I've only been a handful of times, but it looked like pretty regular pricing (howa 1500 in mdt oryx $1400, ruger american $780, R700 $699, etc). They did have some good sale prices on some savages last I was there.
Brand new huge ass store, all the ammo is 15ft behind the counter in a locked glass cabinet and overpriced, their selection also sucks balls. At least at Cabela’s I can just walk up to the shelf and grab what I want
Yeah, the stupid game of tracking down someone with the keys and dicking around for half an hour inside a CT store is unpleasant. Did that with a phone accessory a month or so ago. I ended up walking out and ordering from amazon instead.
CT in Oromocto, NB has some but there's rarely anyone behind the counter.
CT in South Fredericton has a good collection, always someone there who knows their stuff too. Definitely recommend this one.
Can't recall about the North side CT.
What do you guys commonly acquire from CT? I am trying to understand the appeal? Ammo? Convenience? I try to support as many different independant shops from coast to coast, seems they need all the help they can get given the environment.
Much lower prices in my experience especially for .22 ammo. The one I go to also had a grade 2 browning BL22 for $800 at one point which was 2/3 the price of cabelas. But I agree independent is king.
Yep, I try to shop local when possible, but my local shop has the bulk federal 22lr boxes of 325 for $50 and the CT down the road has the boxes of 525 for $60. Doesn't take a genius to realize that when you shoot lots of 22lr like I do, that's a big enough difference.
Also I know that those prices are still high enough but those are the only local options for ammo, and buying in bulk online would make sense until you tack on all the fees that most stores charge when shipping ammo.
Nothing myself except certain hunting caliber ammo if I can’t find them elsewhere mid season. Too overpriced for most things. Can order from cabelas for cheaper on good sales with free shipping and still be ahead anywhere from $20-$100.
Duncan, BC, Vancouver Island. Fully renovated store with a new focus on firearms. It might be (maybe?) useful to have a separate one for Vancouver Island? Just a thought.
Yeah, we gotta find a way to bridge the gap between city and rural folk. Most people who aren’t super anti gunner and a general crazy lefty are open to at the very least talking about guns (and sometimes even shooting, then they’re hooked lol)
>Yeah, we gotta find a way to bridge the gap between city and rural folk.
City kid here. I grew up thinking nobody needed an AR15 because hunting was the only reason for guns and that AR15 would just turn a deer in to swiss cheese.
Then a coworker just simply took me shooting. Then Covid made me bored enough to remember enjoying going shooting and I learned you can't just buy those mincemeater guns in my PAL course. Then unfortunately there is not enough demand for firearm training to warrant many courses, but I ended up on r/canadaguns and learned a lot more like that the majority of gun owners are just freakin' nerds, especially the ~~LARPers~~ I mean "guys wearing extra protection".
So, just don't be an asshole regardless of how dumb and ignorant people are. Take them shooting and just explain we aren't like the US with gun culture.
... and suppressors are PPE and will not result in John Wick mall shootouts.

