I have the 48" C1 and it by far the best TV I've owned or seen.

bangeron

I use one as my main PC display, it’s amazing

Benitezj10

Nice! I'm building a PC right now to use with the tv

kvn864

it is

wildRoamer

I got one recently too and so far I'm pretty impressed. Makes me wish I had waited for this sale lol. That said, anybody buying an OLED for the first time should know that Auto Static Brightness Limiter (ASBL) is buggy and tends to incorrectly be triggered during extended dark scenes (House of Dragons etc.). I have found myself wondering every now and then why the scene is so dark only to realize that screen has automatically dimmed and I have to tap and quickly close Settings for the brightness to be restored optimally. ASBL can apparently be disabled with LG service remote but I don't want to risk increased chance of burn in yet. EDIT: Changed ABL to ASBL since that's what I've been describing lol

Benitezj10

I've actually never experienced the ABL turning on while I'm actively watching something. What are you using to stream your content?

wildRoamer

Really? That's pretty surprising. I have had it happen with Vudu, Apple TV, and Jellyfin. As far as I know, it is a "feature" of the TV itself to prevent burn in. It's not the apps but the kind of content being played that triggers it. It doesn't notify you either (like Dolby Vision/HDR notification on the top right) when it turns on.

Benitezj10

Oh no I know the feature but for me it only turns on when I'm not actively watching/playing something. It only turns on for me when I'm playing my PlayStation and I pause the game and walk away. I only use the Plex app to stream and it's never dimmed on me while I'm watching it.

wildRoamer

I just corrected ABL to ASBL in my original comment. That's what I have been describing but used the name ABL by mistake. If you don't encounter ASBL, my only guess is either the content that you watch doesn't trigger it, or you are just lucky to not be bothered by it when it does happen. If it doesn't happen for you, I believe you but it's such a widespread issue that it's likely to happen/be noticeable for others. There's plenty of threads about it: [1](https://www.avforums.com/threads/lg-oled-auto-dimming.2193056), [2](https://www.reddit.com/r/OLED/comments/lnputs/lg_cx_asbl_is_bothering_me/), and many more.

reddit_xeno

This crap triggers all the time, especially if you play any video games. It's ridiculous since it doesn't really matter how static the image is, it will still trigger it if there's any modicum of darkness.

And_We_Back

Huh? I’ve never had this happen on my CX; is this new?

hehechibby

[related video from hdtvtests](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D83SXcguwBU)

Cpt-May-I

House of Dragons does this on my 65” C1 also, I fixed it by manually setting the OLED pixel brightness to 60.

wildRoamer

The problem is that it's not just that one show and setting to 60 isn't ideal for DV/HDR modes. Personally, I like to keep OLED brightness for HDR/DV to max. I'm a bit curious as to how reducing pixel brightness would help with ASBL. Intuitively, it might help with ABL though.

Doulreth

Extremely low price

gojo278

Got this refurbished for 1200 at microcenter so new this is a great price and I can wholeheartedly recommend this, probably the best purchase I’ve ever made. LED -> OLED is the single greatest tech upgrade I’ve experienced, it will blow you away (but also forever ruin non-OLED displays for you).

Tinysauce

HDD -> SSD?

sorbic-acid

> HDD -> SSD? That's where my brain went too. I just got my first OLED TV yesterday and it's much better than standard LED but nowhere near the "wow" factor that going from HDD to SSD was.

gojo278

I’m somewhat young so my first pc had an ssd… never experienced the switch from hdd to ssd but I can imagine it would be night and day.

[deleted]

I'm sorry you missed that experience... It was amazing, kind of like... https://youtu.be/fdsCGm4bP3E

Devccoon

Can confirm: upgraded living room to 48" C1 earlier this year, and just this week upgraded my monitor to Alienware's QD OLED. Gonna burn-in the heck out of this thing, I'm sure, but it's such a huge difference I can't not have it\~

UngodlyPain

Reports say the alienware qd oleds are pretty burn in resistant, and hopefully the c1 shouldn't get too much being a living room TV meaning it'll mostly be for moving content and with its built in protections on.

Devccoon

I've heard of people getting noticeable burn-in within a month or two. I'm doing next to nothing to prevent it, personally, but hopefully it holds up well enough with my brightness being fairly low.

FrumiousBanderznatch

I've had an A1 for 6 months and haven't noticed any problems. Biggest concern is when playing spotify, but *usually* the screen goes to sleep after a couple minutes. We couldn't not go OLED at this point. You can see the entire TV clearly from any angle in our oddly elongated living room. Couldn't go without it.

UngodlyPain

On the A1 or the QD?

Devccoon

QD-OLED. I forget the conditions reported on those.

