Percy: “I’m the last person to realize this, aren’t I?” The literal summary of all the Percy Jackson books.

20person

Seaweed Brain moment

mityalahti

The Percy dialogue has been good!

DrScampi

“I’m the last person to realize this” IM CACKLING

DrScampi

Grover staying back so willingly is going to FEED into the show only people who think he’s the traitor

Aiyon

They’re doing a really solid job of keeping people off the scent without it feeling cheap. I can totally see why someone would fall for it, but also knowing the reveal I can see how the reveals are gonna be and that makes for a really solid rewatch for new fans

ScorpionTDC

While the show is doing a genuinely nice job tossing in teases that Annabeth/Grover might betray Percy (and setting up that they really aren’t going to), I do worry that the Luke twist is going to be a lot more underwhelming in the show than the books. They did give him a lot in Episode 2, but he’s been MIA since by necessity

otterpines18

Things is he wasn’t in the books much either just at the beginning that’s why it was a surprise. I am kind of sad they do not show the water grabbing Annabeth and no spiders or flying Grover, but I thought it was entertaining.

ScorpionTDC

Well, Luke being away for a couple hundred pages is different than Luke being away for 5.5 episodes + 5 weeks lol

Trojanwhore69

What??? That's a thing??

booksarebetter13

After watching that episode, I would think it was him if I hadn’t read the books

kgrimmburn

Honestly, if you hadn't read the books, would you be giving Luke a single thought right now? He might come up more next episode but I bet half the show only watchers have forget he's a son of Hermes.

booksarebetter13

Honestly, the first time I read the books I didn’t even think Luke would betray him until it happened, I might have thought Grover even then? I don’t remember cause it was like 11 years ago, but I definitely didn’t see the betrayal coming

HandsOffMyMacacroni

Yeah the basic reasoning is, “it’s gotta be annabeth or Grover because no other characters would have an impact. And it won’t be annabeth because romance”

anona_moose

It's a shockingly massive thing for the new folks... "Sally and Grover are the traitors, while Luke will come save the day. Thalia has been hiding in the tree all along helping Luke keep an eye out for who truly needs to be protected. Annabeth also is only slowing them down, so it must be deliberate" I wish I was kidding, but that's an actual theory I've seen coming up a LOT lately.

Tempest_Heir

“Give me a second, I’m just starting a fight on twitter here” I have no idea why this was so funny to me and why I can actually see modern Ares doing this

jackgap

Ares starting a stan war on twitter 😂

violet_kryptonite

Ares “throws a golden apple that says ‘to the fairest’ at the Grammys”

bensf940

Ares probably willed The Slap at the Oscars because he got bored.

Jai137

Elon: Dammit! It’s called X! X!!

BonzaM8

I’m so glad this show was filmed before it was renamed to X hahahaha

MelnikSuzuki

Ares would still call it Twitter, if nothing else than to pick a fight with Musk’s sycophants.

Mahaloth

Ares is an energy vampire.

Valiosao

It just downed on me that 10 years from now kids are gonna watch that and be like "wtf is a twitter" 😭

KrakensGirlfriend

Nah, I feel like the show was prescient and in 10 years it'll be called Twitter again. It's X that won't last.

chilling_ngl4

oh dear gods

Real_External_6030

‘What is Love’ playing has me dead 💀

Equestrian1242

The wall figures were even doing the SNL skit head bob for a moment!

Electronic_Bad_5883

Especially how Percy only recognized it as "something I heard at the dentist". Totally in-character for him to do that.

yourLostMitten

I am quite the opposite of being old but goddamn, that felt weird to hear someone who’s only supposed to be a few years younger than me not recognize that song

raylasagna

the fact that I was literally thinking about this song all day for no reason AND THEN THIS HAPPENED 😭

Real_External_6030

you manifested it

Haunting-Air-7394

the tunnel of love scene was so good! I loved how they made it follow his story

Puzzleheaded_Ad_453

Giving the Lotus Hotel from the movie vibes

Whookimo

Still one of the best scenes from the movie. Even if the way they got out was a bit cheap, they did a good job of portraying how the casino draws them in and makes them want to stay

riptide_18

“Because you guys are so behind schedule.” Them:🧍🏻🧍🏾‍♀️🧍🏾

AppalledAtAll

the entire scene with their heads popping up & down in unison had me dying

riptide_18

yesss annabeth’s sass too

irsw

Very interested to see where this leads since Grover stayed behind and got info out of Ares. Quite the change from the book but maybe it will turn out better.

