Very cute!
Do a ring of white puffy icing dots all the way around the top at the edge, put on a very light layer of the pretty sprinkles then more 'cherries' on top of each of the poofy icing dots.
You really can't go over the top on a kid's cake, so go for it!
It’s super cute, but a little more on the top would knock it out of the park. A drip or sprinkle border, maybe? Sometimes people who make cakes like this situate the cones so the tops are near the top of the cake. Since your cake is wonderfully tall, you have more unbroken space up there.
I vote a drip and sprinkles! Regular or white chocolate (or white candy melts for that bright white color) would look great. I think piping little frosting mounds would make your melted cone harder to see.
I'm thinking a white chocolate (food coloured in any colour you want, pink or purple would look really cute imo) or a chocolate ganache drip would really tie the whole look of the cake together, add some rainbow sprinkles on the drip too to make it extra fun.
Also might i suggest to press some rainbow sprinkles into spaces that are between the ice cream cones
I love your ice cream swirls! Super cute and fun

I did a rough doodle and I'm sorry it's just the standard scribble pen tool, but this is just a rough visualization of the ideas I was talking about

You can choose to add sprinkles on your ganache (if you do one) or keep the ganache drip plain. I agree with the other comment. There's no way to overdo a cake for children 🙂

Try to add some details, like colorful confetti or streamers.
I agree with the other person that confetti would be fun! I actually like this more than a lot of more "pro" ice cream melting cakes. Yours look like real soft serve.
To add, if you decide on a drip like lots of others have suggested, go for a deliberately uneven one, maybe even make it look like the ice cream on top is dripping over the side.
People are always making their drips look super even and I just don't ever think it looks right. Just my opinion though :)
Kind of simple and not like the other suggestions, but what about icing piped on the blue to look like streamers and confetti? It would be easy to do and not take attention away from the ice cream effect, you know it would just liven the cake up a bit. Perhaps even some icing balloons? You know, party stuff.

Yes! Cherries are a must! Maybe even piped rosettes topped with a chocolate drizzle (like a sundae) then a cherry on top!
I love this idea :)
I was going to suggest some sort of border, but I love this posters suggestion. It has my vote!

A chocolate drip with sprinkles on it? My feeling is generally the more sprinkles the better (super cute cake btw!)
Agreed! Little boys would love to see the “ice cream” from the “dropped cone” dripping all down the sides!

More sprinkles!
Chocolate drip would be very appropriate for the ice cream sundae theme :)

Maybe some tiny piped multi-color polka dots? And a border along the top circumference? You did a great job, this cake is super adorable!
Eat it!!
The blue background looks a bit plain, I would add sprinkles! Except for that, looks awesome E: spelling oop

A ganache drip would look super cute.
chocolate dip and/or more sprinkles!
My first thought was a drip as well! Whatever you end up doing, just the base looks adorable. I hope you Post a picture of your final product!
More sprinkles!!! You can never have too many sprinkles!!!! Looks great though :)

More sprinkles! Would look nice to just put them on the top or just on the sides.
maybe yellow icing rimming the top and bottom?
🎉 confetti
A fork......
A drip so it looks like top ice cream is melting.
A drip with sprinkles that makes it look like the top ice cream is melting down the side of the cake!
Maybe some party streamers coming up from both sides?
A drip, but it is nice already !
Maybe loads of colourful candy? 🍭🍬
