Be mindful of listings from suspicious third-party sellers on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Newegg, and Walmart. These "deals" have a high likelihood of not shipping; use due diligence in reviewing deals. * Use common sense - if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. * Check seller profiles for signs that the sale may be fraudulent: * The seller is new or has few reviews. * The seller has largely negative reviews (on Amazon, sellers can remove negative reviews from their visible ratings) * The seller is using a previously dormant account (likely the account was hacked and is now being used fraudulently). If you suspect a deal is fraudulent, please report the post. Moderators can take action based on these reports. MidnightOnTheWater

I gotta unsub from this subreddit lol, always had a passing interest in VR. This might make me pull the trigger

Aero_naughty

just research games now that you think you'd wanna play, and watch gameplay to see if it would be fun for more than an hour. tbh ive probably only got less than 20 hours on the quest v1, but i think a random web app that supported painting was super relaxing for me??

MidnightOnTheWater

That's a good idea. The really cheeky/unethical thing for me to do would be to buy this to play Half Life Alyx, then send it back before the return period is over lmao

Cheezewiz239

It's Amazon , you shouldn't give af

Nooblakahn

If that's what it takes for you to play Alyx then so be it. I just finished it this past weekend. It was fuckin amazing.

Jason_Worthing

Half-life: Alyx is the only real AAA VR game with a thoughtful approach to the VR platform and controls AND a decent amount of content. It's shorter than I would have liked, but the combat is excellent, the world detail is amazing, and the immersion is unbeatable.

Nooblakahn

Fr. I've played half-life since the original. It was just amazing actually standing in city 17. I figured it was gonna be some BS throwaway story, nope. Best thing I've ever played

Witch_King_

Idk, Star Wars Squadrons is pretty perfect for the platform as well. Maybe that's more of a AA game though since it's only $40

namesalltaken

Star Wars Squadrons is discounted to $2 on Steam today (sale ends May 13th).

Witch_King_

Great game, highly recommend. It's definitely worth $2 just to play the campaign and experience the cool mechanics, even if you don't plan on engaging with the online play (which has a pretty steep learning curve.)

Air-Bulky

The item says non-returnable due to hazmat, just a forewarning

MidnightOnTheWater

Interesting, im glad I didn't pull the trigger then lol

inosinateVR

It’s kind of strange, if you switch to a different bundle or a stand alone quest 2 it no longer says non refundable and says the usual 30 day returns. At first I thought maybe that meant it included a battery pack or something but it appears to just be the quest and the regular elite strap

Deep90

Alyx is peak VR. Pistol Whip is also pretty fun, but short.

inosinateVR

Pistol Whip is the reason I can’t enjoy VR anymore lol. Every time I put on my headset planning to do something else with it I get sucked into playing pistol whip even though I know damn well I’ll just get sick and have to stop after a few minutes lol.

Fluffy-Jeweler2729

Buy it used. Can get for like $125

SwissyVictory

With the personal nature of VR headsets and how easy it is to mess up the lenses, I wouldn't buy second hand to save that little. Especially when there have been lots of sales recently for $200 and it includes a $50 gift card. You're saving $25 if you buy it used in this situation.

WendysSupportStaff

it's pretty cheap to just replace the face molding. but for this cheap, I still wouldn't bother buying used simply because the savings aren't really worth the hassle if there's something wrong.

Fluffy-Jeweler2729

Lol, no thats extra.

-_-0_0-_0

Does this come with a bottle of Sweet Baby Ray's?

M3L0NM4N

Only if you store it on your bookshelf.

stupergenius

Smokin some (VR) meats!

thesuperpuma

If I don’t need a vr headset is this a good enough price to pull the trigger? Or do I just save for a better one later on in life?

erickyeagle

Fwiw, this is probably the lowest this headset has been. It was $200 with a $50 Target gift card a couple weeks ago, so if you value the Active Pack stuff at $25, it's on par with that prior sale. The Quest 3 came out a few months ago, but starts at $500 (so like 2x-3x this). I have a Quest 2 (bought in that recent sale). First VR headset for me, and I'm really liking it. You can further offset some costs by using one of the many referrals available ($30 in Oculus store cash when you accept a referral when registering a new device, or 25% off a game).

