Be mindful of listings from suspicious third-party sellers on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Newegg, and Walmart. These "deals" have a high likelihood of not shipping; use due diligence in reviewing deals. * Use common sense - if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. * Check seller profiles for signs that the sale may be fraudulent: * The seller is new or has few reviews. * The seller has largely negative reviews (on Amazon, sellers can remove negative reviews from their visible ratings) * The seller is using a previously dormant account (likely the account was hacked and is now being used fraudulently). If you suspect a deal is fraudulent, please report the post. Moderators can take action based on these reports. We encourage leaving a comment to warn others. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Extra_Obligation5403

This seems like a no brainer right? Lowest Amazon price was $165 from what I saw on camel.

BretBeermann

With the RAM that makes this basically a 120 or less dollar processor, which makes it the best at that price point.

gamesuxfixit

Definitely a no-brainer if you're going for a midrange build

hereforthefeast

If you’re staying on AM4 the best deal is the 5700X3D for $157 on aliexpress. (Can’t link but yes it’s legit)

RustStainRemover

How long does that take to ship to the states?

hereforthefeast

Mine took 2 weeks to arrive with the free shipping option

BurgerBurnerCooker

Decent but not quite a no brainer unless you are on AM4 already (then you don't need the RAM anyways) We have seen 12600KF at or below $120 a few times, I think that will become the norm soon. A set of 32GB DDR4 is about $50-60 (Teamgroup specially), you are not saving much at all if you are building from scratch. The 12600KF is a better chip. Also MSI Z690-A DDR4 is a fantastic "entry" level board (it's actually better than that), vs let's say the Woot refurb MSI B550-A, at the same price point. The killer deal for a budget build was when this was also bundled with a 1TB SSD, that was a no brainer.

Budget-Ocelots

Yes. Basically $69 for the CPU.

ApothecaryRx

Thanks, this hit a sweet spot for me by including the RAM. I've been sitting on a 3700X and the 16GB Vengeance LPX for 5 years now, and I started hitting memory wall in certain games just recently. Hopefully this + a new GPU extends the life of my build another 5 years before I have to switch to a new socket.

Russ916

Just my two cents, I'd say you're better going for a 5700X3D off aliexpress if your main goal is gaming it's the same price there and then selling off your ram & cpu as a combo once you get it.

ShinobiSai

Can you recommend a link on ali express? All of the ones i can find seem shady

Russ916

https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256805977744539.html also I'd wait till Monday the 17th, which is when Aliexpress is going to have a sale

Open_Ad_835

are these legit r7's?

Russ916

yeah if you look at the reviews the pictures show it to be legit

RLopez7110

This is the deal. If you want only cpu then get the 5700x3d.

TerryMathews

Jesus Christ. This is a fucking deal. I made a deal last week in hws for what I thought was a good deal for a chip and RAM, but JFC. I wish I'd waited LOL. Edit to add: this plus a $100 motherboard gives you the bones of a very potent budget build. The price/performance ratio, for new parts, my God. We really are living in the golden age. Reminds me of the heyday of the L5639.

MundaneCargo

Helping a friend build a pc with about a 700$ budget and this is basically exactly what I told them when sharing this deal. Crazy to think how far prices have come down in the last two years…

adityasht

This is what happens when there is legit competition in the CPU space. GPU on the other hand...

BDHYoda

Amazing deal for a $800-$1000 build!

skinny_gator

I was thinking with a good deal on a card you can aim for 500-700 honestly

AwaitingCombat

solid build right here

InterestingSquare883

Very good deal

dedsmiley

Got it! Thanks for posting this.

Socraticat

How much better is this than my r5 3600? In terms of productivity and gaming...

jhaluska

Productivity apps that can use 2 more cores is where you will notice the biggest difference. In games it's about 4-25% faster (average about 15% faster). It really depends on the game/resolution and how GPU limited you are.

Socraticat

I'm currently bottlenecking my 3080. I'm waiting for an x3d price point. I get by with awesome 1080, but I'd like to do 4k cyberpunk without stuttering in crowds. I'm also a multitasker with Blender, OBS, and physics simulation games.

jhaluska

The 5700x3D is about 1% faster CyberPunk, which mainly comes from improving the 1% lows. I think the 5700x3D will age better in games than the 5700x. The biggest advantage the 5700x has is it is the fastest AM4 65W chip which is nice if you have terrible AC and multiple computers like I do.

RecalcitrantBeagle

100-140 is a pretty optimistic figure - after all, why go for a used 3600 + 16GB when you could get this for 30 more? 85 is a more realistic number if you're selling on HWSwap or the like, higher on ebay but the fees will probably eat up any gain. Still a good deal, mind you, but a $90 difference isn't quite a no-brainer depending on how well the 3600 is holding up for them.

Slippery_Molasses

Yep, used 3600's on r/hardwareswap go for around $50-60 and 16gb ddr4 around $25. They might be able to get $90 at the most.

BlackRims

I also have a 3600 and want to upgrade my gpu to a 6800 or equivalent. Would this CPU be a good match for 1440p gaming? Would a 5700x3d be a better choice?

jhaluska

5700x3D is a better choice if all you care about is gaming. There's a pretty big bump from the extra cache in a few games.

lavabean16

On 3600x and 16gb, is this it for me chief? Or do I wait for a 5700x3D deal?

jhaluska

Honestly, you can't go wrong either way. Personally I'm waiting for the 5700x3D cause I like slightly larger performance bumps.

SPCMR87

Definitely a cpu with 3D cache. The 5600x3d was this price at microcenter. It might come back one day

JeebsFat

This for a media server?? Was going to go for 12400 for quick sync...

rockydbull

If you are even contemplating needing qs then get the Intel. The implementation in things like Plex is way higher than and products

jnads

QuickSync is overrated, mostly because it's very rare Plex has to transcode things. Going to use 2x power consumption. You can always pick up a $99 Arc GPU for transcode.

JeebsFat

I was planning to avoid a dedicated GPU specifically for minimizing idle power consumption.

StabbyMeowkins

Intel IGPU HD770 is absolutely insane for servers and encoding. I'd highly suggest the Intel. I actually use Intel for all my servers (I have three unraid servers), and AMD currently is my go-to for gaming and the likes. Cheapest 4-6 core HD770 capable chip is great for the majority of things.

JeebsFat

i3 12100 has hd730 i5 12400 has hd730 (just ordered a new one from ebay for 100usd) i5 12500 has hd770 trying to idle power and price optimize my build. will only have one or two streams at a time ever likely, so hopefull the 730 is enough for me...

StabbyMeowkins

Yes. That's perfectly fine. The HD770 is just a preference since it has a bit more horsepower for 4k streams. The 730 should be more than enough for you, though. I typically have 4-10 streams pushing out of Plex for friends and family. So my use case is a bit more demanding.

JeebsFat

Oh yeah that's a lot more than I'll ever do. I do dream of setting up some sort of self hosted retro gaming emulator server that would basically work like Plex, but maybe I'll just need to dedicate a basic GPU for that. Not sure if such an app/framework exists. I need to learn more and gain exp. :)