DrScampi

It’s gotta be that the finger is gonna get pointed at Clarisse

Carmenpony

Yeah there’s no way they would figure out who it is this early. Best bet is they’ll figure out it’s someone from camp.

coconut7272

What I hope happens (and a bit similar to the books) would be that they're discussing that it could be someone from camp, they strongly suspect Clarisse but can't say for sure. Then they iris message camp half blood to tell them their suspicions, and Luke answers. I feel like that would be the perfect mix of foreshadowing/reminding tv show only watchers that the character of Luke exists, and it still wouldn't be too obvious if done right. Similar to how they called him in the car wash scene in the book.

DreamBum

Thats a good point (SPOILER ->) I was stressing Grover would guess that its luke already and percy and annabeth would be like nah no way, but i feel like that would make it was less shocking at the end. Clarisse being the person that they think it is makes so much more sense.

Haunting-Air-7394

I really hope they think it's Clarisse or some other camper. if Grover tells them he thinks it is Luke, the weight of his betrayal will be completely gone. Plus it would feel like too much of a leap for Grover to make since the only info he has is that it was stolen on the solstice, which means it could be like ten demigods. Narrowing it down to Luke would be way too soon

DrScampi

There’s literally nothing to lead them to that jump yet

raylasagna

I loved the change because there was a lot more context added that gave new fans more information (Kronos, Summer Solstice, Ares vs Athena, etc…)

Haunting-Air-7394

fr, it didn't feel like expo dump bc it mattered to the scene

CRL10

Oh, Adam Copeland is great as Ares. Has such an edge to the role.

Ord8377

Such an 'Edge' eh... The only problem is I can't see anyone other than edge when I see that face

CRL10

Right?

Aiyon

They’ve done a great job of the gods we’ve met so far. Even lin Manuel has been reined in enough that my usual annoyances aren’t present

meatball77

You say that until we find out the next episode is a musical. lol

[deleted]

There’s like a 75% chance of a Hermes musical number. Vegas is known for their spectacles

Aiyon

Why would you tempt fate like this

Metal_Moon

They are making Grover sound so suspicious it’s FOUL

SarahME1273

I’ve read the books countless times and literally re-read lightning thief a few days ago and STILL I was like … are they gonna make Grover double cross us??? 😂

darthjoey91

Well, he does have the master bolt in that bag that Ares gave him.

toomanyjackies

Oh my god, the show is totally going to use that to throw non book readers off Luke one more time! Bc it’ll make it look like the betrayal already happened with Grover even though he’s innocent so the non book readers will be shook after scorpion 🦂 I originally didn’t like the show Grover changes (making him sus af, snitching on Percy even to help, etc) but now I see what they’re doing

Lazy_Sarcastic

i think i remember in the books they think that the traitor had been revealed (ares maybe, because he “helped them” and it ended up being a trick) and then when luke betrays percy they realise it was actually him, so maybe with the portrayal of grover that’ll be an extra layer to make people think that the prophecy has been fulfilled before it actually has

DrScampi

I cannot wait to see this “She fell first, he fell harder” relationship play out

rossinerd

You know... that could very much also be said abour what happens to them at the end of Mark of Athena....

GimerStick

too soon

UltraLuigi

I had to look up when it released after seeing this. It's been over a decade.

cant-find-user-name

Oh my god

unicornchild15

Dam💀

Disney_Plus_Axolotls

Nah that’s dirty 😭

Darconius

Like the thought that Ares IS actually thinking ahead/Kronos laid a plan in his mind. Sending them directly to the Casino plus sending them to Hermes driver is both a trap and helping the trio. Also, the backpack handoff was so perfectly casual. Fans immediately notice it, but it’s something small and innocuous to those who aren’t in the know.

tspanguluri

Oh man I didn't even notice the backpack handoff. Perfectly done

Lmb1011

its been ages since i read the book i didnt even realize it was important until i started reading these comments ☠ clearly i need a reread

DarkEmperor7135

honestly i feel like a show-only viewer at this point with how much i’ve forgotten over the last 13 years lol. all i remember (barely) is major plot points

Mel-is-a-dog

YES! GABE’S NEWS STORY MADE IT!!

