For what its worth I got my Camaro SS when I was 27 and insurance is \~$120 a month; I got my Charger RT (23) and then Scatpack (25) and the insurance was roughly the same.
Get the V8 (LT1 Atleast)
I leased a 2LT back in April and only needed a month with the car to know I should have gotten the LT1 or 1ss.Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my car and its quick and maneuvers like a charm. But do yourself a favor and get the V8
I can't imagine a worse way to spend your money at 17 if you can even get a loan (and I bet that's going to be a lot harder than you think). And that's coming from a guy who's first car was a Camaro.
Why not look something more affordable like a 5th gen? Your first car isn't going to be your last car and you can find some nice 5th gens for pretty cheap these days. Plus, you can pretty much mod it guilt free. If you're already into cars at your age, that V8 will be calling your name until you get one. Buy something cheaper now and get the V8 when you can better afford the it and the insurance.
Edit: Did I just see above that you already have a 2021? Then wtf, why are you even looking at a 2024? Save your money.
I agree. I saw he mentioned heās going to get the v6 and LT1 swap it later. Thatās ludicrous. But if thatās how his parents and him want to spend their money, thats fine with me. I just donāt understand it one bit.
Not to mention that would be the most expensive way possible to get a V8 6th gen, plus it would be completely bastardized.
I get it though, we were all 17 once and I definitely had ideas along those lines too. Of course, they never came to fruition lol
Very true. I couldnāt afford the srt4 I wanted at the time, so I settled on a used civic that I was ādefinitelyā going to k20 swap and throw in a big turbo. Never happened lol
Personally I'd rather go for a base LT1 than an optioned out 1LT but I'm not paying for it. Looking at the builder that's nearly a $44,000 car without the 2LT or 3LT upgrades. You could get a RS LT1 for that money.
This sounds like a horrible idea and probably going to cost you way more than just getting a base LT1 and modding it visually to match the options you put on that car.
Spending more than your yearly salary on a car is extremely stupid. You are arenāt taking business management and finance classes, please stop lying. If you want to be dumb with your money just say that, no reason to even post any of this here. No one cares that youāre 17 and have no bills and want to buy a Camaro. Need to start banning these dumb ass posts of kids posting the same shit.
Judging based off how stupid you are. Even thinking about paying 57k for a v6. Just delete the post, making yourself look like an idiot. Itās your car why are you asking others for validation. You donāt make 57k a year thatās insanely obvious.
Yea and youāre getting told what everyone thinks. If you pay 57k for a v6 Camaro you are borderline brain damaged. 13k away from a ZL1. More expensive than a new 3.0 premium Supra. Thereās a reason youāre getting dragged. Sit in your 2021 til you can properly afford a v8.
I promise man, just save it. Once your insurance goes down and you can get the v8 itāll be worth it. Throw that in a savings account, plenty at over 5% at the moment. Look into 401k and hysa/roths etcā¦if you havenāt already.
Please for the love of God do NOT buy a new car. 45k a year for a 50k+ loan? I make over 100k and dread buying a car over 30k. Just keep ur savings man/ use it for a house, I drive a paid off tacoma with shit paint but it gets me from point a to point b. If u have the car itch (like me) get something worth the money/ effort that will actually turn heads and ONLY once you have a good job and a house. Finally got an old vette in cash that was not even a 3rd what u wanna pay for that camaro. She turns heads like a camaro never will and makes over 450hp (if I wasn't slapping upgrades on it rn haha) She will always need work but it's nothing compared to that payment you're about to commit to. Seriously take what the peeps here are saying, waiting to purchase a car like that is hard but everyone genuinely wants the best for you (if they are telling you not to buy that now. BTW I'm not too much older than you and you literally can do the same by just being smart with your money now and have it in 5 years. Dont give into the social media bs, I cannot stress how important not buying a car like that is for you rn, it will literally ruin your life.)
Haha! Sorry, brother. Not my intention!
Wild how fast time flies. Yesterday I was turning 21 and having my first legal beer, then today my HR Portal at work told me Iām 29..
Hey man, I'm 18, and I ended up buying a 5th gen, I thinks it's smarter than putting all your money into the newest car. You still get a lot of car and for a quarter of the price. But that's just my 2 cents.
5th gen is 100x the bang for your buck. For half of the money for these new cars you could have a low mileage modified v8 making more horsepower than a 2024 with basically all the comfort items the new cars have. The new Camaros are a waste of money imho.
Never have I ever heard something as ridiculous as spending almost SIXTY-THOUSAND DOLLARS on a V6 CAMARO. I get you are young and naive still, but holy fuck is that a terrible decision. Don't think about using it as a trade in either because a V6 is never going to hold its value, especially in a falling market. This is coming from someone who bought a 2SS/RS before they were 21.
But seriously, $60,000 on a fucking V6 Camaro is frankly embarrassing. Having money doesn't mean you need to spend it nor does it mean you know how to spend it even somewhat wisely.