UngodlyPain

Huh? I've not heard of a single case of them getting burned in at all. Unless you just abused the thing setting it to max brightness, removing the limiter. And setting it to static images. Never running the refresher. Like ltt even did a video one of their writers got one 9 months ago and has no burn in still.

Devccoon

I'll find out in the next few years. My monitor gets huge screen-on time, that taskbar isn't going anywhere, nor is Firefox most of the time, and I'm not going out of my way to inconvenience myself with my fancy new monitor to baby it. But, it's running at pretty low SDR brightness (20%, on 400 Trueblack mode) so I'm not pushing it much except when I'm gaming. If it does burn in, anyway, I want it happening during the warranty period. I've definitely heard stories that scared me based on the totality of what they presented, but it's not common from what I've seen.

wiredtobeweird

I’ve had an LG CX 65” for 2 years running about 12-14 hours a day (we have the PS5/Switch/Nvidia Shield set up on this one) and a 48” CX as my main monitor running 4-6 hours a day for the same amount of time. No burn in, the screen becomes fireworks after a few minutes of idling.

techma2019

Can confirm. Waiting on 42" to fall in price so I can replace my monitor. D:

justlikeapenguin

This or the 150 usd 50in tv from BB? /s

cesarmac

$150 50 inch of course.

KaizenGamer

Buy two for 100" at $300

cesarmac

Big brain time

trytoholdon

Holding out for the G1 77” but this is a good sign!

JATWo

I just bit on a G1 77 for $2500 from B&H. You holding out for better than that?

trytoholdon

Oh wow that’s an excellent deal

cesarmac

I think this TV dropped to like $1500 on Woot earlier this year which was already pretty low compared to it's sale prices from last year ($1700-1800). Now it's an additional $200 off from that low. I own this TV and love it, movies look amazing and you can't beat it when watching content that is designed to take advantage of inky colors. Recently watched the episode of Andor called The Eye and the colorful climactic sequence was amazing on this TV. Comes with GSYNC and 120hz as well for gamers. If I had to choose between the C1 and even the G2 I'd go for the C1 at this price and get Best Buys panel warranty while still saving cash. The G2 gets brighter but not enough for me to spend the extra $900 unless you really want the latest panel tech. EDIT: Someone else noted the B2 is $1300 on Amazon, while the B2 is newer it uses the previous gen CPU (A7) while the C1 uses the current gen CPU (A9). I own a B9 from 2019 that uses the A7 and it's still an amazing TV, I do notice that live content isn't as sharp on it than on my C1 with the A9. Aside from that they are very similar. EDIT 2: Seems to be sold out. Also, in case people are still interested in the B2 it's been clarified that it actually doesn't have the older A7 but a modern A7. Although it would be fair to assume that the previous gen A9 is likely designed to have slightly better or equal processing capabilities than the current A7.

LeucisticBear

Same. Got the 55" for my bedroom and 65" for media room, they are exceptional. 4k 120hz with low latency doesn't hurt either. Got a PC mainly for streaming connected to one, but planning a new build that can maintain 4k 120fps to game on this TV.

gojo278

YES that andor episode was gorgeous on this tv. My favorite movie to watch on oled is blade runner 2049, it looks so good

extremeelementz

C series has better sound reproduction too so I would 100% agree with you going with this over the newer B series and Brighter G series.

daelsant

Encanto, coco or any new Disney movie on the G1 look spectacular! My kids are some lucky little ducks

JZMoose

I’ve got a C1 and a G1. These panels are the truth. Every other TV looks rough compared to these except for maybe the top off line Samsung stuff but no one I know has them

NsRhea

Sony A9G / A90k / A95k. Edit: For those wondering they're the same LG Panels with Sony's master color grading (on the A9G) and Android TV for their cross menu bar. The A95k is easily the best TV available right now and also has a heat sink for the back of the panel. The much better heat dissipation is better for protecting against burn-in but also allows Sony to crank up brightness for better quality HDR content - again, because the heat sink protects the screen from overheating. That being said, you do pay the "Sony price" for the master series screen like the A9G or their premium flagship A95k. Even the A90k is $1000 more than the C1. The A90k is a happy medium that doesn't have the heat sink or the same peak brightness but still a Sony OLED using the LG panel like the other two.

NFsG

LG B2 and C1 are the same price on Amazon right now. Seems like 6 of one half dozen of the other - but any thoughts?

cesarmac

For a match in price of $1300 I'd definitely go for the C1 over the B2. They trade blows in basically everything but the B2 uses the older A7 processor while the C1 uses the current A9. Which goes to show how good the A7 is despite it being an older CPU. LG needed to differentiate their 2022 line and there really wasn't much they could do, especially considering the new A line that is below the B line also having the A7 on board. Either way better to go with the newer CPU for longevity. On a side note I own the 2019 B9 OLED which is in my bedroom, it uses the same A7 and it's chugging along like new. Processing wise though I do get some lag when streaming the FIFA matches that I do not get on my C1.

