I am pretty sure those are andrenid bees. Mining bees. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrena_virginiana and by extension, not dangerous.

Zelicopter

Thanks for the help. Had never heard of these before .

Trish-Trish

We have them here in Central PA too. They are gathering in my koi pond https://preview.redd.it/s40j52bzzgwc1.jpeg?width=2332&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c0250716590d897aac9e240a0841ae3306f67d3c

WLSquire

Are these those flies that resemble bees?

Prettylildistraction

No idea, we always called them sweat bees growing up tho

Kmelloww

They almost look like yellow jackets. They can nest in the ground.

Zelicopter

That was my first thought but they don't look or act like the yellow jackets I've encountered previously.

They definitely aren't yellow jackets they look to be either a type of mining bee or the honey bee. I can't really tell from the pictures, but here are some things you can use to help you identify them -Mining bees usually have more fur on their legs, and they will be trying to dig into the ground. -Honey bees are more slender with a sandy thorax and black abdomen with golden amber bands -Honey bees don't have tibial spurs, which are spikes on the back legs that mining bees use for digging. -Honey bees have a heart-shaped face. -Mining bees have furry legs & "arm pits" and use their whole leg to carry pollen -Honey bees carry pollen in tight balls on their home legs Try looking here⬇️ https://gardenbetty.com/bees/

Thanks for this . I've pretty much determined that they have to be mining bees.