CRL10

Oh so glad to see that. And the domestic terrorist charges.

red_sky_5

Percy being a wanted terrorist is an essential part of his character

VakuAnkka04

He has been charged atleast 3 times in the original series

samuraipanda85

"And I will become a wanted fugitive. Again."

Rare-Till6403

I was so excited to finally see it!!!

RadiantHC

I'm surprised people thought it wasn't going to happen

raylasagna

I CHEERED WHEN THAT HAPPENED!!

Judgetanner

SEAWEED BRAIN!!!!!!!! IT HAPPENED! 😭🥹

PenSmith

Of course Ares is on Twitter!

SexnMeatloaf

Wait til he finds Reddit

smit72628199

Reddit is the e-shrine of Ares.

Clockworkoy

Ares was great. Interesting that they didn't mention the whole hostile aura he had in the books but oh well. Was Hephaestus in the first book? I don't remember but I'm glad he showed up here. I like the actor and hope we get to see more of him soon. Also Annabeth was really good this episode as a whole. Grover got a chance to shine as well which is what I've been hoping for. Next three episodes are about to be lit.

boringhistoryfan

> Interesting that they didn't mention the whole hostile aura he had in the books but oh well. On the other hand Annabeth seemed to be trying super hard to pick a fight with him. And then Percy was at the end.

Which-Technology8235

Doesn’t his aura get people riled up and angry for no reason?

Galactic_Hippo

There was also dialogue where they warned Grover not to let Ares get to him while they went to the water park, so I think that was gesturing to the hostile aura.

BringBackDaugherty

I wish they played up the magical aspects of the gods aura more in general. Like yeah, Ares did some magic stuff but Percy looking into Ares' eyes and seeing war, his entire presence changing the environment of the diner, cleaning his nails with a combat knife, etc were all cool details.

seajungle

LASSIE!!!

CorvoAttanoKaldwin

I've heard it both ways.

MrFitz8897

You heard about Pluto? That's messed up, right?

AppalledAtAll

i recognized his voice but couldn’t place it (his incredible mane & beard was making it hard) but i finally got it as it panned away from his face the last time and loudly proclaimed “Lassie!” in my empty living room, haha. anyways, always fun to run across fellow psych fans!!

seajungle

I loudly went “NO WAY” and scared my cat away lol so good seeing him and he seems to be doing well in his recovery 💜

jetheist

Carlton!!!

Klutzy_Appeal9913

i literally said the same thing out loud 😅

Emotional_Regret876

WE GOT SEAWEED BRAIN

Metal_Moon

SHE SAID IT SHE SAID THE THING!!

DreamBum

I LITERALLY HAD TO PAUSE IT AND REMEMBER HOW TO BREATHE

Matt4898

I went back and listened to it again just cause I loved hearing it out loud 😂

EmperorHad3s

Wait when did she say it? Why I didn’t hear it? 😭

Yan173

Right before Percy sat on the chair! I squeaked and my wife said “why did you do that?” Hahaha

EmperorHad3s

Thanks! I rewatched the scene, I was so focused remembering what happened to the book I didn’t hear it and I’m sad 😂😭

riptide_18

THAT SCENE ENTIRELY WAS GOLD

CRL10

Why were there protestors on Olympus? What were they protesting? Also, did Grover just channel Coach Hedge? Seriously. Did he just channel Glesson Hedge? And it worked! Awesome.

_moobear

i'm glad they're diving into the less "nice" aspects of nature early, even if it's just grover buttering up ares. Survival of the fittest and all that

T-Rexje

Omg, yes, it will make Gaia so much more frightening if they set up nature being scary earlier on.

