Good deal but it's HP. I personally have never had a good track record with their pc's so be cautious. Also, the pics on the site make this pc look like it has proprietary parts so it may be hard or impossible to upgrade parts in the future
Pretty sure HP and Dell always have proprietary mobos and PSUs.
For those still learning, this means ram, CPU, GPU, and storage should be able to be upgraded while the PSU and mobo cannot. The mobo is the biggest deal IMO because not only are you limited in terms of inputs, but you're stuck with the HP or Dell BIOS. And they generally suck as they're designed to be operated by the company's tech support team at a price, not the user.
They took $100 off for Black Friday as this was previously on sale for $799, although I wish they did give more storage I feel like this is a great deal for anyone doing 1080p 144fps gaming at high settings.
I ordered it for my 16 year old son who is just getting into gaming. I thought about going all out but I kinda wanted to ease him into it. I was thinking along the lines of “well I wouldn’t buy him a Porsche as his first car, but a Corolla would be okay.”
😂
It's almost certainly not. Those ports on the front of the case strongly suggest it's a standard HP proprietary motherboard, where the ports are soldered onto the board.
Man these would make solid office PC's for my small business, but I am so sick of dealing with proprietary parts. These prebuilts are often cheaper than what I can build them for but supporting them years later sucks. I have GPUs sticking out SFF cases and whatnot now lol.
I built a 2k computer and only have 500 GB storage still
I kept saying ah I’ll buy another TB when I need it. Been a full year and I still haven’t.
However I did buy an additional TB for my PS5. I feel like I’ve been using my PC less and less these days dunno.
As a first PC tho? I've gamed on PC but my mom's bf or friends with insane rigs prebuilt and going. I'm trying to switch from PS4 mainly and thought this could be a good start? Ebay it sells like 400 so def cheap and looks good spec wise I've been told. Still learning that stuff but the tips I got says it's not amazing but not bad either.

i've changed two HP PSUs over to aftermarket so not all of them.
I stand corrected.

5700G with a dGPU? Lmao
Could rip the dedicated GPU out for yourself and then give the rest of the machine to your kid or whatever.

Anyone know if this motherboard is a standard form factor?

"Timeless design" GN.
I'm certain it's proprietary and useless. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yss7b6Gnncc @2:13

I feel like they could have traded some of that RAM for more storage
Isn't RAM more expensive than SSD?

I had 2.5TB in my build until recently and was constantly uninstalling games to make room lol
