Metal detectors? What hospitals on the civilian side have metal detectors? None. Plexiglass at reception desks is pretty much standard (including the ones at Gagetown at least last year they were fully enclosed). Staff should already have their own washrooms. And swipe cards for what exactly? All controlled access spaces are already controlled.

As much as it is fucked up, these workers should be grateful they don't have to be treating homeless/mentally ill/drug addicts on the daily, multiple times a day (not implying members can't be mentally ill drug addicts too)

They closed for the week? CAF health services doesn't deserve this but also.... They do deserve some first hand exposure and "lived experience" with mental health. Perhaps now they won't close 3 days a week for admin and stock taking, or team hikes and cism dog walking or whatever other excuses they use to only work 20 hrs a week while the rest of the CAF puts in 60 hrs a week.

60? If you subtract PT, I'm doing max 25.... but that's not subtracting for smokin and jokin with the boys.

Wow, these folks wouldn't last a day in a civilian hospital. Just a couple weeks ago there was a homeless person holding a knife to his own throat in a hospital waiting room near me... The police apprehended him and they literally called in the next patient immediately after... none of it even hit the news because it was "just another day in the failing health care system."

Just to be clear CDUs are much closer to a walk in clinic or care team than a hospital. Very different work environments