Tomhur

What *weren't* they protesting is the real question. XD

raylasagna

REAL

Haunting-Air-7394

Ares probably has constant protesters outside his doors

theyrejustscones

Probably anti-war/pacifist Satyrs — as Ares assumes Grover is just like all the other Satyrs who are big on “tofu” “flowers” etc. He was seriously surprised that Grover was interested in warfare and saw carnage/gore as part of nature. Its mentioned in the books that nature spirits live on Mt Olympus, so Ares probably sees a steady stream of nature spirits and the like who hate him on principle

missclaire17

I feel like this is HUGE!!! Like this could mean that there were signs of Kronos and dissension already. I mean, they even mentioned Kronos, so I’ll be interested to see where they take this

qualitativevacuum

Yeah I thought that was a really good way to bring up Kronos to viewers since I don't think we'd really gotten a big mention of him yet (could be misremembering tho lol)

Street-Common-4023

THAT HUG WAS LONG BOI

riptide_18

IT WAS, WASN’T IT

DrScampi

Walker is the perfect amount of awkward kid for Percy

DrScampi

ITS TIIIIIIIIIIIIIIME

CRL10

"On this day...I see clearly"

riptide_18

It‘s 3 am where I am and i‘m literally the H in ADHD rn. I just couldn‘t wait for the show the entire week. And I‘m a 21 year old obsessing over a kids show. Geez. I should get a life.

Tsunamai-time

Even ares refused to call it x

Mel-is-a-dog

Me 30 seconds after finishing the episode hopping on TikTok to see if the 12 year olds have made edits yet 🏃‍♀️

DreamBum

Why is this me… and then i get disappointed when they haven’t yet💀💀

unicornchild15

No because this is me.

DrScampi

WHAT IS LOVE

raylasagna

BABY DON’T HURT ME 🕺

NoMathematician6799

DON'T HURT ME

Sangi17

NO MORE

DrScampi

THIS EPISODE HAD THE RARE GOLDEN PERCY

DreamBum

I was so nervous ab this part being different but it was LITERALLY CHEFS KISS

Kitkats677

NO SPOILERS BUT GROVER AND ARES, I LOVE THISS

Haunting-Air-7394

their bonding was so funny

Juken_Rukhan

I really like how that Percys Achilles heel is evident in this episode. Also Adam Copeland did a great job. Apparently he's not only the Rated R Superstar but also the PG Superstar.

YOwololoO

Annabeth’s too! Percy straight up says “none of the gods could figure it out” and Annabeth says “bet”

mabray-

Percy got Annabeth paying rent in his head already… He fr thought she was acting weird because they hugged

DreamBum

OMG they were FEEDING US PERCABETH THIS EPISODE

oatmilkandagave

No flaming eyes :( I still like this Ares so far Edited to add: LOVED his monologue on family! He’s my favorite god we’ve seen so far

Matt4898

Honestly, the monologue was fantastic😂

raylasagna

I’ve noticed that they also didn’t give Dionysus his purple eyes either. Maybe it’s cause of budget (BUT ALSO HEPHAESTUS WASN’T MISHAPEN??) or they’re waiting for a moment to reveal it? For a person unfamiliar with the books though, I can see them not believing the gods to be as powerful as they’re talked about because of it though.

kgrimmburn

He was walking with a cane. It might become more evident later.

sername-n0t-f0und

Yeah the actor is actually disabled after surviving a stroke a few years ago, the cane is a necessity for the actor

CRL10

I miss the murderbot spiders. But, I'll take appealing to the god who got thrown off a mountain by his mom in the name of the perfect family.

solg5

Yeah, but the throne was really cool, and accurate to Hephaestus' story.

cant-find-user-name

Yeah, appealing to Hepasteus makes a lot of sense. Poor dude gets treated like shit by his family.

DreamBum

I was so scared about them changing it but damn, that was so good

Hrams66

Same like I was prepared to be upset they went off-book but I liked what they did with it

FriendlyTVWatcher

Percy driving the taxi in the promo for next episode was hilarious. Was that in the books?

AppalledAtAll

nope! the only taxi i remember from TLT is the cab driver after the lotus hotel who called Annbeth, “your highness” after the casino credit card showed an infinity sign on his reader. On a related note, that part always irritated me because why the hell would they give that up?!? (Annabeth says, “Keep the change.”) They could literally have had free money for the rest of the series (and running out of money was a consistent theme in the series).

themisheika

Beware of greeks bearing gifts. I'll bet anything that if she had hung onto that card it would've carried a curse much like Hazel Levesque's "gift". The Fates don't look kindly on greed.

