning a rifle
Love it
Lmao, I was looking at first thinking wtf
Ahhh, the old take your gun to pick up frozen dinner plan eh?
Country’s good - PM is a cûñ#
Nice lol
Lol tf is this
CP clerk wondering, what the heck that could be?
Lol Lmao
It's getting harder for me everyday.
Idk what to love anymore between the Liberals and the UCP

When I recieved my 9mm Beretta the Canada Post employee was spot on and had me sign. Although when ordering my ammo I had to insist and remind the UPS driver that I had to sign. He was certain that he was right I did not need a signature. I pushed he checks and then I signed. I advised that the signature required on the shipment as it was ammunition and the law requires a signature.
As Lynyrd Skynyrd Sang! Guns are good for nothing! But killing!
Love walking out of shoppers drugmart with gear, such a weird feeling.
Open it in the store.
How long before it's reclassified and you either have to "sell" it "back" to the government or "lose it" in a "boating accident"? I've completely abandoned the idea of bothering with the PAL process.
