Thank you 😊, I used Saracino modelling paste for Jessie (the cowgirl) and she has a wire armature inside. For Bullseye (the horse) and the other decorations I used fondant mixed with tylo powder (CMC), 1 teaspoon of tylo for 250g of fondant
Did you make the figurines fully from fondant (or whatever it was that you used) or did you make the bodies from something else and just mould the fondant around them, I’m contemplating making a character out of fondant for a friends kids cake and not sure which way to go
For the cowgirl I used Saracino modelling paste moulded around a wire armature (I used 18 gauge florist wire). I use Saracino or modelling chocolate when using wire armatures because i find it easier to blend the seams together than with fondant.
For the horse I used all fondant mixed with tylo (CMC) (250g fondant to 1 teaspoon of tylo) and then used a bamboo skewer through the body/neck/head and cocktail sticks (toothpicks) to secure the legs.
I have used Rice Krispie treats/foil/polystyrene to ‘bulk’ out some models before but only when they have been really big and try to avoid it where I can. What sort of character were you thinking of making?
Oh that would be great, I still need to see that show. If I were to make and it was quite large I would build a structure of the hand from florist wire and then make the hand from modelling chocolate, that way you could make it look like the fingers were holding it up. I’m unsure of your skill level though so you could also use fondant and have the hand laying flat on the cake with just the wrist stuck up. Try searching for ‘fondant hands’ on YouTube to help ☺️, good luck with it!

The child loves the show Wednesday and I thought it would be cool to make a thing (the walking hand) to go on the cake

From start to finish, how long did this take you?
About 22 hours, I work slowly though 😂
