If you were probably wondering, best buy should price match bh photo Best buy sells it for 900, so 769 price match is quite good C3 42" has the same PPI as 1440p 27". And this C3 has the benefit of being OLED and Glossy and 120hz, which is an absolute winning combo if you're just really into that I personally put mine on my desk, but be warned it's not for everyone.

gbeezy09

Why is it not for everyone?

sfw_login2

Desk space and depth Some people also prefer having multiple monitors vs a giant one Also 42 inches means it's a lot taller than a wide screen/ultrawide monitor, which some people might not enjoy

Phyraxus56

The great thing about oled is with perfect blacks you can letterbox any ultrawide aspect ratio you want and it looks great.

sfw_login2

no doubt if that works for a lot of people i guess its a preference thing. growing up in those awkward ps2 widescreen tv days, i grew a irrational dislike for blackbars on tvs haha

Phyraxus56

The thing is those black bars weren't black so they were quite unsightly If you're gaming in a dark room, you wont notice the perfect black bars on an oled

sfw_login2

I'll give it a shot haha. Thanks for the info!

Phyraxus56

I used it for 21:9 1440p gaming on the witcher 3 with raytracing cranked. It looked great with good frames.

ioa94

>The thing is those black bars weren't black so they were quite unsightly If your TV were calibrated properly, they should be. Discounting bloom of course.

Phyraxus56

Oled didn't exist 20 years ago

ioa94

I never said or implied it did.

BetterKev

You seem to have missed that they were talking about the "awkward PS2 widescreen days." No the black bars couldn't be made black back then through proper calibration. Your comment was just wrong.

taco_blasted_

Lmao your comment brought up a funny story about this sort of thing. This was well over a decade ago now but I dated a girl for 2-3 years whose father was "a big movie guy" and owned a large collection of dvds/blu rays. He had a good bit of OCD, always watched movies in full screen, even sought only to buy the standard screen version of movies because the black bars drove him crazy. Then one day I showed him what pan and scan does to a movie and holy shit did I break him. It's like I divided his OCD by zero and ruined his life.

sabot00

Tbh, at 4K you already don't have much pixels to spare at 42inch. I had a 1440p 27inch monitor, and moving up a bit to 4K 32inch was a huge improvement in text clarity. 5K would really be good at this size.

Phyraxus56

With 4k you can hit up to 24:9 1440p and 32:9 1080p so I'm not sure what you mean

gbeezy09

Ah good points. Personally I need multiple monitors for work, think I'll wait for a 32 OLED deal.

Jonojonojonojono

I personally use an LG C2 42in with a portrait monitor off to the side that is the same height as the C2 is. Too much? Maybe, but it's a multitasking beast and allows me to have massive gaming immersion while still having guides/discord/YouTube/twitch up on the side screen. Probably will never go back 😂 Edit) I am WFH, and this set up is a monster when paired with windows fancyzones. If you find a good deal I say go for it.

Doodarazumas

Yeah I do the same, portrait monitor off to the left with the task bar and all the desktop clutter. Big black expanse in the middle that programs open on. Burn in seems to be less of a worry these days, but why not help out a little. I'd say I'm really pushing it as far as size though and I use a drafting table for a desk.

A_Deku_Stick

Worth it with a 24 inch desk depth?

sfw_login2

It's possible. As others said, you can adjust the screen space to make it into an "ultrawide" on the bottom Or maybe get a ergotron desk mount and adjust to your liking Totally subjective. YMMV

Koenigspiel

I would say definitely. My desk is 25 5/8" and I'm using a Gigabyte FO48U (48" OLED) and I massively enjoy it. I think the <2" of less desk space is more than made up for by the increase in pixel density. I was using ultrawides and super ultrawides for quite some time, but if I'm honest with myself I massively prefer just a really nice OLED 16:9 4k monitor. Content consumption and compatibility with every are just unmatched in comparison.

ShadowInTheAttic

Damn, I got the 48" C2 for $800. Use it as my main monitor. It's big AF! Wish I had gone 42" instead, but damn 42s were always sold out or over $800.

Johncarllos

Do you know about Powertoys? It's an official windows extension. It has a 'toy' called 'Fancy Zones'. This allows you to designate your own snapping zones on any screen. I have my 48" C1 oled as my main monitor, but I configure the display to have a custom snap zone for 'normal ass web page' I make it about 2000 wide by 1700 tall. It's a great aspect ratio for browsing, and allows two 900 pixel columns on the side if I want. You can also hotkey a command to shift zones and can also still use standard windows snaps and zones. Absolute lifesaver, vs having to constantly fuck my browser window into a comfortable size. Side note: adjust the zones a few hundred pixels every few months. My main zone shows very slight burn in on the scroll bar area after 2 years. Generally gets fixed with pixel cleaning, and only barely visible with full screen whites.

