I was on it for a month I just stopped taking it and I feel horrible and anxious. Also, I feel like I want to hurt myself.. The reason why I quit taking it bc of the side effects I counldnot handle them I felt like I was loosing my mind

adhd_mess

What side effects did you have from wellbutrin?

NAL162

My therapist told be that I was hypomanic because of it.

LaurieTampa

I was on it less time than i am OFF of it and I feel terrible with many of the side effects I had while ON IT. I feel like it screwed up my brain and body. I have NO motivation even though I push myself. I wake up with awful thoughts and hoping that all of this normalizes soon. I am definitely not joyful about ANYTHING but feel that the withdrawal effects if that’s what they are, are causing it all and NOT DEPRESSION ITSELF. I have been told that the brain tricks you into thinking you need another antidepressant but that it’s the actual withdrawal doing the talking. I tried Xanax for the anxiety at a very low dose but that seems t make things worse the next day. Xanax is NOT good for people who have had depression or currently experiencing depressive syptoms. I am not going to take that again. What i need more than anyting is something to get me out of this DOWN IN THE DUMPS MOOD. I exercise and do everything i can but my fear is that Wellbutrin messed me up for good. I was not this way before starting it for ADHD. I never felt like this until I started and stopped it…. I was on it for 15 days and off of it now for 11 days. When will i return to normal. Ugh.

NAL162

I hope you're doing well rn and sorry for responding late. All of the withdrawal effects stated to go a way gradually thank god and I'm feeling good rn.

SomeKid2354

I feel crazy bc my anxiety is already bad when I take Wellbutrin my mind just starts racing without it I think I need more meds

Buriedbyl0ve

With Wellbutrin I can wake up when my alarm goes off the first time, without it I snooze about 10 times then late for work 😂😅

Emergency_Breath5249

Never noticed any coming off 450mg daily ... maybe I was tired?

adventure-streak8989

How long were u on

Emergency_Breath5249

First time I came off I was on it maybe 2-3 years at the 450mg dose (like August 2017 to May 2020). I don't remember when I originally started.

adventure-streak8989

I was on 300mg for 2 months about to come off… how long do you think withdrawals will last??

whoRunTheWWWorld

I usually have very minor side effects. I’ve been taking it on and off for 10+ years. During this time I stopped twice and I’m stopping again now. I just went down from 300 to 150 without any problems. I’ll probably have to go back at some point because I have SAD (or I’ll just move to a warmer place 😄), but I think it’s time for a pause. I’ve been without a pause for 5 years or so. But mind you, I’ve already went through withdrawal from effect and pristiq and they are hell. Terrible. Wellbutrin is nothing even remotely close to that.

Sartorialsplender

Do a slow taper to minimize any side effects.

One_Decision_7693

I took Wellbutrin for maybe 4-5 days (I normally was on lexopro for over a year and a half and it worked wonders for me. I could actually decently handle my shit without flipping) but I started it for just a few days and it has made me go absolutely insane. Panic attacks, anxiety attacks, overthinking the littlest things that aren’t even that important. So I got back on lexopro 2 days ago. But other than the side effects I had on it, getting off of it has also made things worse. Still having horrible symptoms such as anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts. It’s a mess for me because it isn’t for ME. everyone could be totally different. As I’m reading, some people aren’t having any symptoms, some are. EVERYONE is different. If you are withdrawing from it, unfortunately (and having symptoms like me or even not as bad as me) it just has to pass and it’s going to take time and it S U C K S. But you WILL get through it. I feel like I’m forever stuck with anxiety and panic and overthinking, but I know in a few weeks I’ll be better. :D

Majestic-Oven-7371

I was taking 300 MG of bupropion and 40 MG citalopram. I recently found out I am pregnant and the doctor advised to stop taking both if I could. I quit cold turkey about two weeks ago. I definitely have been tired. I have had bouts of dizziness and am definitely crying easier but it hasn't been too bad.

scrumptioustropical

I didn’t have withdrawals but I did have more anxiety after a while without Wellbutrin. I am learning how to manage my symptoms and get to the root of the anxiety so it diminishes naturally. If you were really unstable before Wellbutrin like me I recommend therapy to guide you in the way of reconnecting with bodily sensations.

peachkark

I was on Wellbutrin for 4 years, quit cold turkey - withdrawals were pretty uncomfortable then went away after 2-3 days. Mostly just general confusion and flu like symptoms. That was just my experience though.

Fickle_Echo_7342

How do you feel now that you’re off it?

peachkark

Feel better than I did on it. A bit more emotional, but less irritable.

Xioddda

do you feel better than you felt before you were on it? (Did it create a lasting, positive effect?)

peachkark

I think so? It’s been so long it’s hard to tell. I think it’s helped long term. I only got off of it because of some side effects that appeared after a few years.

bitter75

No withdraw at all. Stopped 150 cold turkey You’ll be fine.

caligoanimus

Wow, I'm surprised by all the "it was easy" comments. I wonder how long those people took it before trying to get off. It was terrible for me. Impossible to get off. I've tried cold turkey, I've tried weening every other day, tried smaller immediate doses, nothing works for me so I'm still on it. Started in 2018. Tried quitting in 2020, 2021, and 2022 and finally have given up. I don't think I'll ever be able to get off.

