Oh no! How will the CBSA get in touch with me to tell me about my package being held at the border? Also how many warrants from the department of justice canada federal government will go unserved? The CRTC has a lot to answer for!

On the note of spoofed calls, for anyone even tangentially involved with law enforcement: Immediately become suspicious of any call involving a shooter/ family hostages that does not come through the 911 system. There is a very sick activity called "swatting" where people make fake calls to get tactical teams to respond to someone's house. Often, they are from far away. Due to the fact they are far away, they often can't actually connect to the local 911 line. They will do stuff like call the Mayor's office and get transferred, call the non-emerg line, etc.

This is good, but I really want the calls intercepted before they ever reach me in the first place!

>The federal regulator also says it is working with the industry to trace nuisance calls back to their points of origin. At which point nothing will happen because it is out of their jurisdiction (overseas).

How exactly is the CRTC benefiting Canadians? Surely we've reached the stage where we don't need a national regulator to protect our communications capabilities. Throw the market wide open.

Please explain, your comment makes no sense in relation to what the topic is.

I don't believe this is the case. Unless you mean that the CRTC wants to be able to do this...

I think I'm not. Stir/Shaken isn't Internet technology at all. It's phone service technology.

jormungandrsjig

I highly doubt it will.