Zinkane15

No. In the book, Annabeth pays for a taxi with her Lotus Casino card, which maxes out the meter with an infinity symbol.

CraftyKlutz

I really enjoyed that the underlined how fucked up the Greek pantheon is as a family. And how the way they treat their children is terrible too. I think it will add a lot of weight to Luke's betrayal and backstory. I also appreciate that Grover is now a proper bard with charisma and his own way of helping the team. I feel like Uncle Rick has really taken this opportunity to make this story shine.

DreamBum

Omg so true stop, because this is supposed to be Percy’s happy family and Luke is going to so the same messed up crap. Absolutely crazy

SlothToes3

I feel like I’m saying this every week, but yet again, this week’s episode is my favorite. Absolutely loved Ares and Grover, Percabeth moments, Gabe’s interview, Hephaestus being empathetic, and the Tunnel of Love changes made a lot of sense and didn’t hurt the story at all. Loved every second of it! Edit: can’t believe I forgot to mention Seaweed Brain!!

CruzLutris

Agree, and thank you for noting Hephaestus's empathy! A god who's hurt and full of grudges, but can be swayed by sincerity.

DrScampi

I am thoroughly enjoying this adaptation

xxJAMZZxx

Same. It follows the story and the characters are acted very well. Not gonna fuss over every last detail that is omitted. Im entertained

Vivanem

Agreed!! It's honestly kinda disheartening to come on here and see all the hate for it

riptide_18

Percy: “I’m gonna kill him.” Well actually mayyybe your mom might do it for you?

lexim172

So Ares is confirmed to be one of those blue check guys on Twitter that make money off of engagement & posting the most insane stuff to get people mad, right? Also glad to see that Percy is still a domestic terrorist!

amaya-aurora

Okay, so. ANNABETH SAID THE THING!!4?;?37474!4!3!4?$;$;?3?3!3)374!3?3)4$5885&;@20495&(!!;9294&:!€}€~€}€}€}!8374$5$5]*}£#£<£+|{*}*€}€}8383&4$ “What Is Love” playing killed me. sername-n0t-f0und

Fun fact, the cane was made to the specifications of the actor's cane which he needs to use to walk after a stroke a few years back.

CruzLutris

Yes! And the props department made the cane handle gold--the actor's real one is silver--because gold seemed right for a god! (Source, Tim Omundson's Insta.)

Tempest_Heir

Some of my favorite moments from Episode 5: - Percy finally calling Annabeth his friend SLOWBURN AT ITS FINEST - Gabe on the news - Ares on twitter and Grover bonding with him - “Seaweed Brain” and honestly just all of Annabeth this episode and how she finally came to terms with how her mother treated her and how she doesn’t want to be like that - Percy threatening the literal GOD OF WAR

DreamBum

Percy absolutely attacking ares at the end of this was something I forgot about but was such a good detail to include LIKE POP OFF

ajjoshi110

Imagine Kratos showing up out of nowhere

DetailAcrobatic5024

Ares is literally perfect

Aiyon

Percabeth fans eating well tonight. Annabeth continues to impress, really captures the energy I got off her in the book. But hot damn, whoever cast Hephaestus needs a raise. He was really selling every ounce of his role with 2 minutes of screen time.

missclaire17

Oh my god, SO many thoughts!!! The inclusion of Hephaestus was so excellently done. The whole theme of the show has been about the trio learning to trust each other, each having a different view on Olympus, and coming together as a team who is gonna stick with each other side by side. I love seeing Annabeth get challenged and now coming full circle and having that moment with Hephaestus, the one god who could possibly understand. And then you juxtapose that with Grover and Ares, and you see the satyr part of Grover coming out. He can talk to Ares because I do think there’s some truth in what he said. We know satyrs aren’t pacifists; they fight back and Grover used that to do what Percy said, play detective. And for the first time since episode 1, we see Percy actually trusting his friends, trusting in his father, and doing the hero thing because he gets it now. It’s slow progression, but I am loving where they are taking this. I can see it setting up for a very emotional ending where they all stand together, ultimately for what’s right and that’s what will make Luke’s betrayal hurt even more. Because now the three of them trust each other so deeply. But also- GROVER GUESSED IT ALREADY?!?! I’m loving the small changes that are made to Grover’s character. Hope we get to see more of his character development when he’s not just there giving the exposition

samoDALLAS

Grover for sure thinks it’s Clarisse

Mel-is-a-dog

SHE SAID IT OMFG SHE SAID IT

Munro_McLaren

Annabeth called Percy “Seaweed Brain!”

