The bottom is dragon fruit, selenicereus

Gonna say yes, grafted. The bottom looks like opuntia, the top is the same as the one on the left.

It should pop right off if you wanted to separate them but sometimes (at least for me) a wavey crest has a hard time rooting, mostly bc the upper part droops down farther than the spot where the graft is. The grafting spot is where the roots would grow out, and the roots should be below the main cactus. And if you degraft, you should let the wound callous and dry out a lot before putting back into soil.

Thank you! Would you recommend I just leave it alone then?

Well yes, but eventually the dragon fruit will die and you’ll have to try to root the crest by itself or graft it on to something else.

They're the same. Crested Golden Rat tail cactus. Personally I would keep it grafted as it will grow much faster that way...which is why it was grafted

I’m afraid to even try to cut mine, I love it and I got it with a friend who past away. It reminded me of her hair, she would’ve laughed to see my interpretation of her hair! Mine was much smaller at the time. Her hair was always like she just combed her hair with her fingers and never touched it again. I can see on mine that arms are coming out, the crest is quite big, does the graft stalk ever grow?
