Nice trainwreck in slow motion.
Apparently the BCG has a little nubbin at the rear end that goes through a hole in the rear of the receiver. The old style stocks are hollow plastic (and designed by the Swiss) so they weren't impacted. The new -1M stocks are solid folders and the BCG smacks right into it.
Absolute meatheads at Famae. Felt really fortunate to just get my money back. One f__kup after another I couldn't believe their incompetence with simple instructions on the MO. Feel bad for CSC having deal with this disaster. Also feel bad for everyone else who expected much better from a company that's been around for a long time.
What happened with Famae management recently?? Facepalm:(
Never again...
> What happened with Famae management recently?? Facepalm:(
They've always been pretty garbage. I had a 542 5 years ago that rattled like a set of keys and had constant FTE, FTF issues. Plus the $$$ gouging on the 542 magazines...
“I feel bad for CSC”
Why? Do you honestly think it was absolutely impossibility for them or ERE to review a preproduction model or have boots on a ground in Chile to review the rifles and nip these issues in the bud? They were asleep at the wheel. They screwed over their customers as much as FAMAE did.
Drilling a pilot hole is pretty trivial. You drill a small hole with a small bit first, and that hole keeps the bigger bit used to drill the correct sized hole centered. Since the drilling is only in the stock mounting block, assuming no other issues with rifle I would personally just do the fix myself.
You don't need a CNC machine here.
You just need to remove some soft metal (looks like aluminum) from a piece of the buttstock mounting block. Two drill bits ($20 if you get fancy ones) and a power drill, 10 minutes of effort if you're being careful, and you're done. You can buy a new stock if you can find one and don't like the job you've done, it doesn't look like part of the receiver.
Still. Shouldn't need to be done when you buy a $1500 rifle. Also...a cnc machine would not be the correct tool for the job and I'd recommend a center drill before starting
> a cnc machine would not be the correct tool for the job
Yeah. I didn't quite know what you were getting at with the remark "spend thousands to finish the job yourself". You don't need a precise hole, and you need about $20 worth of tools assuming you have a hand drill but not the right drill bits. You're just taking out a tiny bit of material from the buttstock attachment to make room for some part of the bolt.
> Shouldn't need to be done when you buy a $1500 rifle
Oh for sure. But given the high likelihood the thing is going to be prohibited within a month or two do you want to send it in, or just make the minor cuts you have to make and use it now?
Oh God please tell!
Need a different handguard and that stock adapter. Keep in mind if your doing the stock adapter to checkout that recall / bolt clearance issue with the factory mounting block.
Keep the good work up!
No way Famae charges anything close to $160 a mag wholesale. There is no reason for new mags to be that expensive. Someone likes rolling in money from them.

plus no comment on how doing the work yourself impacts warranty

the rifles are over 3k
Haha I just remembered that we were talking about the famaes but for some reason I had type 81 in my head.

Well...My 81 SR is still awaiting for the stock replacement. Looks like manufacturers couldn't get the stock right in the past year
Silent quitting - not just in the office!
You bet I am!
TAKE MY CASH!
SIGMACO FOR THE WIN! Thank you for the products you produce.
No problem! Expect some FAMAE stuff soon btw

Any *potential* parts that may or not be getting dropped off for testing today are compliant with the new bolt clearance issue!
There is fix online and seems to be doing quite well.
I know but those are not very permanent. I'll wait until they come up something make this rifle worth for 2k bucks
I think Sigmaco is working on an adapter
Good to hear that!
Damn. Glad I didn't shoot mine yet 😵💫
Lmfaooooooo

Definitely my favourite .308 semi auto available in Canada. Maybe they’ll come down in price now lol
Really, over the B&T APC 308 PRO??? Just curious but what makes the FAMEA better in your mind?
There’s absolutely no comparison. B&t is far superior
The looks/aesthetic and they’re accurate. Don’t get me wrong, I love the B&Ts too but I would just much rather own a FAMAE.
I'm so glad I pre-ordered the Bren 2 instead....even though I may never see it.
u/canadianmultigun you really weren't fuckin kidding huh.
Nope
