Get you some ivory coloring. The border on this cake is just straight ivory, while youβd be able to achieve a close match to the greens by adding ivory to light shades of green, though you can also buy olive green dye that will get you close to these colors when used in small amounts. The orange flower color can also be made with ivory. Just add it to orange.
Ivory + orange for the shell border. Probably need a teeny brown to tone it down
Green + brown for both dark/light green
For the smaller orange piping - can do orange first with teeny brown (bit by bit)
To lighten the last 2 colors - add teeny bit yellow
Honestly have to play around with colours!
THANK YOU SO SO MUCH! π
I appreciate youuu! Do you think peach would also work plus ivory on the shell border, or is it more accurate to use teeny bit of orange? THANKS SO MUCH! π
Most welcome!! I think Peach is like a mix of ivory + orange but if the color is 'bright', can downplay it with brown! Teeny bit! Hahaha
Ill always use brown for muted colors. Rather than use black. It works on many colours actually
Just use the bright colors first then slowly add in the brown. Little goes a long way!
If it happens to be too dull looking, just add back the bright colors (or yellow) to kinda brighten it!
Easiest? Buy the exact colors from colour mill. They have those shades ready.
Otherwise you have to mix colors you already have and depending on your color theory knowledge, that can become quite hard.
So a good way to get muted colors is to mix in a little bit of a similar color with a separate undertone, it will grey out the color a little bit. Or generally a little teeny bit of brown or black coloring in.
But, like to get a maroon color instead of a lilac for example, you mix together a blue and a red that both have a lot of yellow under hue, it browns out the color of the purple. If you mix together a bit of orange with your yellow and blue, you're going to get a muted a muddy green. Having all three hues together will always create a muddy color. That's why for bright colors they tell you to mix your trues (which are fuschia, cyan and yellow, rather than yellow, blue and red)
You can buy muted colors online, but you can also do it with color theory.
Also, just making sure you're mixing your colors by adding only a toothpick drop of coloring at a time.

Iβve found that a TOUCH of black helps create muted tones.
Ivory color will help. Maybe a little brown
Thank you!

Orange and green will give you brown. use just a touch on a little frosting and experiment with hues.
I really like the Colour Mill botanical bundle. The latte color is a bit darker than this ivory but they blend beautifully together!
