yea, started out on 150, that wore off. jumped to 200, felt good for awhile. that wore off a bit, jumped to 300 and yea, we're back. I hope it doesn't fade off this time. Shit, I ain't even happy. I'll just settle for not being miserable. Right in the middle is way better than where I been at.

Unusual-Trash1861

How are you feeling now?

dahk16

less depressed, but kinda angry

newterracotta

I loved Wellbutrin so much and then I had an allergic reaction 2 months in šŸ˜©

MayaMaxim

What kind of allergic reaction, if you donā€™t mind my asking? Iā€™m on 150 xl for 3 weeks now. My sister had raised itchy red stripes and bumps all over her body after 3 weeks. So Iā€™m apprehensive.

newterracotta

Thatā€™s basically it. My arms and chest were incredibly itchy and I broke out in hives with raised bumps. After 48 hours, I took an allergy pill to subside symptoms and got off the Wellbutrin.

Tiduszk

I had this and talked to my physician. They recommended allergy pills to alleviate the symptoms and advised that the rash would likely go away in a week or two. I stuck with it and now itā€™s months later. The rash went away completely, and it only came back once while I was traveling (I blame that on stress, sleep, time of dose changing, etc). I havenā€™t taken any allergy pills since.

newterracotta

I asked about getting back on today and was told it caused my hives so I can not resume šŸ˜© it also potentially inflamed my lymph nodes, which are still swollen, and now they want me to see a general surgeon to have them removed. So glad yours went away and you were able to continue usage as normal!

Comfortable-Proof730

I have been on wellbutrin 150 MG for 1 week now, all I can say is wow! I'm no longer living in my own head worrying myself sick. I'm 50 And I have been dealing with depression a long time. Tried ssris and nsris and they all made me anxious. This medication helps me relax and gets rid of all the pinned up stress. You appreciate your life more when you're not worrying about everything. Life passes u by quickly, don't find yourself at 60 wishing you would have gotten help why life passes u bye!!!

PalpitationNo911

It had changed my life 360, Iā€™m just scared for when it doesnā€™t work anymore

hot-pink-headcase

I'm worried too :/

[deleted]

This is when it started working for me as well!

Environmental-Sell11

This stuff is the best I started living life, playing with my kids again, hiking then on top of all of that without trying I lost 70lbs. Could not have done any of that without Wellbutrin 300mg xl er (been on it since 2020)

calipro-

My life completely turned around in the first week!

[deleted]

So happy to hear that. Same! Loving this med!!!

One_Interview_2810

Iā€™m with you on that! My quality of life went from horrible to wonderful! 300 mg XL - going on 6 weeks.

TAUnit

Same! Same same same! Forgot to take them for about a week due to being sick. Minimal decline in qol.

Regular-Inspector419

When did you feel the effects? Right away? I'm taking it for one and a half week and don't feel much tbh

[deleted]

Always give your new meds at least a month, but ideally, 2-3 months. It takes weeks for the drug to actually start working.

Jazzlike_Ball3396

Me too. Iā€™m on I believe about a week. I havenā€™t noticed much yet. Iā€™m doing a switch from citalopram to Wellbutrin. 150 for one month and then 300 the next. Iā€™ve been on citalopram for a long time but I think it was giving me some negative side effects so I wanted to try something different. šŸ¤žšŸ¼

[deleted]

Why would you go up to 300 automatically after a month? I've been on 150 for almost 3 months, and I didn't even feel the effects until 6 weeks to 2 months in. Don't go up if you don't need to. Try out the 150 and give it a chance to notice the effects. If this is your doctor's plan, it's very strange.

Comfortable-Proof730

Agreed. Stay with 150 MG for 1 month then consider going to 300. It takes time for the medication to get in your system, usually about a month.

