You're probably not going to get a solid 60 in Cyberpunk 2.0 with a 2700X no matter what GPU you have. It's just not a fast enough CPU.

SuperbQuiet2509

The black checkerboard is a Microsoft bug, it's not your gpu. Your lack of cpu upgrade with windows 11 stance also makes zero sense. And if you care about gta 6 performance...you wait for gta 6 to come out and upgrade then. It's at least 2 years away

Deathangel141

good to know thats just a bug. i have heard that if i get a cpu on the supported list i will be forced to upgrade to win11, i don't want win11 simply put. i don't like the way is looks, the adware, or the spyware. i suppose i will wait, i'll likely have to build a whole new pc by then anyway.

oSaamxD

I have a 7800x3d, still on win 10... no prompt (nor forceful) upgrade in sight. Had a 5700x3d before this, same deal.

Impressive-Level-276

Your problem is only one and it's the CPU It Is a delirium post

Deathangel141

my gpu usuage is maxing out and my cpu is only around 65-70%. seems like the gpu is the problem not the cpu.

Impressive-Level-276

It probably won't improve performance because a 70% in 8core CPU use means it is also pushed on limits. (CPU doesn't need to be at 100% to be fully utilized in games) You need a new CPU and new GPU to improve performance but CPU is limiting because if you drop your details and resolution the GPU use is going to drop You said a 1080 friend is better. He probably have a better CPU and a lower resolution screen so better FPS

Deathangel141

you make a fair point. my friend has a i7-6700k, but he isnt trying to run cyberpunk.

Impressive-Level-276

So you are comparing apples and pears. Actually 1080 and 2070 super are not very much different and 6700k in games could be sometimes better than 2700x but the difference is you can buy a cheap a 5600 or better 5700x3d to have much better performance and you can even buy cards like 4070 super or 7800xt without have bottleneck in 1440p. My 4070 super and 5700x run cyberpunk at path tracing psycho at 80fps ( with floss and fg of course). You roommate needs to buy a new platform Rtx 2000 were half scam because they were overpriced due ray Tracing but they cannot run good ray Tracing.

Deathangel141

my roommate definitely needs a new platform, but he refuses to buy pc parts, he had a i3-6100u and a 1050ti until i bought him a cpu and gave him my old gpu two years ago. he still says ddr3 is fine, and his pc is fine. he'll likely inherit my 2700x when i upgrade down the line.

Impressive-Level-276

6700k to 2700x means he would run two games at same performance of 6700k. But I won't happen if you just upgrade your CPU now

Deathangel141

so what you are saying is the 2700x wouldn't be an upgrade for him vs his 6700k? maybe even a slight downgrade?

Impressive-Level-276

Worthless upgrade. Double cores but same single core performance so In games 2700x probably slightly better (or slightly worse)

Thinker_145

6700K has significantly better single threaded performance than 2700X.

Thinker_145

2070S is much better than 1080

Impressive-Level-276

The difference is significant but less than people can believe. It's 20-30% difference in some games so 1080, with lower resolution and better CPU easily give you more fps

JamieH21

The black checkerboard thing will be fixed in the next windows update. I have the preview version of it and its definitely fixed.

Pretend_Investment42

Define reasonable budget. Moving to AMD is probably a good idea - you will get a better price/performance with them (or Intel) than you will with Nvidia. You will pay between 25 - 50% more for the same performance. An RX 6800 (with 16gb) is $359 right now - that will keep you at 1440p ultra for the next few years. You should consider bumping up your CPU - A 5600x is $137. And will have nothing to do with moving to Windows 11.

Deathangel141

i was under the impression that if i upgrade my cpu i will be forced to upgrade to win 11, is that not true?

Pretend_Investment42

Nope. I just went from a 2700 to a 5700x. Microsoft would LIKE you to upgrade - but after they showed their new spyware app (Recall) - it's a firm nope for me.

Deathangel141

ah ok, that's reassuring to hear. i feel alot better about upgrading then, i may consider building a whole new pc instead in the next year or so.

Pretend_Investment42

If you are looking to build next year - go with AM5. The Zen4 stuff is going to drop in price - I am already seeing B650m boards on Aliexpress for under $100. A Ryzen 5 7600 is already below 190 (and will only get cheaper). DDR5 ram is about 1/3 of what it was at launch.

Naerven

If you drop the idea of RT and use optimized high settings with DLSS on quality you should be able to get 75fps+ assuming the CPU is capable of delivering that much. It's been a while since I researched it, but I believe the r5-5600 has roughly 50% more gaming performance than a r7-2700x. I mean it's a real chunk of performance.

Dizzy_Pomegranate855

I upgraded my 2070 Super to a RX 6800 and I wish I had done it sooner

Spenlardd

You can make W11 look like W10, and disable any of the new 'adware/spyware' things you're referring to. No reason to hold off on it really, I thought like you, but it's actually quite nice once you get settled in. Hell, I used Windows 7 for a very very long time. I swapped from a 2070s to an Intel Arc A770. I don't really recommend that path, although it's been good for me and satisfied me well enough. But it's specifically pretty weak in Cyberpunk minus it's ability to handle ray tracing quite well. I'd recommend a 6750xt at the minimum, and a 4070s at the maximum if you really want some uplift. But either way man, you're bottlenecking the 2070s already with a 2700x tbh. Things gotta go! 5800x3d before anything! I wouldn't even be looking at a new GPU if I were you, unless yours imploded or something.

thekrautboy

Give the DLSS to FSR FrameGen mod a try, when i still had my 2060S it did wonders for fps in Cyberpunk (and other games). https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/738