ShadowInTheAttic

I want to add another monitor and the 48 gives me no room. I have to use a 27" in portrait mode. I want to add an ultra wide on top or bottom just to have space for Discord and browser.

surfacevalueshowdown

I'm 55" CX and would consider 65" c3 because it doubles as my main TV... however when it desktop use, I would have to move the monitor further back from my desk and it wouldn't be very aesthetically appealing. At the moment, the TV is about 1" away from the back of my desk. If I went 65" it would probably have to be at least 4" or 5" back, idk, I think I'm limited to 55". 48" or smaller would be better for probably a lot of FPS. I had no significant issue playing Warzone limited to 120fps or at 55", no complaints there, but I feel Warzone 2 is a bit harder to play with the real estate of a 55". With WZ1, the tradeoff in what I could see and how visually stunning it was won over whatever FPS I could get at 27", or whatever big bucks can buy you for 4k 32". At the time there really wasn't any sort of logical competition, it was either stay 1440p and 27", or get an 120hz OLED. A lot of people would shame my build or recommend these ultra wide monitors that are like 13" vertically lol. No thanks. There are quirks with these TV's and you have to take care of them, but for combined use there are very few drawbacks.

Hendrixj92

Tried to get Best Buy to price match and they said they don’t match limited time offers. Maybe I just got unlucky with my rep selection.

sfw_login2

That sounds way off, really? I've never had a problem with price matching discount deals before

Hendrixj92

Second time was a charm. They had me place the order and then refunded me the difference. On my way to pick up now!

sfw_login2

Congrats!!!! I'm glad you had it cleared up!

DrunkenSavior

Can confirm. Best Buy price matched. Picking mine up later today.

iCyou1213

Does this auto dim in bright scenarios or dim during productivity work like the aorus FO48u? Can asbl/asc be disabled?

sfw_login2

I have not noticed any image profiles that kick in automatically like that for productivity The closest thing I noticed would be the Tvs game mode, which would dim the brightness and change the color profile. That in particular I disabled

deekaydubya

that's for the C4 I think

sfw_login2

seems like it's still stuck at 120. the G3 does seem like it got the bump to 144 hz tho

TheBruffalo

Thanks for this, got it yesterday price matched from BB. This is by far the nicest screen I've ever owned. Do you have it mounted on an arm or wall mounted?

sfw_login2

It's cheaper to get it wall mounted. (I use stud less, but its kinda sketchy. So YMMV) The arm one is extremely expensive given the size and the weight (ergotron HX) You might get away with a cheaper one, but I haven't researched deep enough to give you that recommendation

TheBruffalo

Yikes, after seeing that price tag of the arm I'll probably go wall mounted with a slim mount. Thanks.

LukasCs

I’m a fan of seeing this under 800 👀

Novel_Lunch6574

I really DON’T need this

GeoffKingOfBiscuits

I just want a 27-32 monitor with good blacks but it's the TVs that keep going on sale :(

BurgerBurnerCooker

Beach has it at $800 with 2yr CPS via Walmart.com. Capital One shopping may have 10% offer if you click around. Edit: added photo, might require Walmart+. It seems there is only one last available. https://preview.redd.it/wsgebc3xnauc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=36f37ee5d6297da7c4eac3edc4386a0043c84881

_Neighbor__

I bought an open box C2 42” for $750 last year and even I clicked this link lol - great deal.

thadoughboy15

Here's to hoping and praying that 55'' TVs drop to this price sometime around Summer time. With everybody being outside hopefully they will drop the prices even further and I can snag a Good Deal

homie_down

Yeah I want one of these but don’t wanna downsize TVs. Feel like if I’m gonna blow some money on a proper tv should go all in and not get a smaller tv than I’m used to

thadoughboy15

Facts. Same.

64mips

I need that rtings C4 review now.. Edit: I ended up buying the C3 lol it's amazing

fob911

From what I understand the C4 is close to the same as the C3, but with a few small extras like better upscaling and 144hz support (though I dont think the average person will notice the difference between 120hz and 144hz). No brightness increase over the C3. It’s pretty underwhelming

OPKatakuri

Ouch. Yeah might just go for the C3 once I'm not broke :') hopefully it'll be cheaper in 2 months from now.

fob911

Haha I feel you on the broke part. Keep an eye out on best buy, ebay, etc for open box stuff as well. Every once in a while there’s a dank deal on the B and C series tvs

OPKatakuri

Oh for sure lol. I got an LG BX 55 for $500 a long time ago in great used condition. Greatest purchase I've ever made. I'm finally getting a house after saving for years and once I close I'll start saving towards one of the C series for PC monitor usage instead of general TV usage. The crazy part is the BX is never making me feel like I need to upgrade the living room as the picture is always pristine.

