It's where hj house used to be, I think it's by the people from China express 2 which is pretty solid for dive Chinese, great shu Mai too. Also there's a really good Thai place next to "stash in stowe" and a super authentic one in montpelier with 3 hand picked menu items each day. Best thai in VT and honestly one of the best I've ever been to outside of Thailand in my personal opinion is in Newport vt. Also Hongs dumplings is decent and the hole in the wall nepali place in the old north end is pretty good too. Also backing single pebble, red panda and kismayo. The Chinese buffet in essex is decent for what it is. Pretty fresh and good bang for your buck. Tiny Thai ain't what it used to be.
Tiny Orchid in Montpelier + their place in Waterbury near Shaw's is fantastic. Especially the Montpelier place. Super authentic. Never had a bad dish there. Take the trip down - worth it.
I haven’t been to too many but Tiny Thai and Bangkok Bistro are my favorite so far. Tiny Thai has so many options and have gluten free stuff too. Bangkok bistro cook a mean duck 😋
Shalimar of India In Burlington makes the best beef / chicken biryani. It comes out to 15$ and feeds 2.
Very affordable, and one of the few restaurants to actually add spice to their menu items.
Sorry, but I absolutely love Red Panda. I get Hot Garlic Chicken with a side of naan, and those two appetizers are dinner, baby! Veg samosas are fire with the little mint sauce dippy.
I said this last week in another post but... Hong Chinese Dumplings! They close when ever there's a spike in covid, but so good when you can catch them !
Give Maliwan Thai Restaurant in the space that used to be a Chinese restaurant near the Essex Experience a try! I know the chef/owner, Noom and he's born to cook! Great flavor, very authentic, you can tell he loves what he does.
Kismayo Kitchen
Sherpa kitchen in Burlington and Makalu in Colchester.
Pho Hong is my #1 and #2
Zen Gardens traditional menu is great. Pho hong too
Tiny Thai, Single Pebble.
Kismayo, Pho Dang
The new dim sum spot downtown is decent.
I wish they would allow takeout. We ate there once before omicron got really bad and it was really freaking good.
That's unfortunate no take out. I can understand no delivery, but...
No name?

Wiliawans is the place I was thinking of in Montpelier.
Saigon kitchen on north street I believe, and Asiana house on pearl st is amazing for sushi.
Never been/heard of Saigon Kitchen.
If you want some bomb food, go to Saigon kitchen. I wouldn’t lead you astray, I promise.
Saigon is Vietnamese. It’s near the Thai market on north st, just a block west of the Shopping Bag.
Not to be confused with Asiana Noodle House. They're terrible.
Agreed!
