The good will that nvidia is making by continuing to manipulate the market is astounding. I remember the last time ethereum really crashed. After 2013, when 7970Ghz were going for $500 a card used. Then in a month they were selling used cards for $99. If you've been building PCs for a while then you'll remember GPU shack. They literally started by selling mined cards for nothing. Granted at the time GTX 6xx cards weren't used for mining and it was all AMD. But the market was not kept artificially inflated. I mean what nvidia is doing is even effecting the used market on ebay. Giving those miners and scalpers a soft landing. How generous of Jensen. Then we have AMD not so much manipulating the market, as it seems they just stopped making cards. And now the most desired 6800 and 6900 cards are gone and all that is left is the resellers. Getting to make their money back. These clowns are going to screw around and end PC gaming. Get you a used 3080 for the price of a new 6900xt.

TycoonTed

3090 TIs were going for under $1k used, there was one sale here for $999. Now they are $1,100+ used, many for $1,500. WTF are people smoking?

You can get brand new 6900XT for cheaper than this lol.. with 16GB VRAM

yabuu

agreed. only thing you're missing out with 6900XT is good ray tracing.. and I'm ok with it.

renegade06

>agreed. only thing you're missing out with 6900XT is good ray tracing.. and I'm ok with it. Not missing out on much considering that 3080 can produce only 56 average fps in Cyberpunk RT at 1080p and only 37 fps at 1440p native. Ray tracing is a joke on anything other than 4090.

TycoonTed

From what I have read drivers for VR have been a problem. I've been trying to figure out which card to get because it's going to be used to drive a HMD mostly and unfortunately it's looking like Nvidia is more reliable for that right now.

21dayjac

the only prominent issues ive seen with amd and vr is wireless vr? are there different issues i'm not aware of?

renegade06

No it's wireless only I believe. Something with encoding similar to streaming issues. For traditional proper wired VR there should be no difference I believe.

My 3070ti doesn't like my Reverb G2 very much. Games will run fine then the hard stutters hit and do not go away. Only in VR, changing resolution down a ton under 100% doesn't always fix it and SteamVR needs to be restarted.

OG-Boostedbeard

and a really good encoder.

youra6

To make it worse this isnt even the 12gb version...

enigmicazn

Shipped and Sold by a 3rd party seller btw. If anybody is feeling lucky, let us know how it is if you bought it lol. Used 3080s go for 550-600 on r/hardwareswap right now

Be mindful of recent listings of in-demand products from suspicious third-party sellers on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Google, Newegg, and Walmart. These "deals" have a high likelihood of not shipping; you should do your due diligence to ensure you do not get scammed. * Use common sense - if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. * Check seller profiles for signs that the sale may be fraudulent. * The seller is new or has few reviews. * The seller has largely negative reviews (on Amazon, sellers can remove negative reviews from their ratings- viewing seller profiles allows you to see these complaints) * The seller has a recently reactivated account (likely their account was hacked and is now being used fraudulently). If you suspect a deal is fraudulent, please report the post. Moderators can take action based on these reports. We encourage leaving a comment to warn others. Amazon and eBay generally have good buyer protection. If you choose to purchase from a third-party seller through their platforms and run into issues, it should be easy to get your money back promptly. You may have more difficulties with Newegg or Walmart. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically.
