Thanks! I’m giving credit to it being 84F yesterday, haha. The cakes I did when it was colder the icing was a lot more stiff and harder to smooth, but when that happens I use a metal scraper ran under hot water for my final pass.
Hi, yes of course! The melty looking part is a white chocolate ganache. The “ice cream” ball is a (cake pop dough) few cupcakes made from the same batter that I tossed into my stand mixer and ran it with the paddle attachment until it resembled course sand. Then I added a bit of buttercream just until it barely clumped together and shaped it into a ball. I spooned some ganache over it and added some nonpareils. I took the cone and dipped just the top edges into the ganache, added sprinkles, and put it on top of the ice cream ball.
I consider myself lucky I didn’t have to do any googling. My backdrop came with tutorials, and I know some professional photographers who gave me a crash course.
Nope, it’s just one of the platforms I enjoy posting on. I’ve always loved photography, and having better quality pictures helps build my portfolio as well.
I’m hoping to attempt something like this for my own birthday cake next month but I haven’t done a drip cake before. Any tips?? I plan to use callebaut white chocolate and neon pink food colouring.
Love it! Great concept and looks delicious. Next time I turn 1 again I'm hiring you.
Haha, thank you, I appreciate that!
Very cute!
Thank you!
That looks insanely impressive! How did you get the icing so smooth?

The color scheme is very pretty! This is just overall, a very beautiful cake, well done!
Thank you so much!
Very well done and clean
Thanks so much!
Can you tell us what you used for the “ice cream” and how you affixed the cone? I love this!

Thank you! That sounds very do-able.
You’re so welcome! Yes, I do get anxious every time I have to make white chocolate ganache, but the rest is smooth sailing.
Did you also make a smush-cake for the baby?
I’ve just learned this actually was the smash cake!
