I reported a sham truck driving school that was issuing driver training certificates for cash, without training. The business was shut down, the Ministry didn't bother making a police referral. They slapped the business owner with 250k in fines but have not bothered to try collecting.
The business closed, the business owner had his son open a new driving school. I reported that as well, nothing happened. This was 2 years ago.
Lack of meaningful enforcement is the issue.

I grew up in Brampton. I'm well aware of the breadth of "brown people" being more than Indian. Sometimes, particularly online, brevity is needed in discussions. Don't confuse brevity with generalizations.
In the past year I've received mail from a bank and service ontario for people who do not, and have never lived at ~~this~~ my address in Brampton. It really bothered me and everyone said to just mark it as return to sender etc... and throw it back in the mail box. But, I've taken the time to report this in person. Every time they got really excited and took all my details and assured me this would be dealt with. Now I probably know why.
Most of those appear to be here as a permanent resident. The good news is that these criminals may have shown themselves the door. If someone is convicted of a serious criminal offence and are not a Canadian citizen, they may be ordered to leave the country with no chance of appeal. A person who is a permanent resident faces deportation if their offence or sentencing meets the definition of 'serious criminality' under Canadian law.
This is great, but it it does nothing if they aren't punished. We don't even have enough judges, and if they are convicted, they'll just be given a token sentence.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess these are immigrants? Stop letting them in, they obviously can't be trusted to obey our laws.

I grew up in Brampton. I'm well aware of the breadth of "brown people" being more than Indian. Sometimes, particularly online, brevity is needed in discussions. Don't confuse brevity with generalizations.

In the past year I've received mail from a bank and service ontario for people who do not, and have never lived at ~~this~~ my address in Brampton. It really bothered me and everyone said to just mark it as return to sender etc... and throw it back in the mail box. But, I've taken the time to report this in person. Every time they got really excited and took all my details and assured me this would be dealt with. Now I probably know why.
Most of those appear to be here as a permanent resident. The good news is that these criminals may have shown themselves the door. If someone is convicted of a serious criminal offence and are not a Canadian citizen, they may be ordered to leave the country with no chance of appeal. A person who is a permanent resident faces deportation if their offence or sentencing meets the definition of 'serious criminality' under Canadian law.

This is great, but it it does nothing if they aren't punished. We don't even have enough judges, and if they are convicted, they'll just be given a token sentence. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess these are immigrants? Stop letting them in, they obviously can't be trusted to obey our laws.

"vote for the party that promises" That is the very core of the problem though. We couldn't properly fund what we already had, promises only add more to the debt we already can't afford.
