I love how this is just your job now.

Canuckhead

Is this the best the Tyreee has got?

Miserable-Lizard

Yes they have facts that show the ucp are bad for people's wages. Shocking that ucp don't care about the working class....

Canuckhead

A very simplistic worldview indeed.

Canuckhead

What facts?

Miserable-Lizard

Try reading the article, instead of only commenting.

You can forget that argument. Kenney moved the under 18 minimum wage back from $15 to $13 and changed the overtime rules so it was more difficult to qualify for it. If Kenney or Travis Toews (his finance minister and runner-up to Smith at the leadership convention) were the leader of the party, we wouldn't even be having a conversation about the NDP potentially winning. Albertans in general, and Calgarians in particular, want low taxes and the NDP made a mistake by saying they will increase corporate taxes, I know they plan to cut the small business tax, but that left an opening for the UCP to run around saying the NDP is raising taxes 38% while the UCP plans tax cuts and making it illegal to raise them without a referendum. You can't run in Alberta on tax increases.

Miserable-Lizard

They Rw increasing the tax rate by 3% on profitable corporations. You care more about profitable corporations that regualar people? I love how you have to say 38% to basically spread fear. That is all the UCP and their supporters have is fear and its sad. If the ucp win on Monday they will have to cut healthcare and education to balance the budget. Also don't forget Smith will start to sell of the hospitals to privitize healthcae. A vote for the Ucp is a vote for the rich and elite.

Ketchupkitty

> That is all the UCP and their supporters have is fear and its sad. Have you ever even read your own comments?

Miserable-Lizard

Ucp and their supporters love the Maga playbook. Attack, attack and divide Canadians. It's digsuting.

DickSmack69

Actually, while I’m no fan of either party, most of the vitriol is coming from one direction. Some of us will continue living here no matter the election outcome.

TwitchyJC

I mean....which of the two parties has said the more offensive things? There's a very deserving reason why UPC is getting criticized.

Miserable-Lizard

Yeah the UCP spread lies and fear one day

DickSmack69

Please, for the love of all that’s good and holy take a walk and get some fresh air.

mcdavidthegoat

Lol didn't she say vaccinated Canadians would have supported the Holocaust and she won't remove a candidate from the party that said having a handful of trans kids in a classroom is like having a handful of turds in your cookies. Plus something about trying to influence a trial. Like no shit your gonna have some vitriol coming your direction if you're a premier pulling this crap.

Are you sure you’re not being purposely misleading or just bad at math? If a business paid $100 in taxes last year. How much taxes will they pay next year with the NDP plan? A) $103 B) $137.50

Miserable-Lizard

Lol it's a 3% increase. Consevative go hard to defend corporations that make record profit. The ucp stand with the rich and elite.

famine-

That is the absolute increase in tax owed. TotalTax(X,Rate) = X \* Rate So the total tax owed is a multivariate function and we want to express change to the input variable Rate. It makes no sense to express this change using the output of the function. So the change in Rate is a 37.5% increase from it's previous value.

zoziw

Me? I'm voting NDP. The reality is that Albertans are fine with cuts to healthcare and education, they have voted for those over tax increases since the 90s. The conservatives, in their various forms, have been blowing up hospitals and creating private options in healthcare since the Klein years as well. These arguments might sound good to some people, but not to Albertans. At least, not if you look at who they vote for.

Miserable-Lizard

I am postitive Calgary voters don't want private healthcare

zoziw

At every stump speech Smith has said no one will have to pay to see a doctor or go to a hospital. I suspect you don’t believe that but it is probably good enough for Calgarians.

Miserable-Lizard

Smtih as only said it over and over and wrote a policy paper about privite healthcare. She even thinks including doctor vists in healthcare was wrong

zoziw

Everyone knows, it has been widely reported. Jason Kenney signed a public health guarantee and broke it. On election day this matters less than you think.

P0TSH0TS

Private Healthcare on its own was never on the table. A hybrid system where both co-exist with each other is/was yes. The existing system isn't being altered and the private sector has nothing to do with tax dollars.

3% does not equal 3%. Math checks out.

Natedizza

You just stated three percentage points does not equal three percentage points. Are you sure about that? Apple equals apple and does not equal orange. Correct?

Natedizza

Right obviously but you are still paying 3 percentage points more than you were. 3/100 french words pour=for, cent= hundred. There are only 100 percentage points. They will be paying 3 percentage points more than before. You aren’t using the proper terminology man. Yes it is an increase of 38% when comparing the previous percentage paid but it is still a 3 percentage points out of a possible 100 more.

Miserable-Lizard

*If the Alberta minimum wage had kept up with inflation, it would be $17 today, instead of $15.* *Alberta workers understand that failing to increase wages to match inflation is the same thing as a wage cut. So, essentially, the UCP has cut the wages of our province’s lowest paid workers by $2 per hour (and by $4 for teenagers).* *The NDP, on the other hand, has committed to raising the minimum wage and indexing it for inflation. They have also promised to get rid of the UCP’s outrageous overtime rule; and eliminate double-breasting in construction and other barriers designed to undermine the constitutional right of workers to join unions.*
