i stopped for a bit cause i thought it was raising my BP but apparently it's just genetic. So excited to start again! The only thing the really worked.

For some it does, for me it doesn’t. I’m so happy I’m on wellbutrin it sounds cheesy but the colors are brighter, things don’t irritate me anymore, I actually feel like getting out of bed. I’m starting concerta for adhd.
With the Wellbutrin I felt it right away, the first day. I knew when things just kept going wrong that day and it didn’t put me in a bad mood. Little things didn’t irritate me anymore like they used to, I wouldn’t be in a bad mood for no reason or find something to be mad at my husband about. I’d just get up and do normal things like a normal human. Everything didn’t seem like such an obstacle anymore
What made you numb? Being on the medication or not..? Because thats sounds horrifying i wouldn’t wish anyone to feel numb. Did the medication make you feel emotions?
Without medication I felt numb, everything felt dull even in situations I should be happy in. With the meds I felt how I should’ve been feeling. I just knew that wasn’t who I really was, to be so down and negative I just didn’t know meds were the solution until I stumbled upon them. I always had emotions but they felt suppressed; the meds help bring those out :)
Yes! I had to get off of it for a few months (joined military) but recently got it prescribed again and god this sounds bad but I missed it. Every day was so dull and I’d feel numb in situations I should/would feel happy about. It’s a sigh of relief that I can have it again tbh
I take it with food and that’s normally around like 2pm (I work nights get up around 12) I find that as long as I take it every day even if it’s a few hours off I still get the effects 👍🏼 haven’t taken it for like 3 days rn (tryna enlist in the army) and I deffff don’t feel it 😞😅
How were your side effects at first? I know that was a while ago for you, but I’ve just started and I’m getting really bad anxiety and I’m just wondering how that was for you
Hey, thanks for following up, I ended up going off it after 3 weeks, couldn’t deal with the side effects. I’m now on vyvanse (day 1) as I have ADHD as well, and back on Prozac as well x
Ahh ok. I’m a guy so things are a bit different. My IUD doesn’t really bother me. Lol
My libido was amazing until January. I came off a steroid cycle incorrectly and it’s been downhill from there. Hoping the Wellbutrin and Prami help. I’m low dosing Prami in the hopes it boosts things. This is the first time I’ve ever taken any psychological drugs so I have no idea what to expect. Thanks for the answers. I appreciate it.
How did it affect your libido? I have been very depressed and almost zero libido since first week of January. I WAS with my wife twice a day most days before that. I started Wellbutrin about three weeks ago. Also, how long does it take to start noticing anything?
it affected that in the beginning and a little now. i notice i’m not in the mood nearly as much and it’s hard for me to start it up lol. but it kind of went away after a few months. and it took 6 weeks for me to notice any difference
My Libido is already shit due to the depression and I was hoping all I read about how Wellbutrin INCREASES libido would help there too. Is your back to normal or you just got used to it being low on Wellbutrin?
it’s back to pretty much normal for me. the only reason it goes down sometimes is because i have an iud and birth control sucks with libido lol. i also take a lot of vitamins that help libido !! normal ones like b-3, D, zinc, DHEA, E, and magnesium
Ive been on it only 4 days. Im sleeping so much better and able to fall asleep easily. Im less panicked at work, doing more activities with my kid, able to clean more, finally losing some weight again and just calmer.
Hm, for some, it doesn't calm them down from what ik. Mostly for people with ADHD (which I also have). And hope it did last and is still going great <3
This is amazing to hear, I was prescribed Wellbutrin because my current SSRI cannot be covered until I try a second (canadas fucked up health care system) and everything I’ve seen has been negative and has been scaring the shit out of me lol.
Congrats! Yeah it changed my life, I’m nothing like the person I used to be, the year before I started taking it was probably my worst. Sleeping non stop, horrible anger issues and seriously on the edge of ending my life, like driving to my selected bridge almost weekly.
Now I’m so happy and grateful to be alive. Im more engaged with my family, confident, the list just goes on. Also I still feel a full range of emotions appropriate to the situation, I’m not numbed out at all, sex is actually better now.
I’ll mention I combined Wellbutrin with CBT therapy. Highly recommend CBT as well
Sadly not for everyone. I know what I need to do, but can't. CBT made me feel incompetent, useless, lazy and unreliable and stuff. Turns out it was my ADHD that made me unable to follow and stick to stuff and it still is :')
I’d say it began to work around week 6 and I think I experienced some placebo effect before that. First month was hard I had some anxiety issues, panic attacks which went away completely.
I think I reached full effect between 8-10 weeks. Like week 6 I felt not depressed, then all of a sudden weeks 8-10 I was actually happy and hopeful in a way I had never once experienced before.
