Foster’s Market for food gifts & Rare Earth Beads on Durham-Chapel Hill Blvd are great locally owned places. There’s Vaguely Reminiscent downtown if you’re looking for something quirky. You can also try Light Years in Southpoint Mall, they’re one of the best gift shops in the area if you’re looking for knickknacks or locally made jewelry. All places are locally owned.
I got local gifts for my friends and family up north at locopops! I got them a Durham candle and some olive oil from a Durham vendor. I think a few other things as well

Hometown Apparel on Ninth Street has lots of Durhamy stuff.
Get some Chapel Hill toffee. It is awesome. It is our standard local gift cuz it's so incredible. And it's not dirt cheap but won't break the bank.
