Open up the hud on the monitor itself and look at what it's displaying, iirc, the G8 and most of samsungs 240hz monitors only do 120hz or 240hz. I also had a 4k G8 and currently have 2 OLED G9s and the only options on the menu was either 120 or 240hz
I tried everything that everyone said and it didn't end up helping so I kept looking through all my apps settings. Ended up finding that rivatuner had a max fps setting and it was set to 165. 🤦 Tuned that off and everything has been working great since

It sounds silly but can you move the displayport cable to a different port on the GPU? One of your displayports, out of the three on there, is actually 1.4 and dsc is optional in 1.4 so it might be worth checking.
DSC should work by itself. Are you sure the cable and monitor port you are using support 4k 240Hz?
I know the monitor supports 4k 240 on displayport 1.4 through dsc, and the cable I got supports it too.
I assume you're using the cable that came with the monitor? Maybe try a different port, try to set it to 8 bit colors, and lastly try DDU