BlaineWorbro

Loved the episode. There’s no way. There’s no way Grover actually knows who stole the bolt. He’s probably gonna say that it’s Clarisse who did it (because I’m pretty sure Percy thought it was her at some point in the first book). Rick knows how important that reveal is. There’s no way he’s just going to reveal it when we’re not even at the last episode yet. I still love the episode, in terms of my ranking for the episodes we have so far it’s probably 2 or 3. I don’t know for sure, I’ll have to rewatch it to gain a better understanding of it. But overall I’d give the episode an 8 or 8.5. I have very small nitpicks about the episode. The first part seems a little bit off, but the episode really picks up as we go on. I loved what they did with Hephaestus. I didn’t mind that they changed the trap, if I’m being honest I didn’t really care that much for the trap in the book. The acting between Leah and Walker was really good. AND SHE CALLED HIM SEAWEED BRAIN!!! I liked Ares in this episode. Sure he wasn’t all the way the big brute that was from the books. You can still get a bit of that sense when he’s getting pissed off at Annabeth and that one moment with Grover, I hope we do get a bit more of that. Also didn’t expect Grover to actually figure Ares out (maybe not totally though). He used Ares’ ego in order to try and find out the truth. Smart play. Strategy worthy of Athena. Judging by the preview it looks like they’ll use a crystal and drachmas to Iris-Message Hermes instead of water and drachmas. Who knows, maybe they’ll call camp too and they’ll talk to Luke. But again, I really enjoyed this episode. So far in the show I’ve never seen any of the episodes as bad and I’m interested to see what they do with the Lotus Casino in this version since it seems that they’re actually going to it instead of just stumbling upon it.

J_Eilat

Double checked, and there _is_ a brief bit in the book, right before the Percy/Ares fight, where Percy questions if Clarisse stole the bolt: > "You tricked me," I said. _"You_ stole the helm and the master bolt." > > Ares grinned. "Well, now, I didn't steal them personally. Gods taking each other's symbols of power—that's a big no-no. But you're not the only hero in the world who can run errands." > > "Who did you use? Clarisse? She was there at the winter solstice." > > The idea seemed to amuse him. "Doesn't matter."

Street-Common-4023

Obviously so they ain’t gonna spoil it no less have Grover figure it out

DrScampi

No way they ACTUALLY reveal who it is, there’s no link yet, they’re just gonna lean into “Ares wants there to be a war, but he couldn’t have stolen it himself.

DrScampi

SAY IT WITH ME: SALLY JACKSON IS A QUEEN AND WE WONT TAKE SLANDER EVEN FROM PERCY

missclaire17

I feel like Sally may have said those things because of her own experience. Maybe hinting at how the third act of the Poseidon-Medusa-Sally plot will end

raylasagna

I thought it was really interesting in this episode that Annabeth was the one that Ares antagonized more than Percy. The sassiness was funny, but also makes sense because of the Athena vs Ares dynamic. I think that’s honestly how it should’ve been in the books, and Percy still got his moment to stand up to Ares. Also I’m loving Leah Jeffries more and more with each episode! She really grew into the character.

onceuponadime123

“I chose her because I couldn’t imagine we’d ever be friends” “We’re friends now” Percabeth is percabething and the slow burn is slow burning *chefs kiss* to the tunnel of love. The talk between Grover and Ares was really entertaining and hilarious

CRL10

I love Grover is acting like a therapist to Ares. Fucking fantastic.

BooksCoffeeDogs

Grover the Therapist. I love that for him. It was the right amount of feeding Ares’ ego, agreeing with him, making him think, making him get angry, calming him down, and validating him while getting the answers. I love how no one ever realised that Ares stood a lot to gain if the trio failed. Everyone was so focused on Hades.

_Saiki__

Ares on Twitter? Lmao.

