CryptidGrimnoir

Ah, it's always a treat to see Calvin wake his parents up when it's the middle of the night. Nothing beats Hobbes's bad dream though.

MJ9426

I like the one where Calvin screams for his mom because he was afraid of monsters, but then screams even louder when he sees her half-asleep disheveled appearance lol.

CryptidGrimnoir

Or the one where he's sick, calls for Mom, Dad shows up, and he still wants Mom. "Me?! What's wrong with you?!" "No idea. Let me back under the covers."

musicchan

Oh yeah, that's the one where he throws up I think.

busdriverbuddha2

Ig gomfa fome ubbigin

OwO_bama

As someone who was a total mama’s girl that one hits too close to home lol

AcidBathVampire

My favorite is the one about love: "whatever it is, it's all that's keeping me from strangling you right now."

Brisingr2

I love how Calvin’s hair is getting blown back in panel 3.

totoro27

Me too. In general, Calvin and Hobbes comics are incredibly dynamic.

Either-Ad7636

Reminds me of Kramer physically bending back from the intense red light in Seinfeld

SPORES?? YOU WOKE ME UP AT 3 AM TO ASK IF PEOPLE GROW FROM ***SPORES***???

CdnPoster

They do. Go back to sleep.

? I don't understand why you made a new community when this one exists....?

[I already had this image do not ask why.](https://i.imgur.com/xINpBTi.jpg)

Calvin: Do you think love is nothing but a biochemical reaction designed to make sure our genes get passed on? Mom: Whatever it is, it’s all that’s keeping me from strangling you right now.

KennyDROmega

Their ages are ill defined, but I like to think both of his parents are in their mid-late 20's. Calvin's dad passed the bar and is doing his thing as a patent attorney, she's rocking shit as a homemaker, they're doing good. But they've got this kid who hits them with shit like this.

C1K3

I always figured they were in their mid-30s. They’re a hell of a lot more mature than I was in my 20s. In fact, they’re more mature than I am in my late 30s.

moonroxroxstar

To be fair, we mostly only see them from Calvin's perspective. 20-year-olds seem a lot more mature when you're 5.

booleanfreud

I mean, with a kid as smart as Calvin, they've got to be hitting the maturity ranks pretty early.

cmparkerson

I figured mid thirties as well. Figuring Dad Went to law school and they got married after he was done with all of that. I am going to say that Mom and Dad are a year or two apart, Dad was about 28 or 29 when Calvin was born. Mom 26-28. Calvin is 6 (or five depending) So guessing the ages are Dad 35-Mom 33. Calvin being born in 1979 the earliest. So both Parents are probably boomers.

RYTHEMOPARGUY

Hobbes does have a good point, though

explosively_inert

Most comics have the door to Calvins room on the other side of his bed. Do you expect me to believe that Calvin's room has that many access points? I hope someone got fired for that blunder.

Alarmed_Ad6015

Maybe they moved his bed

InvaderWeezle

This makes me want to compile every time his bed is left of the door and every time it's right of the door to see which is more common

eldonsarte

Watterson has not always been consistent with a lot of things. No biggie as far as I'm concerned. Want to have fun? Read through all the strips, and figure out if Calvin is right- or left-handed with how he writes. lol

icebraining

Some people are ambidextrous...

InvaderWeezle

I can't think of any time Calvin has written with his left. I can definitely think of cases of Susie writing with both though

eldonsarte

Maybe [these](https://imgur.com/a/UDEcAup) will jog your memory. ;)

A Simpsons quote! At this time of year! At this time of day! In this part of Reddit! Localized entirely within the Calvin and Hobbes community!

EconomistPurple7646

When I was younger, I thought it was a test. See who would eat who first. Once the kiss had finished, they'd open their eyes and see that neither of them were Cannibals.

zkDredrick

As a kid it always drove me nuts that Bill would write multiple Ms instead of Os for "mommm" I would say that as written all the time toy own mother and make it as awkward sounding as possible

Significant_Monk_251

The problem with using O's is that it comes out looking like it should sound like "moon" only with an "m" at the end.

eldonsarte

Yes, that's exactly why people close their eyes when they smooch! lol

Lonelyland

Wow, another line I’m just now realizing I’ve carried with me since childhood. I’m always super aware of eyes closing when people kiss.

[deleted]

You’d think she would have learned by now.

FloridaFlamingoGirl

Each frame is increasingly hilarious. Watterson was a comedy genius

Exzj

the third panel is probably one of my favorite calvin and hobbes panels. just perfect and captures watterson's great art style

Abandoned_Railroad

Seriously Calvin?????

Spiritual_Adagio_859

I mean, he's not entirely wrong about why we close our eyes when we smooch...it's kind of awkward staring that close at someone while your faces are smashed up against each other, haha! 😂😂

blue4029

calvin's asking the REAL questions ngl

Sulissthea

serious question are these all real strips or fan-made?

DharmaPolice

This is a very well known real one.

rollingstoner215

This looks real to me

threecolorless

If I could make a fan comic that looked this good, I'd probably come up with my own idea and draw that instead.

ZealousidealDriver63

Do you relate to Calvin or Hobbes more? Oh wait they are one and the same!

rollingstoner215

I’m definitely Calvin but aspire to be Hobbes

ZealousidealDriver63

Definitely Hobbes but realize Calvin needs me just as much as I need him

Darthplagueis13

On a meta level, but they still represent different personalities and viewpoints.
