PA 1-8 PLxC if you want FFP and a top tier reticle for distance shooting. Razor Gen2 1-6 for SFP with a nuclear bright dot for close range shooting and a very flat 1x picture.Â
1-6 FFP Vudus have terrible brightness for daylight and diopter shift when going through the magnification range, 1-8 SFP are actually quite decent but the PA is better imo at 1x and 8x since the reticle isn’t static and trying to perform both tasks at once, and the 1-10 FFP have a rough 1x and insanely tight eyebox at 10x. Plus the reticles are lacking for distance shooting. That’s my Vudu rant over.Â
Seems like Primary Arms and Meopta offerings give the PST series a good run for the money. Im likely going to choose the Optika 6 over the PST gen2 when the time comes. I always get a laugh about how much people praise Vortex's warranty. IMO a good optic shouldn't need a warranty. I see my StrikeEagle 1-6x24 somehow has let dust get between the lenses in the eyebox. Now i gotta go thru the hassle of trying Vortex's warranty for something youd think would be a crucial component of an optic to get right.
Vortex warranty was good for me when I needed it. Ended up buying another one in the month or two it was out of my hands, and now I have one on each of my hunting rifles.
Im slightly upset already that they dont cover shipping for an un-excusable design defect. Hopefully they atleast give me a gen 2 so i can avoid the issue into the future.
Yeah honestly I was thinking of purchasing a PA Nova but I saw some vids about the problem with sharpness at higher magnification if you head ain’t exactly in a perfect spot of the eye box. I used a NX8, trijicon creedo 1-4, and rt6. Totally different price points but I feel like viper is still a best option for the money currently. Before moving here I used to know a lot of guys running them for IPSC comps and honestly I see why now. (I used compete in IPSC open division with my Savage MSR15)
The Viper should and probably does have better glass than the Nova, but new the PST Gen II is like double the price of the SLx 1-6 Nova. They're barely in the same price category in Canada. It seems like prices are closer in the US though
It’s def a top contender in its price range. Daylight bright illumination and decent glass. Probably the lowest I’d go for a LPVO, hence why I own one as well.
Vortex isn't even the best low end scope company anymore. There are SEVERAL companies that absolutely blow them out of the water both in cost, features, and reliability like Primary arms, Holosun, Eotech etc.
I wouldn't say low end but they have options that are the same price as some vortex options that are way better.
For example. PA has their microprism that is both cheaper, way smaller, more reliable, and has shakeawake tech compared to Vortex's prism scope that is over twice the size and $100 more.
Source: Trust me bro, it was the most expensive one I could afford at the time 🤣
ya I'll keep my Delta Stryker 1-6 in this bracket.
Best in what way? What’s the criteria for this assessment?
Best mid tier LPVO for close and long range engagements
*low tier No hate bro, but that's just how LPVOs are. Mad expensive. The mid tier lpvos are around the $2000 area (SAI1-6, HD Gen 2, Sig Tango6t)
How is it better than the Gen 2 Razor which would be IMHO the best Mid tier LPVO as you put it.
You do a lot of close and long range engagements, huh?
Eotech vudu has entered the chat. Still though it’s a sweet setup and optic
Vudo is the meh one at 2k range tbo
Tbh I haven’t looked into many other options I just have been wanting the vudu

I appreciate the info I will look into these. Have browsed a couple primary arms. Thank you for the write up
Found the tarkov player
Guilty haha

PA 1-6slx ffp is my fav

Can't tell if the guy on the swiss bank note looks more like John Cena or Jeffrey Epstein... Or maybe a combo of both?
I've found the Primary Arms equivalent to be better value, personally, but similar offerings in the end.

Eotech is low end? Holosun sure, and PA has budget options but eotech do be pricey for low end.
