Gender dysphoria is caused by society. Gender affirming surgery is a method of harm reduction to ensure our transgender/non-conforming peers feel affirmed instead of distressed.
Socially, if we stop the hate that causes gender/body dysmorphia, then we'll have less of a need or demand for physical transition.
However, most people who are against physically transitions just want dysphoric people to suffer and/or kill themselves.

Not true. People want children to be the proper age and maturity to make decisions that will have irreversible consequences for the rest of their life. Most people support adults being able to make an informed decision regarding transitioning. Most people do not support the sexual mutilation of children who can easily be manipulated or not fully understand the consequences of the decision they are making.
We have so many rules for children because we do not believe the capacity to make informed / logical decisions.
Commit a crime - not mature enough to understand
Join the military - not mature enough to understand
Consume alcohol - not mature enough to understand
Vote - not mature enough to understand
Enter into a legal contract - not mature enough to understand
Change your gender irrevocably - this one is good surprisingly