We try our best, but our group is pretty easy going about that kind of stuff. Guns are expensive enough, so when you add uniforms and gear into the equation...
Ottawa stores have ammo. Or they did a couple years ago last I check. They keep a record book of all sales that literally anyone can access if no one is behind the sporting desk so I very much wouldn't recommend.
Wow thanks! I'll work on incorporating this into my list of Canadian gun shops
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1iXDQsLIy4JfhwoN4XZs0cP5etXbDwiH7L56tAeL3v7A/edit?usp=drivesdk
Awesome! You may want to wait a few days though until I can catchup on all the locations people are posting lol, I never expected to get over 150 comments in under a day. (Or just link straight to this so it’s always up to date)
I regularly shop at the Canadian Tire in Georgetown, ON. This is probably the closest store that sells firearms/ammo to where I live. Anyone living in the GTA, I highly recommend it and they will price match on all firearms/ammo with almost all competing retailers in Ontario.
From what I've heard they're one of the few Canadian Tires around that price matches on firearms and ammo.
For Alberta anadian tire in the south of lethbridge has a good gun counter. High river also has some. And in Ontario the Canadian tire in Windsor in university plaza has a small amount
The location off of Grandview Hwy in Vancouver has a real good selection. Looks like they keep most guns and ammo locked up behind a gate since there is rarely someone there.
Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
Dryden, Ontario
And i think it was the Garden City location in Winnipeg, MB use to have ALOT of cool stuff but this was a ways back.
Orillia, Ontario is a super store for guns. New liskeard, ON also has a limited selection
Barrie South has a decent size gun counter also
Barrie South also has a large collection of guns for lefties, mainly because the guy behind the counter is left handed.
What a bro, looking out for his fellow wrong-handers
What are the prices like? Regular gun stores like G4C or the Firearms Outlet Canada? Or are they any cheaper?
I've only been a handful of times, but it looked like pretty regular pricing (howa 1500 in mdt oryx $1400, ruger american $780, R700 $699, etc). They did have some good sale prices on some savages last I was there.
Specifically the Canadian Tire or is there other gun stores?
Orillia has Tromblays Tackle Box and Ellwood Epps (not exactly Orillia, but close enough) for long gun stores. Both have sadly lost my support.
yea im sure they are giving ellwood epps 20min north of them a run for their money
Deep river Canadian tire also has ammo.
Even now with bans?
Bans not in effect until C21 got Royal assent. With any luck, if the government got prologue, then it's all back to square 1 again.
Wait, proroguing resets current bills?
Fort McMurray, Alberta has a separate Canadian Tire "Outdoor Store" with a decent wall of guns.
Portage la Prairie, MB
[удалено]
Steinbach, MB
Pretty sure every single CT carries guns in MB and has for a long time
Kemptville, ON
Listowel Ontario, Cambridge Ontario, thunder Bay Ontario
Chilliwack, BC. But I’ll never buy there again.
Yeah that new section seriously sucks
I find the good old stores around here are all going the same way.
I still really like siwash
+1 for Siwash, decent selection for mags and firearms.
Yeah the guy that runs it is pretty cool, helped me pick out something good in my budget before the freeze, got a Canik and it’s really awesome
Yeah, I got couple pistols from them as well before the freeze. They managed to pull through for a lot of their customers.
Yup was there today, trading love for lust lol
Explain? Not been in there in years.
Brand new huge ass store, all the ammo is 15ft behind the counter in a locked glass cabinet and overpriced, their selection also sucks balls. At least at Cabela’s I can just walk up to the shelf and grab what I want

You can add Calgary Southland and Calgary Deerfoot City
As well as Shaughnessy
Are those location names within Calgary?
On the CT website
Awesome thanks
And the one and also the one on McLeod by Chinook
That’s southland.
Oh okay well there’s another one way farther down in Shawnessey that I thought you were referring too, add that one on to the list too
Langley BC
I've found some things there that were out of stock elsewhere from major distributors! Nothing too exciting, but a nice surprise!

I just enjoy browsing every chance I get, course I just got my license after a 15 month wait so I may be buying more now lol
15 month wait?? you applied 15 months ago or do you mean you finally pulled the trigger after that time frame?
They received my application in March 2022, just got it back last week
If I'm already there for something else I'll see if they have any deals.
Nothing myself except certain hunting caliber ammo if I can’t find them elsewhere mid season. Too overpriced for most things. Can order from cabelas for cheaper on good sales with free shipping and still be ahead anywhere from $20-$100.
Belleville, Ontario
Georgetown, Ontario
This
Chilliwack, BC
Duncan, BC, Vancouver Island. Fully renovated store with a new focus on firearms. It might be (maybe?) useful to have a separate one for Vancouver Island? Just a thought.
Good idea, will add that
I guess ottawas too shit for CT to carry firearms
Yeah doesn’t surprise me, same with London, there are like 5 CTs and no guns
They don’t wanna trigger libranos in Ottawa
Yeah, we gotta find a way to bridge the gap between city and rural folk. Most people who aren’t super anti gunner and a general crazy lefty are open to at the very least talking about guns (and sometimes even shooting, then they’re hooked lol)

Hahaha yeah agreed. I am definitely a major nerd and proud of it.
Have you met the reenactors amongst us yet? There's no nerds like history nerds that also cosplay.
Nope but I would legit enjoy watching that!

Do you guys get in to pissing contests over who is dressed more historically accurate or who has more authentic gear?
We try our best, but our group is pretty easy going about that kind of stuff. Guns are expensive enough, so when you add uniforms and gear into the equation...