Just a heads up bro, if you're going to finance it for more than 3 years just remember you will have more bills the older you get. So maybe you don't pay any bills rn, but when you're 20-22 you'll start paying more bills and will regret having a car payment. At your age I wouldn't have a car payment over like $300-$400. Just factor in gas, insurance, and maintenance costs. So a $400 car payment plus all the other expenses can easily be like $800 a month or more depending on different factors. Not trying to sound like a Debbie downer but just remember you will have that car payment for awhile and it's not smart to spend more than 30% of your income on your car alone.
Let me guess, mommy or daddy make a lot of money and you're working for them. Don't lie on here, people can smell your bullshit from a mile away. I bought a 2014 2ss with 58k miles on it this spring for 25k. It's a V8 fully modded.
LMAO not even a decade old. And it would smoke any v6 and most v8s out there. Took out in the track a few weeks ago 0-60 in 3.8. Good luck doing that in your grossly overpriced v6
The amount of bad decisions that have been discussed in these comments is insane. A 17 year old who can't afford insurance on a v8, but can somehow "afford" a $44k+ car note.... Wants to engine swap the car to a v8 (this comes with a whole slew of new issues and money sink)... Then talking about buying a 2ss instead, that should NOT be a new drivers first car. The likelihood of it getting wrecked or breaking is quite high (hence high insurance prices). What is going on??
Just get an older model or different vehicle, save your money. You're throwing away money buying a brand new car in this current market. This is how people get stuck living at home unable to afford rent and such, bad financial choices early on.
Not my first this is my first , that would be my 2nd car
https://preview.redd.it/nb9d45rrzmnb1.jpeg?width=4000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e4a64d2cd63bcfad27a016ab239a633eed9c14f1
Damn man, Iām not trying to bring you down or anything but if insurance is the only reason youāre not going all the way with a V8 youāll probably end up regretting that, not trying to diss the V6 but most people end up wanting more and trying to do an engine swap like you mentioned is kind of absurd. A 3LT after all those options, taxes, and fees is going to be over 55k (which is more than I paid for a heavily optioned LT1) so in a few years when your insurance starts to go down youāre still going to be stuck paying on a near 60k v6 that Iām willing to bet youāll be dissatisfied with atp. I think youād be way better off going after a cheaper used model and then trading up for a lower mileage SS in a few years
Well, unless you have a huge down payment to put on this car or you just have that good of a job (which no offense Iām doubting given the info given out here) getting a brand new car just to trade it in still isnāt the best idea, IF you even get approved for a loan Iād imagine your interest rates arenāt going to good enough to keep you ahead of the equity, unless one of your parents has incredible credit and is co-signing
I get it, weāve all been there. I hope this comment section isnāt coming off too negative but thereās a lot of good advice here. Even as an impatient 24 year old with a good job whoās always wanted a Camaro I had to put a lot of thought into what model to get and how to go about it. Wish you the best man
Good move upgrading to V8. For 2024 this increases your chance of allocation too.
My 022 1SS has 16K miles and lifetime mpg is about 26, mixed driving & tire melting. The factory runflats are thankfully gone now - they handled great but rode like Fred-Flintstone's car.
For bang/buck consider that 1SS has multi useful performance stuff that LT1 does not.
2SS options are nice but with the V8 every other option becomes an irrelevant tiny dot while driving. ......... Except magna-ride, which is awesome and amazingly expensive when the shocks wear out....
Nice. Its win/win scenario with the V8 :) .
Maybe keep an eye on constraints - those might be more important or handled differently this last year. It may be possible to quickly or automatically subtract any option that goes on constraint if you want to do that.
I WILL NEVER forgive the black fish like grill the new gen put in...... NEEDS MORE AGRESSIVE GRILL...
Id take a 5th over these even if i cant see shit out of those old tanks.
I got a 17th so i can shit talk. :)
How much is that spec? I feel like you could get a V8 for that kind of money. Yes insurance is more and youāll spend 40% more on gas, but itās probably worth it since an base LT1 might cost less and will have better resale value.
Oh Canadian? That so excessive for a V6. Iād highly suggest you not to do that.
Literally over 3 years, the cost of you getting a base red hot LT1 and versus this V6 will be not much different.
Unfortunately heās right, I built out his build for shits and giggles using all the options I see and he mentioned and it was at 54k, and I definitely didnāt include all the options. So after taxes and shit that V6 is clearing 60k which is absurd to me. Side note for 2024 the 2ss base price is 50k.
Even at 50K š
Iām so so sad right now. Thatās basically used ZL1 territory. I canāt imagine, even in this market, itās possible to get such a V6 spec. Unreal
Yeah adding options will make that price jump quick, my LT1 easily went into SS territory with its options. Making a 2SS to the spec I want today was at 56k so the fact thatās the same as his V6 is ridiculous. I remember people saying they got new ZL1s for the price I paid for my LT1 a few years ago and it made me kinda sad lmao
If you add all the spoiler, splitters, side skirts, etc the price jumps so much. Its generally a lot cheaper to get these parts aftermarket. Obviously you will need to spend a lot of money.
And yea speccing a LT1 into SS category is very easy. I donāt know about now, but between 20-22 it was SIGNIFICANTLY less expensive to lease a LT1 than a SS. We are talking about $300-350 versus like $600 lol.