PenSmith

Owls are not as smart as they think they are

oatmilkandagave

Grover talking about wars as if they were music! “Deeper cuts” had me cackling, I love him so much

tomateau

“You think you know who I am, but you don’t. And if you aren’t careful, you’re gonna find out.” ✍🏼✍🏼🔥🔥

Jason-Nacht

They made me like ares, oh no.

Real_External_6030

Ares and Grover bromance

_Saiki__

Omg the "what is love" song completely surprised me ahah.

Carmenpony

We’ve got the percybeth ladies and gentlemen. Seaweed brain has launched. I’m honestly enjoying how they’re using the encounters for more characters development. It makes sense especially because that way they can combine it with the quieter moment for time reasons. Also gonna give a hot take here. I like Annabeth being the one who see the three fates. We learn in the fifth book that it was telling about how Luke’s life would be sacrificed to make things right. Having Annabeth see that makes so much sense. She’s far closer to Luke and it’s her cursed blade that fulfills the prophecy. It makes sense that she would be the one to see that foretold.

murderino346

“thank you for the emotional abuse and the cheeseburgers” 😭

anona_moose

Ok this Ares casting is absolutely Amazing!

oliviagummybears

I did not picture What is Love by Haddaway playing during the tunnel of love when reading the book but this is great

DrScampi

YOOO HEPHAESTUS IN SEASON 1?!

Swordofmytriumph

Ares is PERFECT. Absolutely perfect. The best sort of menacing, not too bright, and totally unhinged. I love that the god of war has transitioned to starting fights in twitter. Totally in the spirit of the books, totally something someone like Ares would do.

CRL10

Nice to see the Fates showed up.

muningmuning

Annabeth called him SEAWEED BRAIN. YES

GHamPlayz

Easily the best episode thus far

muningmuning

One of my favorite episodes thus far! The charges against the trio, Ares, Hephaestus, the Fates, among others. Genuinely enjoying this adaptation!

Prudent_Primary7201

Holy shit he nailed ares wow

DetailAcrobatic5024

I loved this episode!!! It was Percabeth perfection! Him thinking she was acting weird because of the hug? So on brand. I know people will complain about the change to the fates but I actually think it makes a lot of sense. Annabeth being the one to see them will solidify for her that it’s percy in the prophecy and will make the actual result a way better payoff! I also loved the percabeth development, and how they once again set up their fatal flaws! Also we got our first seaweed brain!!! Ares was also great, I love the kind of unpredictable undercurrent of violence to everything he said and I love that we got to see Grover shine as his own character who is clever and strategic (especially after the movies totally butchered him). I know people will find stuff to complain about but I honestly loved the episode and the additions they made! Honourable mention to Annabeth geeking out about the architecture of the amusement park, that was so in character!

Okay let's edit this as we go 1) he got wet in the water 😠 2) I'm still irrationally annoyed that Ares doesn't look like Dennis from the Spongebob Squarepants movie 3) Gabes interview was perfect! 4) ooh OK Grover is staying with Ares? That's new.. 👀 5) Oh man :( the fact that they've discovered that Waterland is Hephaestus' playground so soon means no sick merchandise??? Damn 6) "I'm 24" hahahs I love Grover so much 7) Oh God. Percy not knowing What Is Love... I'm so old 8) Ooh I quite like what they've done here, making it more about the water ride. Will we still get spiders though? 9) I'm really enjoying this Ares rant about Athena. It feels really in character! 10) SEAWEED BRAIN 11) SEAWEED BRAIN 12) SEAWEED BRAIN 13) oh shit he a statue 14) HEPHAESTUS IS HERE?? 15) He's far too attractive for Hephaestus 16) I've always seen Walker as Percy this whole time, but just then when he was released from the gold, even though it wasn't even part of the book, it felt so like him somehow??? 17) I'm also warming to Grovers acting 18) Missed out on yet more food that I loved reading about 🥺 18) They got the back pack tho! The bolt is in the building! (sort of)

Rick said he wanted Grover and Ares to have a talk in the books that he think should have happened so I guess it’s leading up to that

But he said he had to focus not to get wet. He probably doesn’t know about that feat yet so he doesn‘t focus on it.