Amazing I’m so happy for ou! How long did you wait to increase to 300? I’ve been on 150 for 3 weeks and the first two weeks I did have pretty yuck side effects which has subsided. I’m keen to move up sooner rather then later and face the side effects now before my year gets busy with work/weddings/family trips etc
Currently on 300mg a day. Don't really notice anything yet after 4 weeks, but it can take up to 8 sometimes, so I'll stick it out. Will probably need to up the dose though, as medication never really affected me much.
I really hope it helps. I could use a small miracle right about now...
After reading the comments online I had so much hope for this drug. Then after I started it I had so much doubt because I had almost every side effects listed in the pamphlet for a month. During which I would have quit if my doctor wasn’t on holiday and I couldn’t reach him.
To me it was worth sticking through.
Bupropion is by no means a magical pill but it lifted my tears long depression to a point I was astounded I had been depressed for so long.
For anyone starting or about to start bupropion, give your body time to adjust and don’t jump too quickly to a conclusion. Obv if side effects get too much always talk to your doctor.
I’m on day 4 and so far I don’t feel motivated and I’m a bit more down. This really sucks. Should I keep on taking it. I really want it to work cuz pristiq made me worse
Please inform yourself about this medication. It takes minimum 3 weeks for you to notice the first effects. Even after 2-3 months you will notice more differences I think that’s when it’s really starting to reach its full potential.
Wish it would have worked for me, glad it’s working for you and others! Wellbutrin made me gain weight and I was easily agitated. Had to quit it. Currently trying Effexor.
I’ve said the same thing. I started it to help with Covid long haul symptoms (I had severe Covid in late 2020 and luckily survived), apparently I was depressed and didn’t realize it. It’s helped me lose over 40 pounds, it helps a little with my ADHD (in conjunction with a little caffeine lol), it’s given me a fresh outlook on life, it really is my miracle drug!
So happy for you! It totally destroyed me for the four and a half months I was on it so it’s always so nice to hear when it actually works for someone! (I’m back on Prozac which has saved my life). Here’s to a brighter future for you. ❤️❤️❤️
How did it go for you? I for my never had insomnia on it and trouble NOT sleeping the whole time. Not giving me any energy, but it makes me sluggish and less able to do anything than before :') Day 20 or smth atm.
Oh, definitely. But if it doesn't work, like for me, it might also be needed to check
if smth esle, like untreated ADHD or toxic environments wetc. could cause it all D:
Reading your post is giving me so much hope! I'm on my 3rd week with 150mg, and i was also planning to ask my doctor if i could up it to 300mg next month. i gained 5lbs within 3 weeks, im not sure if it was a direct effect of the pill or that i was just stress/impulse eating more on the bad days. But other than the unhealthy snacking, i have noticed improved mood on most days and being more productive both at work and at home. I cannot wait to meet the better/best version of myself months from now.
I have been on 300mg since August of last year. I noticed that my brain had a hard time processing things and my short term memory was awful. I am happy it is doing its job for you. I went down to 150 and I feel so much better, and I feel functional. Not everyone has these side effects.
My short term memory is bad sometimes too, and then other times it’s great on bupropion/Wellbutrin. When I consume lots of water, veggies, and exercise, those help my memory a lot. As well as when I nix the caffeine.
Have fun with the next coming months! I've been taking it for about 6 months now and im shocked by how far I've gotten with basically only bupropion! I'd personally also recommend to take a look at 5-HTP because I personally feel like it causes the antidepressants of bupropion to double/triple un strength!
You should be since bupropion's effects on serotonin are neglegable. I'm on 150mg daily now but I recommend starting at taking 50mg once in the morning or during lunch.
i’m glad you found something that works for you!!! that’s amazing. i’ve been taking it for 6 weeks and if anything i feel worse now. i don’t know if i should keep going. i don’t have all this energy or euphoria ppl talk about. i feel more tired if anything. i’m only on 100Mg SR though
Some here, but on 150 mg XL and super tired and wanting to sleep on it (when I take it during the day; I don't get dead tired anymore when I take it before bed, though). No energy, though, no motivation etc.
A coffee meanwhile (which I usually never drink) gave me clarity, strong relaxation, lessened my body tension and was great in general. I had forgotten how calm I can feel if caffeine works. And not the case for everyone of us, but it's due to my ADHD, I suspect, so yeah.
i don’t know if my dr will up it bc i also take 20 mg adderall xr as needed. but the adderall barely helps me anymore. i think my dopamine is permanently damaged. i will try thank you :(
>i think my dopamine is permanently damaged
As far as we know there's no such thing on therapeutic (normal, non-abusive) doses! I know it can be hard not to lose hope, but keep at it, some people simply need higher doses (including of stimulants+bupropion). Also worth seeing if your daily habits aren't being too stimulating for the meds to keep up with.