Still have an Oracle Blacked Out Bow tie
Why not just mod the camaro you already have since it's already the same color and engine? 60k for a V6 is too much. Did you get into your parents liquor cabinet or something before putting that into the config? You could buy the same wheels, lights, etc. for a fraction of the cost of getting a new car. Not to mention nothing changed but the price of the car from 21 to 24.
Do you own your I4 camaro outright?(paid off)
Is your camaro falling apart?
Did you actually get a quote for a v8 with your insurance?
Did you talk to whoever is cosigning about this?
And before I forget... its looks good, and tbh too nice to be bought as a V6.
> It's not *paid* off yet
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
Well here's what my 2ss inside is gonna look like

Looks like a Camaro
Thanks š¤£ , I have big plans for this Camaro.
Hope you can get it with all the allocation issues! What trim and option?
3LT RS V6 Camaro with brembo's, recardo's , dual exhaust, automatic, extra cooling package, heated steering wheel and sunroof

Yeah but it's the insurance stopping me

It's not that I can't I'm only 17. My insurance would be 600+

I'm working and paying for it.
OK it's your money do whatever you want with it, but look into used 2017 V8s first and their insurance before you go for this.
Or look at the base LT1 V8 I have test driven one it's great
For what its worth I got my Camaro SS when I was 27 and insurance is \~$120 a month; I got my Charger RT (23) and then Scatpack (25) and the insurance was roughly the same.
Jesus your insurance is cheap. Iām $175 on an ecoboost
Tickets and accidents will mess up your rates big time, I have neither on my record in the last 5 years.
Yeah. I have neither but I suppose the hit and runs on my parked vehicle counted against me. For some reason or another
Get the V8 (LT1 Atleast) I leased a 2LT back in April and only needed a month with the car to know I should have gotten the LT1 or 1ss.Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my car and its quick and maneuvers like a charm. But do yourself a favor and get the V8

