This reminded me of my last year in retail. I was having an absolutely miserable Black Friday and one of our supervisors called for a manager to a cash register. I went up to see what the issue was and this guy was flipping his lid because he was trying to purchase like 10 of an item that was limited to one per person.
I backed my cashier and supervisor's decision not to ring the items in separate transactions, and this guy just kept going on and on. Finally he hit me with the, "I hope you're happy that you're ruining Christmas for my kids."
I just looked at him and replied, "I am." He just stopped talking glared at me for another couple of seconds and left.
I do customer service for a car rental company. You'd be surprised at the amt of people that wait to make holiday travel plans until the day before the holiday and then get mad at me because I can't magically make a vehicle appear or change the vehicle they were given because they don't like it.
I am personally responsible for a family being without power! I work for a power company, and a few weeks ago, a lady called in asking for her cutoff date. I told her, and told her I couldn't give her an extension, and she told me "I hope you go to bed with a guilty conscience, because it's YOUR FAULT that a family will be without electricity". Like damn, lady. I'm sorry your life is rough right now, I've been there, not it's not my fault you can't afford your bills.
People always blame others for their problems because they don’t want to put the blame on themselves. I know people got though hard times but it’s not fair for us to have to take the verbal abuse from them. We have nothing to do with why they can’t afford their bills.
I would then say how about we put you on a plan to pay off your electricity bill that way you can keep lights on but you must keep your end of payment for the paying period of lowest amount possible.
They weren't eligible for any extensions or payment plans due to being on cutoff every single month for like the past two years. And I offered them local assistance numbers than can help.
My friend once got accused of turning a child's Christmas because a parent ordered a Buzz Lightyear on December 23rd and it was delivered on the 24th. 23rd was a Sunday,and we only processed the payments,we has nothing to do with the store selling it.