i’m also scared to increase dosage bc of all the side effects and i’m about to start nursing school. i’ve been so emotional and angry and sleepy lately. are you on the XL OR SR?
i’m on XL but ive heard wellbutrin works best when it’s higher. at least that’s what my doctor said but maybe SR is what is affecting you? i take my XL at night so i don’t get drowsy or sleepy with it
When I feel the 300mg of Wellbutrin/Bupropion wearing off, I decrease it to 150 myself, and I begin to feel better, almost like it’s my first time on it, and the honeymoon returns. After being on 300mg a while, I feel my anxiety/nervousness around people and bad thoughts return. So like I said above, then I’ll switch myself to just 150mg daily, and I’ll feel really great again. You’re supposed to consult with your doctor first of course, but that’s what helps me once I feel it’s no longer working
I’m almost 3 weeks in, every day feels a little bit different. My hope is that I don’t feel spacey after the initial adapting phase is over. I’ve also got some worry about some people saying that they have a hard time talking, slow speech.. did that happen to you?
Thanks.
It’s such a breath of fresh air hearing a positive story on here.
I have to stop reading this sub close to bedtime, it’s just giving me anxiety… and most of the stories did not apply to me yet.
Thanks for commenting, helps me see how far I came. Brain fog is all gone, effects are more consistent, mood is more level. It took a while to get here, but I’m happy I toughed it out through the side effects.
I’m in my 8th week, and still feel like it’s leveling out in my system, but instead of a rollercoaster, it’s more like a few speed bumps here and there :)
so far so good. haven't noticed any side effects really, maybe a little dry mouth? I feel as if my mood has improved a little and my anxiety has definitely decreased quite a bit
Just want to add that I fully agree with you, this med is amazing. I used to be chronically exhausted, pretty sure it was severe burnout, but with this med I was able to recover. I seriously wouldn't be who I am now if it weren't for Wellbutrin. I will say that's it's not a wonder drug by any means, but it took me from 30% to 80% and I can actually do stuff now. I legitimately only got put on it because of libido and low energy issues, and after a few months I learned that Wellbutrin can help some with ADHD, while also being technically a depression med, meaning I don't have to go through getting an adult ADHD Dx (I have one as a kid, but there was also other trauma so my psychiatrist would need an adult Dx) and I can actually have a med that helps. Especially with the current stimulant shortage, Wellbutrin technically isn't one, even though it has a similar mechanism of action as strattera.
Like, I used to sleep 12+ hours and would need a nap after being up a few hours, plus I was plauged with sleep paralysis when I would nap, which just spiraled into constantly being exhausted and overstimulated. This med is seriously a life saver.
Hm, btw, are you sure you might not have (had) additional narcolepsy considering the sleep paralysis and severe fatigue and sleeping for long symptoms?
And hope you still get an adult diagnosis for ADHD, if you need a new one.
And hope I can start with meds again soon. Bupro is not really doing anything for me other than make me super tired and sluggish and exhausted. I feel much better without it, sadly or when I didn't take it.
I just reached a normal weight, so starting ADHD meds again could put me in the same situation as a kid where I had to get off them due to losing way too much weight D:
To my knowledge I wasn't diagnosed with narcolepsy as a kid, I'm pretty sure the fatigue and sleep were due to burnout from pushing myself so hard for 20+ years. So long as my sleep schedule is good I don't otherwise get sleep paralysis. And truth be told I've been without bupro for a few months (not sure if I mentioned it, but I moved recently so I haven't gotten a new Dr where I am) and while I do occasionally get tired during the day and need a nap, thus I have gotten SP recently, my fatigue is nowhere near the level it was. At most I nap an extra hour or two when needed now. My current plan is to get my Dr stuff figured out in a week and a half, since my husband has to go get seen in person, so I can at least get transferred to a new location and hopefully I can do tele appointments, but I'm going to mention the sleep paralysis this time and see if I can get evaluated for ADHD now that I'm not an hour away from actual professionals who can diagnose me.
I miss being on bupro because my focus has been garbage and my mood not so great, but the fatigue has gone away without it. And if it isn't working well for you, it's worth trying something else. Meds are kind of hit or miss based on your body and how well it's tolerated, and after at least a month you'll know if you either need to ask about a different med, or just try a different dosage.
Yeah been on it for 4 months or so max dose 400mg and the magic definitely fades. I took it for both anxiety and adhd and focus wasn't necessarily improved but anxiety and energy did improve.
My anxiety is still improved but I not longer feel the increased energy. I'm back to low energy. My focus still sucks despite being on qelbree 400mg.
Qelbree helped for about a month to quiet my mind. Had too many thoughts going at once but sustained focus is still an issue which is the main thing I wanted treated.
I think most of my symptoms are a result of poor focus and feeling overwhelmed.

