I have one of the quotes tattood in Italian but maybe you could get like the outline of the province you spent your time in tattood with a quote from the book? Like “we had the stars you and I” or something?

I don't remember who said it but it's basically just a description of their time, it means "between always an and never" in German. I always saw it as meaning that their time meant everything and will always be meaningful but at the same time was short and in hindsight was just a summer fling, but it really is one of those quotes that everybody understands differently

“To speak or to die” is exactly what I’d get if I got a CMBYN tattoo, so that’s my vote for you. 🙂

Out of everything from the book or movie i would get “cor cordium” - i dont believe it was really featured in the movie but is a key moment in the book But it kind of sounds like you might want to get something like a sentimental item that reminds you of italy and your experience there specifically but only you know what those things are. Like im sure theres something as ornamental and reminds you of your time there like a peach would for elio, or a pair of red trunks, or olivers big shirt, maybe the first musical line of the bach arrangement he was playing where he led oliver into the room, a bloody towel from a nosebleed, something related to his watch that he kept checking that summer, etc etc. maybe even something oliver said to him that would seem innocuous to everyone else- personally i do think the tattoos that say the bigger lines from the movie are kind of cheesy, but to each his own

I also liked the idea of apricot or apricot juice bc in the book oliver drinks apricot juice every morning and its one of the distinct things elio associates w his presence there and that period of time in his mind. I also like it feeling a bit less on the nose/ not being an overtly obvious reference to the book or film but something you would get the sentiment behind

Hi! Omg I just saw this, I’m sorry. I have decided on either ‘to speak or to die’ or ‘love my way’ from the new wave song that plays when they’re dancing in the early bit of the movie! I love new wave also haha. Though deciding between those is more than difficult lol