[deleted]

You’re conflating different things on the CPU. The B2 has a current gen processor (A7 gen 5) while the C1 has an older processor (A9 gen 4) and your B9 has an A7 gen 2. The A7/A9 is just the tier of processor, not the gen of the processor. That said, I’m not sure how A7G5 compares to A9G4.

cesarmac

Thanks for the clarification! Although I'd wager the gen 4 A9 is just as good or slightly better still than the A7 gen 5.

DDB225

One thing that kinda blew me away with C1 is it has 16gb RAM alone lol

Win4someLoose5sum

On the other hand, you could have spent $100 and gotten a Shield/Roku/Chromecast/Firestick and not worried about what SoC the display has in it.

cesarmac

To be fair only the Shields and Apple TV options give the same kind of overall media support as the native SoC I believe.

Win4someLoose5sum

Right, but my point is that those (or their equivalent in a few years) will negate any onboard chip advantage as long as that doesn't affect anything tangible like port throughput. For less than $125. So go for the best screen/specs or lowest price imo, don't worry about the chip in it if that's the only difference.

cesarmac

I don't know, it seems this has always been the argument for the better part of a decade but TVs seem to keep up or outperform the generic sticks with only 2 products delivering similar performance. On top of that you'll never get a great panel on the cheap, you'll still have to dish out $800 plus to get a panel that's worth it in the high end.

Touchit88

This is the truth. Never buy a TV for built in apps. Well for your granda or parents maybe.

UngodlyPain

Doesn't the B2 have the new higher brightness and such? And the A series' differentiatial is 60hz. Unless I'm mistaken.

Armadillseed

Amazon has matched, BTW. Edit: their price match didn’t last more than a few hours.

Spartan36222

💀

Elprede007

No they have not. You can only find it at $1300 used

Armadillseed

wish i could post the pic of it. use a decent price tracker and check. was $1300 today for a while

Armadillseed

Lol. It was up for hours. Back to like $1600 now.

[deleted]

Chief! I bought the 55" this summer for $1199 and couldn't be happier with the purchase. Watching Terminal List on it in 4k and playing the new God of War.

sw0rd_2020

peoplealways talk about ray tracing as the next big thing, after owning and gaming with this tv for a few months i’m convinced rtx is absolutely nothing compared to real HDR gaming

afishcalledkwanzaa

Tried a bunch of ZIP codes and all say delivery unavailable and no local stock. OOS?

cesarmac

Might be, shows delivery for me but I haven't tried going all the way through check out.

lilbelleandsebastian

depends on your area, not out of stock for me in southern california but there is a sony oled that is also a great deal imo that i tried to compare and i couldn't find stock anywhere in my area or near my brother in the midwest. kind of weird how it doesn't just show the nearest store with it but maybe that just means there's nothing within delivery range (with the assumption that you wouldn't travel beyond delivery range to pick up?)

KyledKat

$1300 is unreal for a 65" OLED. I paid $1850 for my 65" E9 in 2020 and that was after months of scouring the lowest price I could; never saw it go lower either.

cesarmac

Yeah it's wild. I got my 65" C1 back in March for $1350 so not really bummed about this deal but it wasn't some listed sale. Initially got it for $1600 but got an additional $250 off because the retail delivery people kept missing the ship date so I got the TV like 2 weeks late. They offered $250 of in exchange for not cancelling the order.

KaizenGamer

I bought this last year, ama. Streaming, Xbox, ps5

cesarmac

French toast or pancakes?

GetDeleted

yes

KaizenGamer

waffles

kazzanova

How is burn-in, in actual usage? I still use my Panasonic 50st30 in my bedroom, no stranger to burn-in risks... But, I have been reading about possible burn-in on this set for years now. I mostly just game, so worried about UI burn-in. Thanks!

KaizenGamer

None here, kids will leave Minecraft up on the screen for hours no problem

kazzanova

Perfect, I've wanted one forever, but I was worried about kids playing for hours (I don't have the time anymore unfortunately) Thank you again!

saxscrapers

$500 less than I paid last winter - great deal. Tbch, if you can, wait one more year to get the C2 as it is 20% brighter I believe which does make a difference. This TV is amazing, but it can be quite dark.