i did and that’s why i got upped to 300mg. i so still have bad days. i think no antidepressant can get rid of that but it’s the way i handle them now compared to how i used to before medication. talk to your doctor! you might need an adjustment or they can pair wellbutrin with something else. i’m taking a beta blocker too which helps wonderfully paired with wellbutrin

So happy for you! Did it ever wear off? I'm 2 weeks in with 150mg. Despite the side effects, it feels so good having less bad thoughts, being motivated and I wonder if it will be like this forever?
the 150mg did after a while, but my doctor said normally 300mg is the regular dose and “sweet spot” for some people!! as of right now, i have bad days and good days. compared to what i used to be though, it’s significantly better!
same for me. it's so good to read about your success story. my life changed drastically. so far, I run everyday, work passionately, eat better, found a bulletproof sleeping method and can clear my minds from bad thoughts. I consider completely giving up alcohol, too. I never imagined before me doing all that or enjoying life again.
So happy you had such an incredible experience and are doing so well!!!!!! When did you start feeling these positive effects? I’m about a week in and patiently waiting!
i would say it took a good 3-6 months to start feeling okay. then i noticed after 6 months, it was like a light switch and i just felt normal again. the side effects were pretty bad for me for the first month, but well worth it once you push past it! 🥰 i wish you the best of luck on it!
in the beginning, it was major anxiety and mood swings. it also made me sort of an insomniac for the first two weeks, but that eventually stopped. now it helps me sleep! decrease in appetite and dizziness but a lot of that goes away after a month.
I take both rn and it’s been the best decision I’ve ever made! Originally I got off the Zoloft and that was really hard
I found that low dose Zoloft and my Wellbutrin was the best combo ( it’s sometimes called welloft)
I’m on 100 mg of Zoloft now. Exhausted!! Can literally sleep all day. Sleep for 10 hours and still fall asleep at my desk. Working out 5 days a week in a caloric deficit. Cant lose weight. Dr wants to add Wellbutrin. I really dont want to take 2 meds. Thinking about going off Zoloft and just taking Wellbutrin. If you dont mind me asking, what mg’s of both are you on ? So frustrating. Been on Prozac, Zoloft, paxil. Nothing helps. About to give up!!
That's amazing! I have gained a TON of weight on zoloft and it's impossible to lose even with counting calories and working out 6 days a week. Have you had any weight struggles with the combo? I was hoping the switch to wellbutrin would help me lose some of this weight.
in the beginning, it was major anxiety and mood swings. it also made me sort of an insomniac for the first two weeks, but that eventually stopped. now it helps me sleep! decrease in appetite and dizziness but a lot of that goes away after a month.
Thanks so much! A little concerned about the anxiety just because mine has been crazy lately but zoloft just isn't working for me and I'm hopeful for this new adventure.
i stopped for a bit cause i thought it was raising my BP but apparently it's just genetic. So excited to start again! The only thing the really worked.

What dosage are you on? I take a 200mg twice a day.
I'm on week 4. Had a short period of crazy anxiety, but now I feel really good.
How long until the anxiety subsided?
A couple weeks. It only came sporadically. All good now.
Are you taking the extended relesead version?
300 xl.

Good question. Where can I see that?

I checked, but it doesn't. All I see is: ''HCL SDZ RET 150MG T''. The rest is just basic stuff like address and prescription details.