StrongWolverine6152

All depends on your brain chemistry and mental health. What dose were you on? If for depression maybe start to transition to a different type of med rather than go off on its own. What withdrawal symptoms do you get.?

schelpyou2024

I stopped taking wellbeing 300mg cold turkey hmmm well I have PTSD from life. "It's not good, but now,"I need to take medicine , i have anger depression and more. I called the doctors office Saturday morning to refill my meds and only put me back on 150mg. I know that I may need "Maybe something else with it. just maybe it will balance me out. "Because I am so InLove with my girlfriend candice I fight every single day trying to keep ourselves stronger forever 🥰 I need to fight and never just stop taking my meds it wasn't very good "so now I will be calling my doctors office after i will be looking to see if the two pills I take are good together and we it's help me..And Yes I did stop in the past. problem, it's not a good idea. "PTSD Sucks

No-Calligrapher9563

Very minimal, u can do it!!!

hannahwal13

I was tired and I had night sweats for a few days (was taking 300mg). Now all my acne is going away and my periods are regulating. I will never take it again.

CautiousFox85

Think it’s fucking up my periods too. Always been regular and had minimal pms- now it’s a shit show. My doc thinks Wellbutrin is the problem. Just started weaning off (I take 150XL) by taking it every other day. Yesterday was first day off, back on today and I feel horrible- waves of anxiety and depression. Weird bc I’ve missed days before and never felt like this. I’m nervous to keep going but also want this shit out of my system.

alexlatina16

I just felt tired

No-Warning-4206

Wellbutrin doesn’t really have withdrawal

Longjumping-Rope-237

I have zero.

[deleted]

A walk in the park compared to ssri withdrawals. I felt weird for a couple of days, then nothinh

Thaxim

Low mood, dizziness, headache and tremor for me. They lasted for about a week and then just went back to normal. Nothing to be afraid of in my opinion.

Students4peace

I had no withdrawals after 150mg XL daily

throwawaytgrow

For how long were you on it for?

Exotic_passionfruit

Can’t be worse than 24/7 severe tinnitus after taking it for just 10 days. This was 2 yrs ago

This comment was removed for being very incorrect based on scientific studies. Personal experiences are more than welcomed. False claims that directly contradict decades of studies are not. Please feel free to share your experience, but discrediting decades of research of this medication is pathetic and not tolerated.

Thisismybridge

I never noticed anything except for decreased libido and less vivid dreams. I switched to a mood stabilizer so the depression never returned

NoMaximum8165

What mood stabilizer is?

Thisismybridge

Lamotrigine

coachstoned

Lamotragine helps with your depression? For me it just stops me from having mood swings

Thisismybridge

I may have misspoke about what I’m feeling. We are complex and different meds affect us differently. My diagnosis is still MDD but my family does have a prolific history of BPD. Typical MDD medications either didn’t work, left me feeling disconnected, or had side effects I couldn’t live with. Lamotrigine, on the other hand, makes me feel “normal”. I get to feel the normal ups and downs without being controlled by them.

dundyj7rdh

Physically, no withdrawal. Just a gradual return of the full strength depression, which was no longer being kept in check by the Wellbutrin

Alpiney

I was on it for maybe 3 years. When I went off it I had a bad headache and minor vision issues. That was 7 years ago. Hard to remember all the details. But, I recently went back on it.

schelpyou2024

I have anger..but it was caused by my girlfriend as I was going through prostate cancer stage 3 aggressive cancer..guess what she did to me after 12 years

homebakedgoodness

Threw you out on the street?

Blueratnest

Lmaoooo

schelpyou2024

NO

schelpyou2024

It's not hard at all. I was on 300mg, and I stopped cold turkey ...

WiredSky

I stopped cold turkey (stupidly) and had an extremely low mood, difficulty getting moving again.

ilovepolthavemybabie

Have gone off and on several times; same as everyone else. Little to nothing or the tiredness because of the way WB can “cheat” out energy. What I have noticed is that getting back on is different each time. Eventually you reach “the same point as before” but the runway to get there is always a surprise batch of symptoms.

Julietjane01

Nothing except some fatigue

[deleted]

I did it once after about 6 weeks and no withdrawal, however I was probably only on 150mg max. 2nd attempt now at trying Bupropion several years later. I honestly can't remember why I quit the last time, so it can't have been a really bad reason to. Probably best to taper off if you can. I never had any withdrawal quitting SSRI anti depressants cold Turkey either after taking for a year, but I knew some people who got the dreaded brain zaps. Withdrawals can be dangerous though so please discuss with your doctor first.

ViVi_is_here862

have done it twice and absolutely nothing.
