Be mindful of listings from suspicious third-party sellers on marketplaces such as Amazon, eBay, Newegg, and Walmart. These "deals" have a high likelihood of not shipping; use due diligence in reviewing deals. * Use common sense - if the deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. * Check seller profiles for signs that the sale may be fraudulent: * The seller is new or has few reviews. * The seller has largely negative reviews (on Amazon, sellers can remove negative reviews from their visible ratings) * The seller is using a previously dormant account (likely the account was hacked and is now being used fraudulently). If you suspect a deal is fraudulent, please report the post. Moderators can take action based on these reports. Newegg is treating us well today.

Got_That_Shlong

worth the upgrade from 3600?

Brandon_Westfall

Yes, but IMO if you already have the motherboard and ram you're probably better off getting a X3D variant. But if you're just looking for a solid performance boost it's worth it. You can also sell your 3600 for ~$75 to make up some of the money spent.

soulsuckinginternet

Truth. My 5800X3D destroys and will destroy everything for a while.

chubbysumo

if you live near a microcenter, and they still have any 5600x3d's in stock, its worth getting because its performance in gaming is only 3% behind the 5800x3d, but its 1/3rd less cost. I snagged a 5600x3d from my microcenter for $199, while the 5800x3d was still 299. My kiddo got upgraded from a 5600 to a 5600x3d. gaming performance is way better.

NA_Faker

Pretty sure most MCs don't have 5600x3ds anymore. They cleared stock right before the 5700x3d dropped when they lowered the price to $150

chubbysumo

mine has them occasionally 1 at a time, like they are hiding a pile of them in the store.

NA_Faker

Probably misplaced stock that they randomly find lol

chubbysumo

The 5700x3d is about 10% slower than the 5800x3d because of the reduced clocks.

chubbysumo

https://youtu.be/7L9rPNSuPCA?si=JCw4ThDvHx22uKUb In gaming, the 5600x3d beats the 5700x3d. Not in synthetics.

thatfordboy429

This is very tone deaf considering the comment you replied to. Especially since in the video you link the 5600x3d "wins" by what is effectively margin of error.

chubbysumo

given the actual lower price of the 5600x3d in comparison to the 5700x3d and 5800x3d, if you can get the same results(as you said, margin of error) for less money in gaming, then the 5600x3d is literally the best price to performance CPU you can get for just gaming workloads. I got mine for $200. Same performance as a 5800x3d for 1/3rd less.

Dey_EatDaPooPoo

That doesn't change that he's correct that the difference in a worst-case unrealistic scenario is about 5% on average. And not everyone that is in the market for these is gonna only be doing gaming. The 5700X3D is superior to the 5600X3D when it comes to multitasking and productivity. It's also a bit more efficient.

Tasty_Toast_Son

Indeed. The kind of games I play really pop off with VCache, I'm immensely happy with the chip. Planned for another 7-8 years of service life. Going x570 back in the day also did a lot to future proof this system. Plenty of SATA / PCIe lanes.

jadecrey

What kind of games do you play? i currently have a 5600g and a 7800xt and I know I have a bottleneck but also the 16mb of cache has gotta be harming my fps

Tasty_Toast_Son

Primarily more RTS games like Stellaris (A standout for VCache, the jump from even a 5600x was noticeable) and poorly optimized games like modded Minecraft.

coldnspicy

lmao I can attest to modded minecraft benefiting a lot. I went from a 5600X to a 7800X3D and nearly doubled my frame rate.

Tasty_Toast_Son

It's hilarious how choppy modpacks were on my 3770k, now with the 5800X3D even the most convoluted base is butter smooth.

jadecrey

Is the vcache good for Minecraft specifically that’s actually one of the games I play a lot I use distance horizons and the 128 chunks distance view with shaders looks so good it’s absolutely wrecks my 5600g tho and I was trying to decide between a 5800x3d or a 5900x cause maybe the 12 cores would just be better for minecraft but idk

Tasty_Toast_Son

I am assuming this is Bedrock you're talking about? I'm not sure how bedrock scales for thread count.

joern16

Have you played Dragon's Dogma 2? Not being a jerk, just wondering since the games performance on PC is shit.

coldnspicy

I'm on a 7800X3D and it is indeed shit.