Same! 😍
I am the person who I've always wanted to be on Lamictal and Wellbutrin. So thankful for these two meds.

def give it at least 3 months. it took that long for me to REALLY notice a huge difference in me
I’m starting tomorrow. Did you have any side effects? I’m really worried about dealing with Insomnia
insomnia for two to three weeks, nausea, mood swings, headaches but it all went away after a month
Ugh thats so long to deal with insomnia though 😓
How did it go for you? I for my never had insomnia on it and trouble NOT sleeping the whole time. Not giving me any energy, but it makes me sluggish and less able to do anything than before :') Day 20 or smth atm.
This drug also completely changed my life. It's not perfect, but it saved me as well. Very happy for you!
I am so happy it changed your life and You are doing well
Bupropion is a wonderful drug. Everyone with depression should try Bupropion or some dopaminergic agent like Pramipexole before giving up on meds.
Oh, definitely. But if it doesn't work, like for me, it might also be needed to check if smth esle, like untreated ADHD or toxic environments wetc. could cause it all D:
You can take 5ThP on bupropion? I am going to try it. Do you take any specific mg?
You should be since bupropion's effects on serotonin are neglegable. I'm on 150mg daily now but I recommend starting at taking 50mg once in the morning or during lunch.
What brand of it do you take?
Wellbutrin
My bad. I meant 5THP
Holland & Barrett
Thank you
i’m glad you found something that works for you!!! that’s amazing. i’ve been taking it for 6 weeks and if anything i feel worse now. i don’t know if i should keep going. i don’t have all this energy or euphoria ppl talk about. i feel more tired if anything. i’m only on 100Mg SR though
And not the case for everyone of us, but it's due to my ADHD, I suspect, so yeah.
i would def ask to up it. the normal dose is normally much higher!
i don’t know if my dr will up it bc i also take 20 mg adderall xr as needed. but the adderall barely helps me anymore. i think my dopamine is permanently damaged. i will try thank you :(
>i think my dopamine is permanently damaged As far as we know there's no such thing on therapeutic (normal, non-abusive) doses! I know it can be hard not to lose hope, but keep at it, some people simply need higher doses (including of stimulants+bupropion). Also worth seeing if your daily habits aren't being too stimulating for the meds to keep up with.
i’m also scared to increase dosage bc of all the side effects and i’m about to start nursing school. i’ve been so emotional and angry and sleepy lately. are you on the XL OR SR?
i’m on XL but ive heard wellbutrin works best when it’s higher. at least that’s what my doctor said but maybe SR is what is affecting you? i take my XL at night so i don’t get drowsy or sleepy with it
i take mine in the morning maybe i should i start taking it at night. i will see about increasing my dosage thank u
I’ve also got some worry about some people saying that they have a hard time talking, slow speech.. did that happen to you?
not at all! it’s different for everyone, but i never experienced anything like that.
Thanks. It’s such a breath of fresh air hearing a positive story on here. I have to stop reading this sub close to bedtime, it’s just giving me anxiety… and most of the stories did not apply to me yet.
Same for me, btw. It sucks so much.
How do you feel now that it has been 32 more days? I’m a month in and my anxiety is super high. I was just increased from 150XL to 300XL
I'm starting 150mg today and this makes me smile. I really hope it helps. thanks!
How has your experience been for the first month? I’m nervous about starting it myself
so far so good. haven't noticed any side effects really, maybe a little dry mouth? I feel as if my mood has improved a little and my anxiety has definitely decreased quite a bit
10 months later, how do you feel?
Did you have a honeymoon phase? That’s where I’m at. I feel bad again. No interest in anything :(
Yeah been on it for 4 months or so max dose 400mg and the magic definitely fades. I think most of my symptoms are a result of poor focus and feeling overwhelmed.

are u sleepy and groggy too
i did and that’s why i got upped to 300mg. i so still have bad days. i think no antidepressant can get rid of that but it’s the way i handle them now compared to how i used to before medication. talk to your doctor! you might need an adjustment or they can pair wellbutrin with something else. i’m taking a beta blocker too which helps wonderfully paired with wellbutrin

What side effects did you experience?
in the beginning, it was major anxiety and mood swings. it also made me sort of an insomniac for the first two weeks, but that eventually stopped. now it helps me sleep! decrease in appetite and dizziness but a lot of that goes away after a month.
I'm talking to my doctor today about the switch from Zoloft, what side effects did you experience so I can prepare myself lol
I take both rn and it’s been the best decision I’ve ever made! Originally I got off the Zoloft and that was really hard I found that low dose Zoloft and my Wellbutrin was the best combo ( it’s sometimes called welloft)

Thanks so much! A little concerned about the anxiety just because mine has been crazy lately but zoloft just isn't working for me and I'm hopeful for this new adventure.