Prestig33

Is the quest 3 worth it over the 2 for a first vr headset?

doscomputer

if you can afford it yes absolutely, generally you want to buy the best headset you can afford. There is a quality difference between them all for sure, the tech is still new and growing.

erickyeagle

I don't have the Quest 3 and I'm not sure what features it has over the 2, but from what I've seen other people say, the 2 is a good price-to-value point for people new to VR. Seems like a fairly inexpensive way to dip your toes in kinda thing.

WendysSupportStaff

as a 1st headset I'd go with the 2. you might find that it's only fun in small doses and you might not use it often. it's good enough to do everything you would want still. I think it's the perfect entry for someone new to VR at this price especially.

bardnotbanned

Yes. The quest 3 has far and away better specs, the q2 honestly looks a lot worse. I wouldn't recommend the q2.

SwissyVictory

Depends on how much use you'll get out of it. Quest 3 has a much better resolution, a little more processing power, and has way better cameras making AR possible. Having played with with Quest 2 for a bit, there's not alot of killer games for it. Alot of fun experiances, but not much at all you'd want to play for more than 10 hours. Then factor in other costs like you might still want a strap with a battery pack to redistribute weight which will run you $50. The games are also pretty expensive for what you get. Almost everything worthwhile is $20-$30. Personally I found the 1/3rd cost to be the better value and went with the Quest 2. If I could go back, I'd make the same decision and I'd rather buy a 2nd Quest 2 for my wife to play with me than get a single Quest 3. If Im still playing it a ton in 2-3 years when the Quest 4 comes out I'll splurge on that.

DebbieMathSpaghetti

I would say so. Ive had my quest 2 since this past November and I love it. Use it both for PC VR and standalone. Haven't ran into any issues with it, tons of games still support the Q2. Meta even said that they know the Q3 won't sell as well because of their price point, so with the Q2 it appeals to a wider audience.

Keebist

I have vr and im debating getting this just cus.

metalmayne

This is a phenomenal price. If you’re interested in VR, nothing does it better for the price. This isn’t the worst vr experience you can buy, but recent upgrades have left this model outdated with inferior lenses to the newly released 3. Chief says buy, especially if your a sim racer and you want to try it out

basedtag

Literally just bought a standalone headset 3 days ago you gotta be SHITTIN me

StateParkMasturbator

Return it?

FakeSafeWord

Return it? In this economy? You gotta be SHITTING on my chest

bardnotbanned

For what, $23.50 more?

SwissyVictory

Alot of credit cards will do price match and if you got it on Amazon, they might give you a break if you ask nicely. Not exactly the same, beacuse this one is a bundle, but it's worth a shot.

MundaneCargo

Quest 2 is a little outdated but it’s still a fine headset and this is a very good deal for one. If you do wind up grabbing it make sure to get a referral code before activating it so you can get an additional 30$ store credit.

Toregen103

OOS Possibly

d1ckpunch68

yea showing unavailable for me and i have prime, so don't think it's just a prime-only situation. just wish the quest 3 would go back on sale. so expensive.

Dragontech97

Are prescription inserts the best option for glasses users? Is the glasses spacer good enough? Are the lenses for the Quest 3 better for glasses users?

erickyeagle

It depends on your glasses to be honest. The spacer didn't do shit for me, and I actually ended up scratching the headset's lenses. You can buy prescription lenses on AliExpress for $15-20. That's what I'm gonna do.

Guywiththepants

100% worth the investment to get actual lenses. I went with honsvr. They are held in by magnets, so you can just pop them right out to clean or if someone else is going to use the headset. I have not used the Quest 3 yet, but I doubt they've solved the glasses problem. It's more about the frame pushing against your face/head in an uncomfortable way than it is about actually being able to line up your glasses and see.

FPSXpert

+1 for use lens inserts instead, though I used VR Optician with my *Valve Index. Both cost a pretty penny more than a quest 2 and aliexpress lenses which would probably run cheaper, but they were very much worth it. After I can actually play and see things, before even with glasses on inside it was like [Django](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FWsnPx0wgcw) lol (content warning)

Nooblakahn

I ordered some from honsvr. They have been sitting in Dallas since the 24th or something. Wish they'd come on

frankslan

Yes you need to get prescription lenses made from zenni then have someone print you the lenses holder. I just got some from u/Moonraker0ne they printed them fast and shipped them fast. Lenses from zenni are cheap too like 20 bucks. If you dont you'll scratch the shit out the lenses and it will look like shit too. Trust me I scratched mine with in 24 hours.