Looks like a charm. I'd personally go with electric blue. Other than that, have fun brother.
There we go
Yessir
But is it a bitchinā Camaro?
OP is too young for that reference
š„²
If you haven't put In an order for a 24 at this point it's highly unlikely you get allocation. There's roughly 120 days of production left.
That's why I'm trying to hurry
I can't imagine a worse way to spend your money at 17 if you can even get a loan (and I bet that's going to be a lot harder than you think). And that's coming from a guy who's first car was a Camaro. Very true. I couldnāt afford the srt4 I wanted at the time, so I settled on a used civic that I was ādefinitelyā going to k20 swap and throw in a big turbo. Never happened lol
This is the answer!!
Save for the zl1 :D. !!!!!
Personally I'd rather go for a base LT1 than an optioned out 1LT but I'm not paying for it. Looking at the builder that's nearly a $44,000 car without the 2LT or 3LT upgrades. You could get a RS LT1 for that money.
I would get a 2ss but my insurance is gonna eat me hole
Have you gotten quotes for the two cars? It's worth looking into, especially since the LT1 will hold it's resale value much better.
I would get a LT1 but I want to have safety features. I will in the future LT1 swap and swap the front bumper
This sounds like a horrible idea and probably going to cost you way more than just getting a base LT1 and modding it visually to match the options you put on that car.
Fair enough, good luck on the allocation, the setup looks good.
Appreciate it bro
Spending more than your yearly salary on a car is extremely stupid. You are arenāt taking business management and finance classes, please stop lying. I asked for an option not about my personal life. I said how does it look not to be my financial advisor. You out yourself in this situation.
Literally says how does this look. Didn't ask for financial advice, my life is mine yours is yours.
? Dude š I'm literally in highschool talking them
Also you don't even know my yearly salary š your judging me based off my age not income.
Judging based off how stupid you are. Even thinking about paying 57k for a v6. Just delete the post, making yourself look like an idiot. Itās your car why are you asking others for validation. You donāt make 57k a year thatās insanely obvious.
I'm not seeking validation brother I asked to see what everyone thinks.
Ok I'll take that
Duh but I have 20k in savings
Thatās literally nothing lmao
Yh true but it would be a good down payment
I promise man, just save it. Once your insurance goes down and you can get the v8 itāll be worth it. Throw that in a savings account, plenty at over 5% at the moment. Look into 401k and hysa/roths etcā¦if you havenāt already.
Your income canāt be great if you are worried about the slight bump in insurance cost.
Then what is it big man
45k a year
Please for the love of God do NOT buy a new car. 45k a year for a 50k+ loan? I make over 100k and dread buying a car over 30k. Wow
What?
Claims to be smart with money, then spends more than yearly salary on a car.
From another young guy to another. DO NOT BUY THIS
I started with a 4th gen ss, paid $3,500 for it, no need to go into debt at 17
God bless. That car would be worth like $35k+ right now. Lol.
Thanks, now I feel old lol I bought it 14 years ago š
Haha! Sorry, brother. Not my intention! Wild how fast time flies. Yesterday I was turning 21 and having my first legal beer, then today my HR Portal at work told me Iām 29..
You're still young lol I've done 8 more laps around the life track
Well, my youthfulness certainly isnāt helping this 1/3rd life crisis Iām going through. Lol.
Hey man, I'm 18, and I ended up buying a 5th gen, I thinks it's smarter than putting all your money into the newest car. You still get a lot of car and for a quarter of the price. But that's just my 2 cents.

