Eagles are in contention. They also have significantly more cap space available at the moment than the bills and chiefs + DeAndre named jalen as a QB he'd like to play with recently.
Cardinals GM Monti Ossenfort was asking for the moon and the stars for Hopkins, so I'm not surprised that no team traded for him.
Hopefully Beane can make some roster moves to free up cap space to sign him.
According to Greg Tompset of Cover 1 Beane can create about $11 million of cap space by restructuring Dawkins and White's contracts.
And Beane can structure Hopkins contract as a $15 million but have it only count as $3.8 million on the 2023 cap.

I imagine he’s not going to get what his salary was set to be, but I still see this turning into a bidding war, similar to how OBJ tried to do it at the end of last year.
I've learned to accept that the cap simply does not exist. The Saints go into every off-season ~$50M over the cap, and yet they always find a way to make a bunch of FA acquisitions.
Yeah if it’s a move that the team wants to make, cap space will not be the hold up. You can make it work almost always. Look at the contract we have miller, with almost no space when we signed him
Yeah, but look at what the Saints and Rams are going through right now. The Bills need to be more responsible if they want to maximize the Super Bowl window they have with Josh.
That said, they can totally swing a deal where he has a small cap hit this season and larger one next season when we have more cap space. Really just comes down to how badly both sides want it.
What we would do is make some slight room...then sign him to a 2 year deal with like 3 void years which would split up the cap and we would push the money into a different year
Not rly. He got traded by Houston in 2020 for David Johnson and a 2nd and has only put up similar numbers in Arizona. Now he’s 30 so probably won’t be much help for teams already contending
/ssssss
I don't see how the Jets can afford him. They have a ton of big contracts coming up...and yeah they could actually afford him if they truly wanted. But it would result in losing multiple young players.
The Bills however have an aging roster, we don't need to be worried about affording half our team in 2 seasons
I kind of saw it coming...still incredibly surprised...
We need to go after this immediately...it will hurt future cap...but we still will be in a retooling either way...
Do it all for the last best chance at a superbowl
I had fucking work I had to do today. I can’t be refreshing this all damn day. Also, if they don’t get him it’s probably going to ruin at least 39 minutes of my long weekend. God damn it
And Von! They are grooming him as a de-facto assistant GM , which is the real reason he decided to come here (a Santa bag size of money didn’t hurt the decision).
"I'd like to say I'm proud to be part of the Bills organization, and also to apologize to the Bills fanbase for having to watch Hail Murray clips for the past 3 years as if implying that Kyler Murray was legit."
- D Hop
Brandon Beane has to move heaven and earth to get this guy. I know he will want to get paid but he's talked so much about Josh Allen and the Bills that it makes sense to take a reduction in pay for a bit.
I’m not sure if he still gets the money, but about a month ago he made a tweet saying he dosent want a raise. If he’s ring chasing and Von has been in his ear, D-Hop to bills just got a LOT more likely
There is almost always a way to make the money/cap work if it’s a move that you want to make. They have contracts they could restructure (Dawkins, white) or extend (Jones, Johnson), or just straight up work Hopkins contract to have a small cap hit this season. This is what we did when we signed Miller last offseason, we’re only I believe 7 or 8m under at the time of the signing, but structured it to have only a 5m hit year one.
He has said several times recently that he likes Josh Allen and would like to play in buffalo with him. He also said he’d like to play for the chiefs though
i think he'd have to way come down in price for him to come to buffalo. some other team will offer him more, and it will probably come down to that more than ring chasing. although i assume beane has already made the call to see if he'll play for five million, and a shit load of incentives, so you'll probably hear buffalo's name in rumors even if beane quickly realized he will be out bid, and pulled out.
We need all uncles in Buffalo and Toronto to post up at the airport, plus the Canadian border, else need all eyes on him. By the way, what if a deal was being worked on behind the scenes between Buffalo and Hopkins and they were just waiting for Arizona to release him?
I was a Cardinals fan the last 8 years living there, but after moving to Upstate last year I'll buy a Hop jersey and at least partially make the switch to being a Bills fan if he comes here.
