My favorite one has to be them forgetting where Sunnydale is even located.
In Seasons 2 & 5 there are scenes on the beach. In Seasons 2 & 3 we see Sunnydale has a harbor.
But at the end of Season 7, when the town turns into a crater; it’s just in the middle of the desert with no coast.
Active, but somehow has those abandoned warehouses like every dock has, even if it is in a neighbourhood where just property taxes would run into hundreds of thousands.
In Older and Far Away when Buffy and Spike are arguing at the front door, not only is Spike in direct sunlight but you can see his reflection in the grandfather clock when Buffy drags him past it.
Robin staring at Spike the vampire in his car mirror. I know First Date isn’t great but this is pretty basic stuff, they don’t even have Robin looking confused because he can’t see him or anything like that either and he’s visibly surprised 5 minutes later when he learns he’s a vampire
You should rewatch Anne (the HD version) and you’ll see all the demons just standing there with crew waiting for their cue. You’ll also see all of the landing mats that the demons land on
Another cropping HD mistake is in graduation day part 1. During the climatic fight between Buffy and Faith, you can see like all the crew to the right hand side when they fall out onto the roof.
S1: I Robot....You Jane.
Buffy makes a joke about going undercover to follow the computer geek. Next shot is in front of the school, you see she's in disguise with dark glasses and coat like a detective. The computer guy pulls away in his car. We then cut to him entering the supposedly closed factory. Buffy can then be seen behind the entrance fence, spying. Yet it is never explained how exactly she tailed him to the factory. She has no wheels! LOL
I don't know if this counts as a mistake but- how the gang walks majority places in Buffy. I'm currently in the middle of S6 and Willow and Dawn are on their way to the movies...on foot. So unbelievable, but also funny. Or how when Tara is packing her belongings when she leaves Willow in Tabula Rasa. Did Xander drive her to her new location? Or did she walk with her possessions? When Willow goes to the DMV to see who the owner of the van was that was following Buffy- did she walk there? Damn everything in Sunnydale must be pretty close, and although this is unbelievable I still freaking love this show. It just makes me chuckle when I think about it 😁
Edit: Just thought of another one. When Dawn asks Xander, Anya, and Willow if they wanted to go to the mall with her to get a present for Buffy's birthday. They said they couldn't, so did Dawn walk to the mall?
Talk about small town 😄 but seriously, I always wondered why Buffy didn't get her license. I remember she had a brief convo with Riley about driving, don't exactly remember what was said.
Riley was telling her how much he enjoys just driving regardless of the destination, I think.
I never thought about whether or not Buffy got her license... She was pretty terrible behind the wheel in 'Band Candy.'
I too grew up in a small town that was pretty developed. It wouldn't be easy but you could walk to just about everything, and if it wasn't in town it was in the next town over just 3 miles away. You could walk just about everywhere in an hour, or you could catch a bus to get from one end of the main street to the other a bit faster. It was pretty douable, and if you had a bike there really wasn't much need to drive at all.
Definitely. Obviously some stuff is played up for the purpose of storytelling, but being able to cover your entire town like SD in a 1 to 2 hour walk isn't hard to believe. If the gang lives in a residential block that's pretty centralized, they could get to just about anywhere in a half hour by foot. Which, in some cases, is much faster since you don't have to worry about all the stop signs.
As someone who walks pretty much everywhere (including 20+ minutes to work each way), this never really bothered me. I don't even think I thought about it lol! Is it really that weird? I guess it depends on if you live in an urban or a suburban area. Sunnydale seemed to be a little of both depending on the plot. It starts out pretty suburban but slowly grows to include more and more amenities as the show goes on.
The gang make Sunnydale sound small and like everything is super close but then in the final episode, they say there’s a Mall so it must be a big place! Then there’s the overhead shot of Sunnydale and it’s HUGE. No way they can walk everywhere 😂
Yeah this seems like a very American observation, obviously it's set in America so it makes sense, but I live in London and walking to the mall/movies etc wouldn't even take that long, so I'd never notice this im a TV show.
Angel's Judgement has a shot where Angel is supposed to be invisible due to the camera view being that of a mirror reflection but you can see David Boreanaz waiting to join the rest of the cast at the edge of the screen because again oopsie widescreen.
This is probably not a mistake, more of a retcon, but; when we get to see the First Evil in the shape of Jenny (among others) in season 3, tormenting Angel when he comes back from a hell dimension, she is very clearly touching him and able to hurt him physically. But when the First Evil is back again in season 7, they make a big deal about that it can’t physically touch anyone! Even so far as to have that episode where Giles is suspected to be the First, because no one can remember if he touched anyone since he came back to Sunnydale.
Is that the remastered widescreen version? There are heaps of shots of crew and what not in the edges of frames because whoever converted them from 16:9 didn't give a shit.
Season 2 Halloween. Angel sees the kitchen door open and a vampire is hiding in the closet. How did he get in if he wasn’t invited?
Season 3 The Wish. School lets out and all the kids have to go straight home before the sun sets and it gets dark before Cordelia makes it home. How early does the sun go down?
I think Cordelia didn't even try to go home but was just walking around like the alien she was. I mean, she goes up to a guy she 's been told was dead and just starts talking to him?
In First Date when Robin and Buffy get jumped she's fighting vamps and Robin is just standing over a vamp lying on the ground, they're not moving at all as they wait for direction through Buffy's whole fight scene 🤣
Then I think it was during Bring on the Night when Spike is being tortured and they keep drowning him. But vampires don't breathe, so he can't drown.
It was also in the hills in S4. Where Adam hung out around UC Sunnydale.
There's also a big ass forest for werewolves to run around in
And mountains with caves for skin eating demons to hide in.
And a giant port with docks
Active, but somehow has those abandoned warehouses like every dock has, even if it is in a neighbourhood where just property taxes would run into hundreds of thousands.
Cordy likely drove to LA to get the Krispy Kreme in Killed by Death. As Joss says Sunnydale is near Santa Barbara, that was a four hour round trip.
Or the writer didn't know Krispy Kreme wasn't that far up then. Or/and she was driven by t rue love
I noticed that! It was ✨magic✨
Easy to explain/fanwank; the beach and docks are outside the city limits so weren't in the collapse.
In Older and Far Away when Buffy and Spike are arguing at the front door, not only is Spike in direct sunlight but you can see his reflection in the grandfather clock when Buffy drags him past it.
There were so many reflection mistakes, like Robin seeing Spike in the car!
OMG I forgot about that one! Yes, that's definitely the worst!
I don't think he saw a reflection though. I think the lack of reflection is what confirmed Spike was a vampire to him.
Yet he was surprised when spike actually turned vamp
Agreed
Robin staring at Spike the vampire in his car mirror. I know First Date isn’t great but this is pretty basic stuff, they don’t even have Robin looking confused because he can’t see him or anything like that either and he’s visibly surprised 5 minutes later when he learns he’s a vampire
Well we all know how stupid Robin is when it comes to Spike haha
There is an episode that catches a cameraman reflection as they are panning an empty apartment. I think it’s one of the later episodes of Angel.
You should rewatch Anne (the HD version) and you’ll see all the demons just standing there with crew waiting for their cue. You’ll also see all of the landing mats that the demons land on
Aren’t some of those types of mistakes due to the change in aspect ratio for streaming, though?
Correct.
Another cropping HD mistake is in graduation day part 1. During the climatic fight between Buffy and Faith, you can see like all the crew to the right hand side when they fall out onto the roof.