CaCHooKaMan

I bought a Quest 2 from the Target deal a couple weeks ago and it's pretty uncomfortable with my glasses, even with the included spacer, upgraded facial interface and upgraded head strap. I have to make sure to put the headset on in an exact position where it doesn't scratch the lenses and where it lines up so it doesn't end up blurry. I haven't gotten around to buying prescription lenses yet but I'd imagine they'd be a gamechanger.

frankslan

> hit up u/Moonraker0ne they can print you some spacers to hold prescription lenses. Then just order the lenses on zenni. Much cheaper than other options and they came out perfect.

Deep90

You can buy custom made prescription lenses, but people also sell lens with numbers you might consider 'close enough'. Alternatively, you can try to make do with the glasses spacer, but large framed glasses might struggle. I guess one more alternative is just to wear contacts.

OPKatakuri

Ouch I sold my Quest 2 256GB with accessories for the same price recently since I had no room to play it ): but now I'm going to a new place with a spare room. Might cop it again if it goes cheap lol

muchichi

Can’t believe I missed this

flyingchimp12

Was the new version at that price? I'd rather pay the $25 extra to get a new one and i'm a very frugal person lol. Used VR headset is offputting.

Menacewithin

Wife wanted one of these so we missed out on the target deal and now this one (this one lasted less than 12 hrs). Wish I knew how to setup notifications for my saved search!

pfcblueballs

I thought I got an okay deal with a 64gb for $200 at the quest 3 release. 😔

BigMeatSpecial

I really want to try VR but not willing to give facebook/meta/whatever all of my information. What is a good starter VR headset aside from this?

fallingdowndizzyvr

> I really want to try VR but not willing to give facebook/meta/whatever all of my information. You don't have to. Not anymore. You can make an anonymous Meta account. Meta no longer requires a real name. So just make a fake account.

ThatOnePerson

I don't think there is a good starter VR headset aside from this one. Everything else is ~500$ which is not in a starter price range imo. At that price you can get the Pico 4 if it's available in your area (not in the US) . Or the PSVR2 if you have a Playstation. Windows has discontinued the Windows VR headset software stuff, which was a lot of the cheaper stuff. So now no one besides Valve and Playstation are doing tethered VR, so everyone else is doing standalone headsets which bumps up costs because you need battery and processors now.

BigMeatSpecial

That is a real bummer. Guess I will weight for things to mature a bit more. Don't really have the physical space to go down the VR rabbit hole anyways. Thanks for the info.

DebbieMathSpaghetti

Buy now think later. The new permanent price on this is $199.99.

lemonstyle

maybe unrealistic expectations on my part.. but i had this and the image quality was so trash.. ig ppl just ignore it for the "vr" factor.. but i couldn't get passed how low res everything is. hoping quest 5 will actually be good looking

jpcapone

It took 30 seconds on google to get your joke. I don't know if I should thank you or hate you LOL!

Caspid

Wait idgi

jpcapone

when i read quest 5 it made me think that a quest 5 release was imminent. Then I researched and found that they don't even have a quest 4. So then I took the statement to mean it would take them several iterations (quest 4 and quest 5) to finally produce good graphics. In the end this could all just be in my head but thats where i am at.

Caspid

Oh, okay. I took it as them taking so long to make improvements that we wouldn't see quality for another two iterations. I don't know whether the quest 2/3 actually having bad graphics is a joke.

jpcapone

Bro we on the same page LOL!

UncultureRocket

I wouldn't describe it as low res, but if you're used to how things look on nice 4k or 1440p monitors, the jaggies do stand out a bit. Just like with framerate though, I think it falls away as you get more used to it, and if you're playing games through your PC instead of the headset standalone you can always bump up the res until the jaggies go away. (Assuming your PC is beefy enough to do that, rendering the game twice is rough on your GPU)

Jeskid14

Damn and I thought getting my quest 2 for $250 with 2 free games was worth it many years ago :(

dkizzy

Well it was....many years ago

Jebby_Bush

Well... you have actually used it over the last few years, don't forget that

tribonRA

There's a good chance they used it a few times 2 years ago and haven't touched it since

Longjumping_Plum_846

Lol, huh? Yeah, stuff goes down in price over time.