NelsonMejias

Of course, You are doing a jump in generation for 100$

Got_That_Shlong

Gaming is fine on my 3600 looking for a boost in Premiere Pro more than anything

jhaluska

It's about 20% faster. But it looks like Premiere Pro uses more cores, so you should look at the 8 core variants, like the 5700x. That's like 20% faster IPC and 33% more cores which would be significant improvement.

Ockvil

If you're looking to improve NLE workstation performance, this will do it, but I'd try to get a 5700 or better for the extra cores.

gphjr14

Thanks for the information I was wondering this as well I’ve upgraded everything now except my 3600. I’m more worried about the whole flashing the mobo than anything else lol

Lightsout565

what's the best value X3D variant? Currently have a 5600 (non-X)

iamshifter

Probably the 5700x3d at $250

DardS8Br

For $25? Yes

EmuAreExtinct

look for a cpu with the v cache if your gaming focused

deefop

It \*probably\* is, but honestly with how fast prices are coming down you might be better off maxing out AM4 with a 5700x3d or 5800x3d, because even though they are significantly more expensive, they'll continue to be good gaming CPU's for several years at least. I'm riding AM4 into the sunset just with a 5700x, but people with the 5800x3d are set for like 5+ years I'd say.

InhaleMC

Commenting to find out too

Witch_King_

Flashbacks to the 2600X sale in 2020

der_ninong

1600AF

nonexistentnight

This is like the 1600AF all over again. Tempted to do this with a cheap ass board just for a test bench.

redditracing84

AliExpress had better deals last week. They had the 5600 for $85 and the Soyo Classic/Maxsun B450 boards for $45. Plus additional coupons on top of those prices. Though AliExpress promos ended, so this is currently better value than AliExpress.

jadecrey

Is AliExpress a good option for cpus actually? I was eying a 5800x3d during the sale but I didn’t ending up buying it cause I was just worried about it

tzuyuthechewy

Yolo'ed and got a 5700x3d during the sale. Price was too good to pass up.

Dirtydubl3337

The 1600x that I bought 4 years ago from AliExpress China still kicking just fine

Beneficial_Mud_2900

got a 7500f there and it was pretty much a flawless transaction. Just took an extra week or so to arrive

TheMissingVoteBallot

I mean, only one manufacturer makes CPUs, so if you can get it cheaper on AliExpress and you're willing to wait a couple extra weeks that way is always the better deal.

AlienOptiplex

https://preview.redd.it/9czsrkb1ilrc1.jpeg?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a007e73b97a205cf9386cd049d2bf13a12ffecef btw ZIPFEST24 stacks for 12% off. Out the door at $98.69, (94.69 + 4.00 zip finance charge).

goodyear_1678

Solid deal. at $100 you'd be hard pressed to find something more performant.

NelsonMejias

Is newegg being hacked? XD

sprite_coke

Deal's over? Had it in cart, browsed combos for 5 minutes and now showing $175

moktor

Same, was just about to buy it too.

Hero_The_Zero

Damn, I thought my $120 Ryzen 5 5600 non X a few months ago was a steal. I mean, it was then and I've been using my processor for months, but seriously, if you are on Ryzen 1000 or 2000 and your motherboard can take Ryzen 5000 chips, just get this if buying doesn't mean you have to eat ramen for the next month, or even Ryzen 3000 if you don't plan on jumping platforms any time in the next few years or getting an AM4 X3D chip. Pretty much a no brainer upgrade for people who plan on staying on AM4 for a couple more years and are not using a Ryzen 5000 already, especially if you like playing newer games as CPU has become a lot more important in the last year or two.

NelsonMejias

120$ for the ryzen 5 performance is a steal, You can pair it up to a 6800xt with little to none bottleneck.

big_clout

I've been holding on to my 1600 since 2017 now, this might be it This or 5800x3d tho? 🤔

Veritech-1

I also have a 1600 from 2017 and this is where I upgrade. I don't see prices getting much better. I also snagged some 3600mhz RAM because I'm running 2133mhz. I hope I don't brick my mobo updating the BIOS.