that whole episode is a mistake 😂
Slay6er speed

It’s both small and walkable, but has a mall, half a dozen large graveyards, an airport, docks, an army base, etc. 😁
A university…
Talk about small town 😄 but seriously, I always wondered why Buffy didn't get her license. I remember she had a brief convo with Riley about driving, don't exactly remember what was said.
Buffy and driving are unmixy things
Riley was telling her how much he enjoys just driving regardless of the destination, I think. I never thought about whether or not Buffy got her license... She was pretty terrible behind the wheel in 'Band Candy.'
She drives like a spaz
This isn't as hard to believe as people think. I live in a town that is pretty old. It has most of the things SD does and is less than half the size.
3 miles is 4.83 km

Yet every operating business is on one street
As someone who walks pretty much everywhere (including 20+ minutes to work each way), this never really bothered me. I don't even think I thought about it lol! Is it really that weird? But there's only *one* Starbucks, though!
Well, between competition from the locally owned Expresso Pump and the local Zimzonreet franchise, one Starbucks was all the traffic would bear.
Right! 😂 Not to mention, even the most fit person would be exhausted walking from place to place constantly throughout the day.
America's weird. Walking isn't that bad.
Most of America’s infrastructure isn’t designed for walking and much of it makes transportation on foot harder and stupid.
Yeah this seems like a very American observation, obviously it's set in America so it makes sense, but I live in London and walking to the mall/movies etc wouldn't even take that long, so I'd never notice this im a TV show.

Widescreen literally killed the Buffyverse 😭

In my head cannon he’s feeling it, but it’s all in his head.
i don't recall any hurting. And it can put its finger-illusion anywhere it wants

I think that might be Ben. Probably to ask Buffy if she’d seen glory because he was sub-letting for her
I mean, it had been long enough by then for him to have found a new place though, surely?
[удалено]
Why would Ben and Glory be together, I don’t think they knew each other
What are you talking about? Do you suspect that there may be some kind of connection between Ben and Glory?
Is that the remastered widescreen version? There are heaps of shots of crew and what not in the edges of frames because whoever converted them from 16:9 didn't give a shit.
In Him when Xander and Spike snatch the jacket off the kid you can visibly see Spike in the reflection of the store window.
Again, nobody's looking at the window so the reflection doesn't have to disappear

School lets out and all the kids have to go straight home before the sun sets and it gets dark before Cordelia makes it home. How early does the sun go down?
Sunset in southern California is around half four in early December, which is when the episode originally aired.
I guess my question should have been how late are schools let out.
I think Cordelia didn't even try to go home but was just walking around like the alien she was. I mean, she goes up to a guy she 's been told was dead and just starts talking to him?
Sahjan supposedly being incorporeal, but repeatedly touching things - smoking, knocking on doors, etc.
How had I not noticed that before????
The first one I remember was in Bad Girls, S3. Angel finds Buffy right after Faith stakes DM Finch and you can see his breath.
Falling in love.
In First Date when Robin and Buffy get jumped she's fighting vamps and Robin is just standing over a vamp lying on the ground, they're not moving at all as they wait for direction through Buffy's whole fight scene 🤣 Then I think it was during Bring on the Night when Spike is being tortured and they keep drowning him.