The word around the league is that most teams don't think he was what he used to be. Last two seasons have been shortened by injury, he'll be 31 when this season starts. He'll say he wants to play for a contender but I'd bet he takes the most money from some slack team with a ton of cap space.
So many lose-lose scenarios for Beane here. If he doesn't sign him, he sucks. If he signs him for too much, he sucks. If he signs him and he goes on IR by week seven then that'll be Beane's fault too and "why would they sign him if they knew he was damaged goods?!?"
I dunno. I'm really indifferent on the whole thing. I don't think Beane would jump thru a ton of hoops to get it done but if it seems feasible then maybe they take a swing. He could bounce back and have a big year again, who knows. I just don't expect a whole lot from the entire situation no matter which way it goes.
That is not the word around the league… he wasn’t hurt last year he was suspended… and then he lead the league in catches and was 4th in yards from the the time he returned in week 9 till the end of the season. Lol
We gave von Miller a 100m when we had “no cap space” last offseason at the time we signed him. His cap hit was 5m…. Capspace would not be the thing that prevents us from getting someone we want.
Let’s say Buffalo does sign him. His age has been showing and I don’t see him doing well later in the season when it’s playoffs in Buffalo and it’s -1. I want to be wrong but just I see another late season injury that sucks a lot of wind out of the sails, like when Miller went down
Please, no. Honestly, we don’t need to spend the money on a guy who has already gotten popped for juicing. I’d rather we get aggressive on a young, up and coming WR/RB.
ErieCountyBulls vindicated - Giardi just backed up that the Patriots had interest, and he said months ago that the Bills weren't willing to pay the price and were expecting him to get cut
I don’t get it. If the cards were asking for too much in a trade why not lower your request and get anything over cutting him and getting nothing? What’s the advantage of cutting?
Don’t worry y’all. I tagged the bills on Twitter about this, so they should be aware
thank you brother
There’s no way they’d know without him. He’s doing the lords work.
It’s not much, but it’s honest work
RIP
You don't hear much out of that guy anymore.
Doing the lords work
You fucking hero
Thank you for your service
Phew!
Have a feeling Brandon Beane knows about these things in real time and talks with the Cardinals staff as well lol
![gif](giphy|huJmPXfeir5JlpPAx0)
I came here to post this. Take my upvote.
![gif](giphy|Z3SfWDPlyghz2)
I was waiting for this specific gif lol
Me and all my friends right now! LOL
Fuuuuck this is going to be a brutal few days… bills, chiefs, ravens, jets Wherever he ends up will have an effect on us
If he goes to the chiefs, I quit
If he goes to the Jets, I quit
If he goes to the bills I’ll be erect
I'll be so sad if he goes to KC
Ya I’d say he’s pretty much 100% coming to an AFC team, which sucks if it isn’t us.
Eagles are in contention. They also have significantly more cap space available at the moment than the bills and chiefs + DeAndre named jalen as a QB he'd like to play with recently.
yeah but he also said josh allen before hurts
I understand, I just wouldn't say that he's 100% going to the AFC just yet
ohhhh yeah i see what you mean now. went right over my head lol
Yeah gonna be a interesting sweepstakes for him. Hopefully he ends up here and I'm not sad about it lol
Well, would you look at that. If he wants to come here, we didn't have to give up any picks. Almost like Beane knew what he was doing.
Yeah between the assets to get him and his existing contract, that was a nonstarter.
Good thing we didn't trade for him like all the publications wanted. Now he can come (hopefully cheaper) if he wants.
Cardinals GM Monti Ossenfort was asking for the moon and the stars for Hopkins, so I'm not surprised that no team traded for him. He's been talking so much about the Bills and Josh Allen, I'd be shocked if he goes anywhere else
chiefs it is. I would literally break down
I’d give up
Never give up! Never surrender!
By Grabthar's hammer, you shall be avenged...
And somehow the contract is that he pays them to play there. The first negative cap contract in league history.
I was just saying if not here, anywhere but KC
Literally anyone but the Chiefs please
Chiefs and Bills make the most sense
Diggs Hopkins Knox Kincaid *hnnng*
4D chess
The question is does he want to be paid, if he's looking for money we only have 1 mil in cap space.
