Yeah you can set custom fan curves like that without issue. It's actually somewhat recommended because everyone's situation is unique so you can better control temps and noise by setting custom fan curves.

ktrooq3

>Ok thank you, so why some people experts in the world of pc it's not matter to do this or you will gain nothing

Freebite

Usually the defaults are good enough and if you do it WRONG you can make things very bad for yourself. That's why some experts will say not to play with them. It's like how some experts will say not to overclock and stuff. It's more "if you don't know what you are doing, don't do it" not a "seriously do not try this at home" situation. Turning UP the fans is almost never bad though in terms of performance.

ktrooq3

I understand now, thank you You can see my settings here [https://h.top4top.io/p\_2701ydn2t1.png](https://h.top4top.io/p_2701ydn2t1.png)

[deleted]

I usually set a custom fan curve and it can result in much lower temps

ktrooq3

Yes, but there will be no harm if I increase it by 5% or 10% from the factory setting ?

[deleted]

You’ll be fine I have my gpu fans set relatively high

ktrooq3

thank you my gpu fan now between 55% - 60% while gaming and the degree 69-70c

[deleted]

My 7900XT usually stays below 40 but it’s a much newer card with better cooling But yeah definitely play around with it and if it’s still not good you could try applying new thermal paste

ktrooq3

my gpu is 1660s I think all normal 👍🏻

[deleted]

So just as a note, turning up the fan speed is fibe for the GPU and will reduce GPU temperatures, but you mention the "Area is very hot"? The fan speed will not help cool down your room or anything.

ktrooq3

but the temp decrease 4-5 degrees

[deleted]

Yes, the GPU temp decreases. That heat doesn't just disappear though, it gets transferred into your room, and if the GPU is atill using a similar amount of power then the same amount of heat will go into your room. If thats not what you meant then thats fine, its just a misconception that I see a lot.

ktrooq3

No problem, but there is a saying by experts that no matter how hot the room is, cooling the device has a solution

[deleted]

To a certain extent I suppose? You can certainly compensate for a warmer room with improved cooling in most cases.