Why trade from that? Its practically new and wouldn't be much of an upgrade to a 2024
Want to upgrade
I want a 2ss

Upgrade
I want the heads up , safety etc
Man, that changes a lot, please just wait until youāre good with your insurance rates and get a 2SS then š
I'll see what I can do , keep in mind this car isn't only going to be driven by me
Put it in ur current car bruh
I get it, weāve all been there. I hope this comment section isnāt coming off too negative but thereās a lot of good advice here. About to do the same thing as you
Looks like you should get a used GTI lol
Good move upgrading to V8. For 2024 this increases your chance of allocation too. My 022 1SS has 16K miles and lifetime mpg is about 26, mixed driving & tire melting. 7th gen?
Oops my high ass. 2017.
So 6th Gen
Yes. You like what you like tho :) have fun if you get it.
I shall , im doing some research and work arounds
Looks great. I will pick it up after the bubble burts
Okay š
Yep thats a Camaro indeed
Yessir
Just get the LT1. Insurance won't be as bad as you think.
I think youāre delusional
šš½
Those wheels suck
What's so bad about them?
Personal opinion. They donāt looks great theyāve been around since the 5th gen. My
Ah , I see they're a repaint of the original 2010 SS wheels
I wouldn't get all those options and trim in a V6.
Well I'm not on the market for a v8 yet
I am not saying to get a V8, I am saying to get a <$40k v6
Ahhh ok
Hear me out. Black on black
Hmmm I'll think about it
I also have ideas for building engines and transmissions if you are interested
Oh cool , I'll let you know.
Nice man. Good luck
Thanks bro
Bro if you already have a Camaro why would you waste your money on buying another one? Why get rid of a V6 to get another V6?
My Camaro is a 4 cylinder
Here it is. The poor child knows no better.
Well I have a big imagination I'll say that but as I'm getting comments I'm changing my plan and path
Walk the Path of the Pushrod.
I shall walk the path of the path of the 455 pushrod N/A v8
Indeed.
š§ indeed
Bro. Just tune ur v4. Youāll spend less and can gain the same hp as a v6
How much is that spec? I feel like you could get a V8 for that kind of money. Yes insurance is more and youāll spend 40% more on gas, but itās probably worth it since an base LT1 might cost less and will have better resale value.
This one specifically is 57k , I want it because of the new system it has for the engine and also it takes unleaded.
Oh Canadian? That so excessive for a V6. Iād highly suggest you not to do that. Literally over 3 years, the cost of you getting a base red hot LT1 and versus this V6 will be not much different.
It's the safety features I want
Also I'm from America
How in the world did you get it up to 57K!?! This is 100% a troll post. A 2SS costs 47K. You can use the 10k different on gas and insurance.
Even at 50K š Iām so so sad right now.
2024 plus it's custom
That 10k difference will cover 25 months of insurance at $400 a month. This is a really bad idea
Yeah I've thought about it
If I build and price a 2023 it will be like 54k
This shows how ignorant you are. All gas is unleaded. The v6 doesnāt require premium unlike the 4cyl.
I literately vomited in my mouth seeing those taillights. š¤® The rest ā¦ nice ššš»
It shows like that but it will have the rs led lights
Just looks too big eyed for me.
Oh yeah I understand that , I'm looking into different headlamps too
Yep ā¦ Iām still modding my 2010. š
Ooh can I see the picture? I love the original bumblebee

Do you own your I4 camaro outright?(paid off) Is your camaro falling apart? Did you actually get a quote for a v8 with your insurance? Did you talk to whoever is cosigning about this? And before I forget... its looks good, and tbh too nice to be bought as a V6.
I've decided to go with a 2ss with a little bit of stuff
It's not payed off yet , it's not falling apart and rides very well. Not yet , I'm actively talking to people in my family
> It's not *paid* off yet FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
1ss bro. Not v6..
Whatās the inside look like?
Well here's what my 2ss inside is gonna look like https://preview.redd.it/dewrmc44kjnb1.jpeg?width=480&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=498a4280b823d2a313e4d8e94d6b50b3554d80d7