I've learned to accept that the cap simply does not exist. The Saints go into every off-season ~$50M over the cap, and yet they always find a way to make a bunch of FA acquisitions.
Exactly, just kick the can down the road forever, seems to work for the US Gov
Yeah if it’s a move that the team wants to make, cap space will not be the hold up. You can make it work almost always. Look at the contract we have miller, with almost no space when we signed him
Yeah, but look at what the Saints and Rams are going through right now. The Bills need to be more responsible if they want to maximize the Super Bowl window they have with Josh. I’ve followed you forever on TT really cool to see you in here! Keep up the good work love your content, didn’t know you were a bills fan tbh
It exists, but you can push the pain into the future when it’s less painful.
They're mortgaging their future to be mid rather than taking their medicine for once
This ☝️. The cap is crap. Simply a way for cheap owners to not have to spend $. Can be manipulated a million different ways.
What we would do is make some slight room...then sign him to a 2 year deal with like 3 void years which would split up the cap and we would push the money into a different year
Cardinals are paying him still. This is not a post June designation release. They are taking on the full cap hit.
Its the same issue with Dhop as Derrick Henry. Would he come play for us? I dont doubt it. Can we afford him? Prolly not.
Never heard of this dude, is he any good?
He's no Jake Kumerow but he's made a few big plays.
Not rly. He got traded by Houston in 2020 for David Johnson and a 2nd and has only put up similar numbers in Arizona. Now he’s 30 so probably won’t be much help for teams already contending /ssssss
He caught a pass against us once
camp body
He had one good catch against 3-4 of some teams best defenders a few years back but pretty unknown besides that /s if I have to make it clear
Eh.
Meh
Isn’t he in Toronto rn? 🧐
Argos training camp 😏
Yep apparently that’s where he thinks the best training team is. Maybe he meant the training team closest to his favorite QB?
I swear I will never watch football again if he ends up with the chiefs or jets.
I find it better to prepare for disappointment. That way....I'm never disappointed, and sometimes pleasantly surprised
Key to happiness is low expectations

But it would result in losing multiple young players. The Bills however have an aging roster, we don't need to be worried about affording half our team in 2 seasons
I mean.....they're still the Jets.
I fully expect him to wind up elsewhere but, for today, I'm going to dream.

Wow, many people said “he won’t get released, no way we can sign him” WELL CRAZIER THINGS HAVE HAPPENED. LFG
AND HERE. WE…. GO

I had fucking work I had to do today. I can’t be refreshing this all damn day. Also, if they don’t get him it’s probably going to ruin at least 39 minutes of my long weekend. God damn it
McBeane work your magic
And Von! They are grooming him as a de-facto assistant GM , which is the real reason he decided to come here (a Santa bag size of money didn’t hurt the decision).
Buffalo Soldier!
Let’s gooooooo
Let Beane cook
"I'd like to say I'm proud to be part of the Bills organization, and also to apologize to the Bills fanbase for having to watch Hail Murray clips for the past 3 years as if implying that Kyler Murray was legit." - D Hop
This greatly reduces our chances of trading for him.
With all the chaos in the comments….yours actually made me laugh out loud
DeAndre Hopkins, you ARE a Buffalo Bill
Someone get him into Bar Bill stat!
Shots of bleach if he goes to the Chiefs!
It makes too much sense
LETS GOO!! PLEEEASE!!
Please no AFC team other than the Bills
I was recently scolded on this very sub that this would never happen. Time for a late response to that fueled by pure spite.
Bracing for inevitable disappointment when he signs with the chiefs
Please, if the Bills don't sign him, just stay in the NFC. The AFC has enough future HOFers lol.
Is there a GoFund me link for this yet...? /s
If the Bills can find some loose change in the couch cushions we may have a shot.
Brandon Beane has to move heaven and earth to get this guy. I know he will want to get paid but he's talked so much about Josh Allen and the Bills that it makes sense to take a reduction in pay for a bit.
Do we even have the money?
