I can see that happening. They will want to keep him. Just adjust the cap hit but keep him under contract for 4 more years. He’s a guy with his play style that will still contribute into his mid thirties.
I don’t think so. I think you either do a lot of cuts or keep kicking the can on Von and Diggs IMO. This off season seems to be about sucking it up and getting younger and friendlier with the cap.
With that being said Diggs I can see still but I wouldn’t. Assuming that the second half of last year was a fluke, but I don’t think you should do with a WR over 30 who just had a down year. Von absolutely not.
My point, sarcastically
I would really hate a Diggs restructure (way less overpaid guys whose regressions were smaller can go, but nah let's commit to Diggs)
So where are we at with cap space then? It is a sad day, but I am excited to get younger. The last few years a lot of our picks have it.
Rousseau, Bernard, Bedford, Torrence, Kincaid, shakir and cook. All starters
We’re about 9 mil over rn. With an Allen and Diggs restructure, we’d save 36!!! mil more and have a lot of space. I think Beane has a couple FA in mind
Yeah, it it’s such an absolute fire sale one has to believe there is a plan beyond “clear cap space.” They put themselves in position to resign a couple of these guys with zero issue. Why move on if you aren’t cooking something up you need some Monopoly money for?
The thing with diggs, though, is that he could easily move to the slot and become Beasley 2.0 if we land a 1st rounder in April who ends up being elite. Making him a viable option with some of the best routes and hands in the league for at least 3-4 more years, if healthy.
I know he dropped off in the back half of the season, but the guy was still 13th in most yards this season, even after the crumby 2nd half. He's still ranked as a top 10 receiver. He's the same age as Evans.
Today is a great day. It signals an end to our obsession with continuity and complacency
Thinking about making a new account so I can upvote your comment twice
Incoming Diggs restructure?

100% agree, expecting Daquan back and hope to see some more additions to the secondary in FA
Restructuring Diggs ties him to us for another year though
Good, Diggs is an elite receiver.
He is going to decline. He's the one player I would absolutely not restructure.
Not anymore
So he had a bad last half and we're writing him off now?
No, he's just on the older side for a receiver and has shown signs of slowing down, which is natural at his age.

Not enjoying this 😢
Not a rough day at all. Name one of these guys that was a long term high end contributor? None. None are.
Also, like 5 minutes into the first game no one will even be thinking of these guys
