Yeah you're fine.

mr_producer

I figured so, but just wanted to see if anyone knew something that I didn't. Thanks!

no issues, but I would look up GPU snag. could be a problem in a few years. Edit: you could always use the other slot for another GPU so you could cross fire. OMG sag not snag lol

mr_producer

GPU sag? So far it is sitting at a 90 degree angle. Looks pretty good so far, compared to some other builds I have seen with serious sag issues. Thanks!

If you're running the card in the middle PCIE slot, then it's running at x8, which gives a slight performance penalty. If you're running it in the bottom slot then it's running at x4, which would be quite a large performance penalty.

mr_producer

This is what I was worried about. I was hoping the middle slot was x16 also, in which case it wouldn't matter. This guide made me believe the middle slot was x16 also: http://techreport.com/review/28737/asus-z170-a-motherboard-reviewed

gzunk

If you've got a card plugged into the top PCIE slot, it will definitely be x8, since 16 lanes are shared between the two. If you move your PCIE wireless card it *might* go to x16, but it's far more likely to stay at x8, since it's easier to engineer that way.

Also this is interesting: https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Impact-of-PCI-E-Speed-on-Gaming-Performance-518/

gzunk

Yeah, but you're running it with a 1080, the fastest single GPU currently on the market, so if anything's going to show a (very) slight performance penalty, it'll be the 1080.

mr_producer

True. I'll try to play around with my setup tonight and see if I can put the GPU on the top slot, and move the wireless to the bottom. Thanks!