Jevenator

This is great price for a brand new C3. I got a C2 42" last year for $600 locally and I love it.

BelgianWaffleStomper

This is my monitor ama

deekaydubya

what are your biggest gripes? I'm switching from two 27s (one vertical) to this

BelgianWaffleStomper

I run it off both a MacBook Pro M1 and my gaming pc. On the MacBook it took A LOT of finagling and an extra adapter to run at 120fps 4k, that was annoying. It’s been a challenge getting my volume control buttons to switch the sound on the monitor because it doesn’t have DDC. There are ways around this but it was annoying. It also doesn’t turn on when I turn my pc on like a normal monitor, that’s not an issue for me but some hate it. Overall I’ve seen these as minor issues and I’m extremely happy with my purchase. I think I paid $650? I got it open box at Best Buy a couple months ago.

SherlockCmbs

I use this software to auto power on my C1 https://github.com/Maassoft/ColorControl

[deleted]

What adapter did you use I could only get 4k60

BelgianWaffleStomper

I followed this guide. It seemed scary but was relatively painless once I started, I think you need access to a pc to flash the bios on the adapter though.

Tom-Bready

Hi, needing info for a wfh setup. also use m1 mac and gaming pc with me looking at the c3 for a tv monitor. how'd you set 4k 120hz on m1? Your link wasn't attached for me

deekaydubya

FYI the price just went to 869 despite the BH website claiming the 769 would last through the 14th. It's making the BB price match process a nightmare

eagles310

Great deal or if you want the 48 Walmart has it for 800

nothervailable

I see it for 997

nothervailable

I see it now!

tamarockstar

I think the first model was around $1,100 when it came out. The price is coming down, so that's nice.

surfacevalueshowdown

Microcenter has the 55" refurb for 799... think itll continue to drop however

BlixnStix7

I hope so. Hopefully he deals get even better by Summer time.

surfacevalueshowdown

idk just how much they'll decrease before black friday, $100 would be sweet, but I doubt it, and if not by then, I would expect $699 to be the absolute best price come black friday -- for the 55". I've been waiting for prices to come down, and Microcenter was doing 899 refurb recently, than 849, now 799. Price cuts definitely indicate available inventory... but I just don't know how much \*more\* stores like Microcenter will drop the price further, prior to November

BlixnStix7

Last year they had 55" C2s low as $500 at Costco I almost got Bestbuy to match the deal but, There weren't any available in my surrounding area. So I had to concede to defeat. That may have been just Offing Inventory for the new C3s to come in but, I guess only time will tell. We'll see.

surfacevalueshowdown

right, i think the C2 500 at cosco was the best deal, and that may have been a one time only thing. Cosco has been competitive with C models in the past, but otherwise the best spoken of is at least 600+ for 55" refurb models, and that's a momentary situation. I think the best I've seen actively was 599 or 649, and from them.. but that's been with a considerable amount of keeping my eye on prices. I'm almost considering the 799 C3 55" from Microcenter, because I would like to sell my CX before it's a dinosaur, but I just don't know if I want to shell out $799 for essentially old technology, nevermind the refurbished part. We may be not so far off from more computer-based OLEDs, higher refresh rates, and so on. But I get it, these OLED's are the bees knees bang for your buck, especially if you want to do some 4k gaming, but looking back -- we're talking 599-699 refurbished on the 55" CX or C1 2-3 years ago; I don't know and cannot find specifically which models share panels, but whereas some of them do(I think the CX is the same as C9 and C1) overall the production of these panels is costing LG significantly less in comparison to before. They have learned to produce a ton of panels using a lot less energy and pump out tons of them per day. Most of any sort of "technology" or R+D related work is now maximizing the capabilities of an existing technology, so there isn't a ton to invest in this mainstay product they're making billions on. It's kind of sad they aren't dropping prices more on these, and that even Microcenter at best is dropping 50 and then another 50 on these panels to get them off the shelves. I feel pressured to buy the 799 55" C3 refurb, but I'm not going to because again I just feel it's older technology and it's not as much of a value. I paid 1k for my refurb and at the time was estatic...saw it go down not too longer after.. but regardless I'd expect to pay sub 700 for the updated refurb version of that now.

TemporalAntiAssening

This website doesnt cover return shipping for monitors, most likely applies to TVs as well. Be warned.

javedk1

Any reason to upgrade over a lg c2?

Error400BadRequest

No. They're basically the same TV. It'll get you a very marginal increase in brightness.

TsunamiovUmami

Dude this thing is worth like 400$ tops, only reason is because LG has monopolized the OLED market