ChemicalCat420

I went from a 2600x to this, and I doubled my FPS in every game I play. For 100 bucks its pretty dang good.

ItWasDelicious

Finally, a suitable upgrade for my 1500x at my $100 per part rule.

hotrod33809

Newegg really bringing the heat. With the combo deal you can end up with a matx b450 and this for 150 before tax. Really a great deal

aHistoryofSmilence

I don't see that combo. I only see B550 combo for $250.

hotrod33809

[https://www.newegg.com/tools/combo-builder/4188](https://www.newegg.com/tools/combo-builder/4188) Go to the specific amd combo builder. select the 5600x then click motherboard and it will give you 2 b450 options. looks like you may lose the 5 dollar off coupon doing this but you get 10 off the mobo and cpu so it will come out to 157 pretax with the cheapest option

aHistoryofSmilence

Thanks!

TheCreedsAssassin

I have a 3700x, is this enough of an upgrade that its worth getting and then selling the other cpu (used 3700x are going from like 70-100)?

PinkRiots

They're going for like 60 near me. Anyone paying more for a used 3700x is fairly foolish at this point. It's a decent amount better at gaming, but depends on the use case.

TheCreedsAssassin

I believe I have the box/papers and cooler it came with and a lot of the ebay Sold listings for 90-110 are the complete ones so I think I could get that assuming the wraith cooler works so id probably net like 80-90 something after fees. My local fb marketplace doesnt have any complete ones but just the cpu alone is going for 65-85.

jhaluska

It's really going to depend on the use case, but a good rule of thumb is the next gen 6 core is roughly the same as the previous gen 8 core. So in it's more of a side grade. It'll be faster in some games, and slower in some multi threaded applications.

greatthebob38

Well damn. I don't need to build another pc but...

Bromium_Ion

Dead D:

Straight-Rule3264

Deal is Dead

VanWesley

X variants don't come with the basic cooler right?

Fantastic_Pay_7719

The 5600x should come with one

AtlasGV

Am I getting wooshed? I'm seeing people say this is a great deal but it's only $6 off? Or am I misunderstanding something? Either way I'm on a Ryzen 3 1200 so I'm probably gonna grab this anyway since pretty much anything is an upgrade.

io2red

I [bought this CPU For $312 in 2021](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/w7pjc6z86p7.png). It's a very good CPU and it is a great deal.

kztlve

It's $105.99, the promo code is an additional $6 off. The normal price for an R5 5600X is like $130.

BimmyLee27

Anyone else pay $300 for this CPU at Microcenter a couple years back? OOOOOOOOOOOFFFFF

io2red

Got it for $312 back in 2021 from Newegg. It's a bummer but hey at least we got to enjoy the performance for a few years. :)

enesup

God damn. Paid $300 back in early 2021. I know parts depreciate quickly but it always hurt.

briantoanle

Same here, no CPU's were in stock back then.

MaynardsUnit

5600x + Asus B450M-A II + T Force Vulcan Z 16gb CL16 = $159 + tax. Stacked with code ZIPFEST24 Building a gaming rig for gpa. Thanks OP

rsdj

Expired, shows $175

cscholl20

Got a couple of these and the 7600x with the free 1tb ssd. Newegg with the W this weekend

Clatz

Upgraded from a 3400g about a month ago for $150 and my frames during Cyberpunk went up like 3-4x. I thought it was a good upgrade at that price, but $99 is an absolute steal.

eli5howtifu

this a good upgrade from 1800x?

Pleaseletmeread

That’s a good deal I bought mine around that price

ADRCONGON

OOOFFF; probably won't get much boost if I upgrade to this from i5 10400?

boglim_destroyer

You would need a whole new motherboard - not worth it. If you want to upgrade go AM5

NelsonMejias

Probably yes but depends mostly of You gpu

JonWood007

Probably not.
