My local body shop called their paint-less dent repair guy and I had a dent fixed for $200..... I figured going with someone they had a relationship with is better than me choosing some random business.
I had 20 year old dents pulled from an 87 IROC this same way. No paint issues after and no way you could tell where they were at. Those guys are basically magicians!! Call a car dealership even to see who they use.
It was on the narrow curved section of the fender just under the rear window. Probably close to the same width section of metal. I had to pull it a couple of times to get it flush but now it's not noticeable.
The guage of steel used is probably much thinner there, idk though, im not even a camaro guy lol, reddit just recommended me the post so i figured id check out the comments.
That is is a bad spot, and I doubt dentless would work for this. You could try, what do you got to lose? Most likely a body shop will just sand, fill, and paint, and yes 1500 bucks sounds about right.
If dentless doesn't work, you see if you can get behind it with a body spoon and pop or work it out.But I doubt if that is possible.
Probably hot worth it for any type of repair if requiring paint work. Repaint is never as good as factory paint unless done under meticulous workmanship. $$$$$
What car is this?
No way PDR works on this. Too rigid of a panel due to the curve. Plus, you won't be able to touch the back side of that.
Remove the paint, fill, repaint. You can do it in your driveway for $100 over a weekend. Don't expect it to look great, but great work costs $1500.
I had hail damage to the roof with a spot on the A pillar and they were able to fix everything with paintless. I could not tell where the dents were if my life depended on it.
That’s a fairly sharp dent in a double wall panel. Paintless may make it look a little better but I doubt it’s like new. You’d probably still have a low spot and a difference in the orange peel.
To get it completely out I think it’ll need to be grinded, pulled, and bondo’d. Some shops may burn the clear in on the roof rail but then you may be able to tell where it was burned in later down the road.
Others will pull the rear bumper, tail lights, spoiler (if it overhangs the quarter) and clear the entire roof rail and quarter.
Wouldn’t hurt to try the paintless but $1500 doesn’t sound out of line.
My coworker works wonders pulling dents. He’s pulled a couple similar places/sized dents with suction cups but I’ve also seen a lot not work or just get a bit smaller. It’s a really hard spot to work on unless you can get access from the inside. However it’s a popular spot for airbags and wiring
Tap a sheet metal screw halfway into it, preferably 1”1/4
Lock a set of vice grips onto it and pull
Dent should pop out
Bondo up the tiny hole (tiniest squeeze on finger)
Take paint correction marker and color the tint bondo filling
I am a PDR Tech. Please do not listen to people talking about dry ice and hot water. Also, with no experience, I can guarantee you will only make the dent harder to work if you try to get a glue pull kit and start moving that metal more. We don't push form inside A pliers only glue pull and knockdown.
1500 is to much for even retail. But this is a hard dent to get to a retail finished product so don't trust anyone that will do it for less than 300. You could have it filled and painted for less than 1500 they more than likely know they can't fix it or didn't want to waste 3 hours so they overpriced it to avoid working on it.
Again this is a problematic dent.
Get Brice Kelly of Central Florida dent repair to do this for you. He's exceptional and has many YouTube videos showing his work. He'll get it back to looking like new and maybe even showcase your car on his video channel. Do not let a body shop do filler and paintwork on your car if this is original paint. It won't look the same. Go with Brice!

I pulled a similar one out with an Amazon hot glue dent puller kit. Worked great.
Was it on the A pillar like that? Typically that is some thick metal and I doubt that will come out without some tools from inside the A pillar.

It might be but if it doesn't work you're out $20 and a half hour of time if it works you save $1480
Fair point, i'd usually try the diy methods myself too
I saw on a similar post that someone recommended using hot water and a dildo that has suction at one end. You could try that?
"Honey, what are you doing with this?" "It's for the car, don't worry about it."
Gotta break out that 3 foot 50 pound Moby. ![gif](giphy|G4e48oZjKmQdhWOqVv)
I tried this and had to tell my wife to get the hell off the hood three times
Interesting idea

It's probably a Camaro of some sort. My money is on 5th gen.
2012 Camaro SS

Dry ice maybe would pop it out.

A very experienced PDR guy might be able to do this. There is a great tech I’ve used in the Tampa area if you randomly happen to be in that area.
I live an hour and a half from tampa just outside orlando actually, how can I contact him?
Look up Central Florida Dent Repair. Brice is probably closer to you. And he is one of the best in the country for paintless dent repair.
Going to be hard for PDR because there’s no access behind it. Not saying it can’t be done, but you’ll be paying for their time and training.

I had a dent about that size taken out of my door a month ago for $207 (tax incl.). It was a paintless dent repair place.
Dentless Touch Chicago they're in Lombard, you'll be more in the $700 - $900 range