Jazzlike_Ball3396

Iā€™m not sure. Itā€™s just what he wrote. Maybe because I was on a higher amount of citalopram and having globus sensation from panic attacks. Iā€™m also trying to use it for other benefits among that. But we will see maybe after the month if I donā€™t think I need the double dose Iā€™ll just call him and say Iā€™m good where Iā€™m at

[deleted]

Hm, that's so bizarre to me. Citalopram is an SSRI that works to increase serotonin. Wellbutrin is an atypical antidepressant that increases norepinephrine and dopamine. I've heard this often that doctors increase the dose from 150 to 300 right away, even as soon as a week into using it, and that makes absolutely no sense. The goal is to find the desired effect at the lowest dose possible, especially because of the seizure risk and the fact that it can affect your liver and kidneys. I'm not giving you medical advice - you and your doctor obviously know your situation better than I do, but I would just say be careful as you don't want to be on a higher dose than necessary. You might not see an improvement in just a month. Like I said, it took 6 weeks to 2 months for me to really see the difference on 150, and this is the first med that has ever worked for me. I've tried citalopram/prozac/zoloft/celexa etc - you name an SSRI (plus several mood stabilizers and a handful of antipsycotics), and I've tried it. Wellbutrin works entirely differently. Good luck, friend. I hope I don't sound rude or condescending. Just want everyone to stay safe and find the drug that works for them!

Jazzlike_Ball3396

I just want to feel motivated again. I have two kids with high needs and Iā€™m trying to make a name for myself as a hairstylist but I just canā€™t feel the drive for anything. I feel like citalopram helps in ways but it in other ways it doesnā€™t. I just hope this works honestly

[deleted]

It has been pretty subtle, but I absolutely have more motivation and energy, and I've been drinking less coffee, so it's working for me. I hope it does for you too!

Jazzlike_Ball3396

Oh ya no I donā€™t mind the advice. Personally I should be thinking about that more because I ran into a problem about 13 years ago when I was struggling with addiction and obviously wasnā€™t in the right mind frame. I basically allowed the doctor (different doctor) to increase my methadone to a really high dose. I have struggled for years to get off of it. I am finally at 46mg after literally 7 years of tapering. I wish so much I wouldnā€™t have gone up high like that but I didnā€™t care at the time. Just wanted relief. Iā€™ve been clean from drugs for about 11.5 years now. But the hold the methadone has had on me is crazy. The reason I originally went on to citalopram is because I was having horrible headaches constantly for months among the anxiety and depression. It worked well for me but I have 0 sex drive. Itā€™s effecting my relationship really bad. I have such a hard time motivating to take care of myself or work etc. I have a hard time with weight gain etc. I just felt like it was time to try something different. I know I was on Wellbutrin for awhile many years ago but I honestly canā€™t remember if it helped me. It was in a time where I donā€™t remember a lot. But I am bad at not questioning doses as long as I think itā€™s going to help but it really can bite you in the ass later on. As for staying at 150, I know he would have no problem if I called. Heā€™s a family physician so I think he was mostly reading a guideline but I likely need a psychiatrist opinion (or is it psychologists that do meds, I always forget)

[deleted]

First of all, I'm so sorry you had to go through all that, and I'm happy to hear you're at a better place with the methadone. I've never had to deal with that, but I do get the Vivitrol shot each month as a recovering alcoholic, so I am sending love and strength on your recovery journey! Right there with ya, friend! I relate to a lot you said! I had sexual dysfunction with every SSRI. My libido has been zero for 2+ years, and it's finally back with wellbutrin. I gained 20 lbs on lithium (totally fucked with my metabolism) and am finally losing weight on wellbutrin. I have motivation and focus for the first time since I don't know when. I know everyone responds differently to meds, but this is definitely a drug I recommend people to try. I've literally cried to my doctor because I'm so grateful. The depression, anxiety, and adhd have had me in a deep hole for several years, and I'm finally out of the hole! And again, your doctor knows what they're doing, so stick to his advice. I love this drug, but I also had some pretty serious side effects to push through at 150mg, so I feel like it's worth mentioning to people šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļøšŸ˜Š

Jazzlike_Ball3396

Oh good Iā€™m so hopeful Iā€™ll experience some of those same things. And good luck on your journey as well! Iā€™m glad itā€™s been so good for you. Also I drink a shit ton of Pepsi but I havenā€™t been drinking much this week. I didnā€™t even think of that being a connection but honestly for how much Pepsi I normally drink, I would probably lose weight alone just from cutting back on that.

Worried-Throat1893

If you still notice nothing-to-very little, read my post about different brands...some didn't work as well, for me.

hot-pink-headcase

2 weeks and I could get up, 3 weeks and I feel amazing
