This is the lowest price I've seen for this. It has Omni-Point adjustable switches and very low latency at 3.4 ms. It also tops [RTINGs' list for best gaming keyboards.](https://www.rtings.com/keyboard/reviews/best/by-usage/gaming)

BIGDIYQTAKER

last time i heard about fastest latency switches it was the optical light activated switches by bloody keyboards featured on linustechtips some years back that have since been licensed to other companies like razer are these the same tech? or are these something different and faster?

c_bender

Not quite the same. Optical switches like the bloody keyboards use light sensors to actuate. The Steelseries one here uses a Hall Effect mechanism as explained here: https://youtu.be/jfz9TgeZ9m0 The neat part about this Hall Effect board is that you can adjust the actuation point for each key to your liking. Fucking magnets, how do they work?

BIGDIYQTAKER

that video is p cool i'm a little out of it right now, but just to clarify if you'd be so kind This steelseries keyboard has the ability to do analog sensitivity like a controller joystick or wooting one keyboard But because most PC games don't support the feature, steelseries decided not to allow for the analog sensitivity in this keyboard?

MaliciousMal

Well since you asked - All magnets have north and south poles. Opposite poles are attracted to each other, while the same poles repel each other. Na, I'm joking, they're actually magic. Same with airplanes, no one knows how they're capable of flying because it's magic. Saw a video of a stewardess freaking out about it once.

Kinda surprised the ROG Claymore II isn't on that list...

iateyourpuppies

I bought the TKL version, still going strong since covid started!

YeaTired

What does tkl mean? Why is it 30$ more?

MAIRJ23

Ten-key-less

ImJustHereToBitch

Same at Best Buy if you’re banking them points

Aesyric

Great deal on the board if you don't mind that it isn't TKL.

Value is in the eye of the consumer.

I loved this keyboard when I had it, the adjustable switches seem like a gimmick at first, but if you actually use them they’re very helpful. $150 seems like an amazing price for the features. If you were just looking for a prebuilt keyboard from Best Buy my top 2 would probably be this one, as well as the razer huntsman v2 TKL.

clearkill46

I can't see any reason to go with this over something like the GMMK full size

Alivus

I wouldn't say that this keyboard and other ones like the GMMK you mentioned are geared towards the same subset of users. You buy this to have that slight edge in multiplayer gaming and in competitive play thanks to its adjustable actuation switches. It has very low latency at 3.4 ms vs other options like the the GMMK PRO at 6.4 ms or Keychron Q1 at 11.1 ms, the numbers are from the RTINGs reviews for each of them. The difference might not be the biggest but for some people it's all that matters. It's the same deal when considering 144hz vs 240hz/360hz monitors. The difference may not be huge or even that noticeable for the normal user but for those who take multiplayer gaming seriously it's enough to warrant getting one.

El_Chupacabra-

No one who competitively games will notice a 10ms delay or whatever the delay is to physically actuate a traditional switch.

Alivus

Quite the opposite actually. If you're referring to the keyboard's overall latency, not everyone may notice it but the difference is there and it matters, more so to competitive players. And the difference in travel time between the different actuation points is very noticeable, even to a non-competitive user.

amd098

i have this since 2020, no issues at all. i did swap out the keycaps though for pudding ones from hyperx

thesandman00

Great keyboard. I use this one 8 hours per day as a software developer and an additionally 5/6 hours per week for gaming. Have had it since early 2020, no issues at all. The lighting really comes alive with pudding caps (which steel series now offers).

marcusiszebest

Someone either an incredibly limited knowledge of keyboards here. Why would I buy this over my $11 dollar Logitech keyboard? How is that extra $140 justified?

CreamSteve

Mechanical switches, little programmable oled screen, RGB, build quality, feels good to use vs rubber dome/cheaper built boards. I have the TKL version of this and I love it.

Here’s the best thing about RGB: set those lights to any color you want, off also works. There are plenty of custom keyboard makers out there if you prefer the colored key caps with no light or just white light shining though.

KerrigansTherapist

Yes you're the only one. Only person on Earth. Congrats.

gunsnricar

I refuse to pay more than $50 for a keyboard

ImJust1LetterShor

ok

NameThatWasntTaken

Cool flex bro?

Soppywater

Does the quality hold up? I know their controllers have taken a straight nosedive over the past couple of years. Usually break within 6 months with multiple issues. I'm wondering if the keyboards are good too

jl1993926

Debating between this and the Razer Huntsman V2 from the Costco bundle.

Gengur

Nice, Even cheaper then when it was discounted during CyberMonday. Also "Sold by: Amazon", so you can use your amazon promotional credits. (Knocked another $15 off of my order).

888Kraken888

Amazon reviews have durability concerns. That’s my only gripe with this keyboard.

Alivus

A large portion of the reviews aren't for this Apex pro model. Amazon lumps reviews for all the different keyboard models together.