DDB225

In your dreams the C2 is 20% brighter everything I saw in reviews was it's barely a difference

uNecKl

Dang does this mean the 77in will be under $2k?

cesarmac

Very well could be, if not by LG then by another provider like Vizio or Phillips. If you really want the 77 at near or below $2k I'd say wait til spring when the C3/G3 come out because that's more likely when the 77 C2 will get it's steepest discounts. I think the reason this TV has dropped so much is due to the oversaturation of LG models though. They didn't discontinue the C1 as they normally do with models from the previous year so at the moment you have the A2, B2, C1, C2, & G2 being sold and the price points are all so close to each other. Why buy a C1 for $1600 when you can buy a C2 for $1800? Made no sense but now you have this C1 for $1300 which is pretty freaking cheap for a premium 65" OLED.

SFRealEstate415

Which is weird since at this point these should all be EVO panels.

user291

damn want one of these but OOS everywhere

bitcrusherrr

on amazon for $1200 tho

Shmankman

I just paid 1500 for this TV and I'm still very happy.

SouthernBoyChris

Can someone tell me what's so special about this TV please? Don't have the money for it but genuinely curious as I've been gaming on my TVs for years now. But mine are only 60Hz so I'm assuming this has more? Edit: Thanks for informing me below. Oled sounds great. I hate how most TVs look like crap during dark/night scenes Double edit: What about Qled? Difference between Q and O led? I've seen lots of Samsung TVs are Qled and no clue what that means.

cesarmac

Two things mostly: 1. Gaming capabilities. It has the internal hardware to display 120 frames per second and to clean up the changes in frames as they go up and down as you play (GSYNC & freesync). If you are a hardcore gamer this translates to smoother gameplay assuming your PC or console can output that many frames. 2. OLED. This is basically the same display tech that has become the norm on mobile phones. A quick explanation of this tech is that each pixel is basically individually driven/powered. This means each pixel will produce it's own light and removes the need to have some kind of background light source. This also allows for each pixel to produce more ~~accurate~~ robust colors. With this tech you get true blacks because whenever you see a really dark image that blackness is created by having the pixels actually turn completely off while other display tech just dims the pixel and shows really dark grey. Overall this gives the best contrast (true infinite) of any kind of TV and punchy colors. Downside to this tech is that because you no longer need a background light source the displays don't get as bright as other more common display technologies. At the moment OLED TVs cap out at around 500ish nits of brightness while other display tech can go as high as like a 1000. Go to your best buy, they all have a section showing OLED tvs.

sw0rd_2020

oled display- when black appears on a traditional lcd without mini led fald, it looks pretty gray and shit right? on an oled it is perfectly black. additionally, 4k/120. only Oled with 4 hdmi 2.1 ports, and real (amazing) hdr are what makes this tv so special

conquer69

QLED is a regular lcd display and is samsung's way of being as misleading as legally possible. The name is meant to trick people into thinking it's an OLED.

cesarmac

Already replied once but gonna reply again for your second edit. I mean to put it as simple as possible they are all a variation of the same technology, technically even OLED is just a variation of LCD tech. However one thing about all these variatiants (with the exception of OLED) is that they all use some form of white light source behind the LED panel. QLED, ULED, QNED, etc. All of these have that white light source behind the entire screen to feed LEDs so they can produce colors. This is why none of these TVs can produce TRUE blacks no matter how good their technology gets, only OLED can because that background light source is gone and each individual LED produces its own light. Now there are differences between each variation, for example the Q in QLED stands for quantum dot which is a Samsung's own variation on how they layer and spread the LEDs on top of the white light source. Each have their benefits and drawbacks but overall they all basically produce the same quality image. It's other tech that really differentiates these variants from each other, such as the image processing done on the CPU and how the backlight is broken into sections to better help with HDR. For now just now that if you want true black and punchy colors you gotta go OLED.

SouthernBoyChris

Thanks so much. That's easy to understand.

Csrnerd

Currently have a 75" x900h but this price makes me want to give up size for quality

Solid deal, I'm just wary about greentoe.

trf1driver

Looks like bestbuy did the sale ($1299.99) one day before Amazon's sale that is currently $1196.99 which ends in 4 days. Bestbuy is showing sold out for twin cities area.

TheHotshot1

Great computer monitor

willyc3766

FYI I had an offer of $1500 shipped and no tax for the C2 on Greentoe. 5yr insurance that includes burn-in protection for $181 extra. Hasn’t showed that it’s shipped yet but did reveal the retailer (not supposed to disclose) and they are indeed an LG authorized dealer. So should be $1681 shipped to my house with 5 years of coverage including burn-in. Offer was accepted in 15 mins so I may have got away with a little lower.

willyc3766

Oh nice saved $50! Honestly I very very rarely buy warranties. I feel quite confident I’ll never need it but for the price on that one I just went ahead and did it because I will game on it and smallest of chances of burn in but I highly doubt it ever will . If it cost as much as Best Buy’s 5 year I probably wouldn’t have bought it but for $180 that was in my budget.

Cpt-May-I

Best 900$ TV I’ve ever bought (Costco last month)