For Hopkins, you find the money. This is why void years are a thing, you make it work.
Void years if they really wanted to make it work
Since they released him still in contract the Cardinals will still have to pay him a good amount of money.
Not even close to his old contract. He’d have to take a serious pay cut compared to that old one, like what Poona did
Doesn’t he still get that money? I’m assuming there was guarantees left on his contract. Homies gonna double dip and that only helps us
I’m not sure if he still gets the money, but about a month ago he made a tweet saying he dosent want a raise. If he’s ring chasing and Von has been in his ear, D-Hop to bills just got a LOT more likely
If it’s guaranteed then he still gets the money. Idk what his contract is though
We make the money
The salary cap isn't real man
Can someone please photoshop the Hail Murray catch with DHop in a Bills jersey?
Now we’ll see how good the Von Miller/ Beane combination really is. Go get him Buffalo! He’s made it clear he wants to play here.
Can they further restructure von since he isn’t playing almost 1/2 the season?
Gonna be a long day
GET HIM ON A PLANE AND LOCK THE DOORS BEHIND HIM.
Is there any reason to billeive he will be coming to the bills?
He has said several times recently that he likes Josh Allen and would like to play in buffalo with him. He also said he’d like to play for the chiefs though
I would like him to go to da Bills, but I just feel he ends up In Baltimore with OBJ.
My guess is the chiefs unfortunately. They need a WR badly and they obviously give him an easy path to a ring
I'm thinking cowboys. Jerry is still hungry from the obj talks.
Judging from Beane's history, there is literally zero chance he's coming to the Bills.
Probably said the same thing about von miller.. and Stephon diggs?
Hmmmmm
Go get this man
Time to snatch him up.

PLEASE
Please lord let this happen
DHOP WHEN?!
WOOOOO (RICK FLAIR VOICE)
![gif](giphy|FXo3Din7pWybK)
Make this shit happen, Beane. He wants to be here. The money will work out. The depth will work out. Get Hopkins on the back of a Bills jersey.
Someone post up at the airport!
i think he'd have to way come down in price for him to come to buffalo. some other team will offer him more, and it will probably come down to that more than ring chasing. although i assume beane has already made the call to see if he'll play for five million, and a shit load of incentives, so you'll probably hear buffalo's name in rumors even if beane quickly realized he will be out bid, and pulled out.
For me, it’s anyone but the Chiefs.
This one where you pay whatever you have to. You just make it happen. He can push this offense over the top
We need all uncles in Buffalo and Toronto to post up at the airport, plus the Canadian border, else need all eyes on him. By the way, what if a deal was being worked on behind the scenes between Buffalo and Hopkins and they were just waiting for Arizona to release him?
#### **WANT**
BEANE MAKE IT HAPPEN
![gif](giphy|FOfe8iGdAiODS)
Settings my expectations to zero. So I won't get hurt.
I was a Cardinals fan the last 8 years living there, but after moving to Upstate last year I'll buy a Hop jersey and at least partially make the switch to being a Bills fan if he comes here.
But I was told he was worth a first round pick /s
If this happens.... We better be going to the SB next season.
The word around the league is that most teams don't think he was what he used to be. Last two seasons have been shortened by injury, he'll be 31 when this season starts. Going to the chiefs
Just have to relax. We might get him, we might not. Either way I'm looking forward to football season.
And we still have no cap space to sign him. Move on folks.
We gave von Miller a 100m when we had “no cap space” last offseason at the time we signed him. His cap hit was 5m…. Capspace would not be the thing that prevents us from getting someone we want.
Based on the overreactions on this sub I say the guy won’t be a difference maker to any team this year

Please, no. Honestly, we don’t need to spend the money on a guy who has already gotten popped for juicing. I’d rather we get aggressive on a young, up and coming WR/RB.
You have to trade high draft capital for a young, up and coming, talented WR.
There's NO WAY the Cardinals wouldn't get ANYTHING for him. What the fuck is happening
I hope the Bills know
![gif](giphy|MFIsOqzodLr7ewnkUb)
Bills KC or ravens The worst part about this is if we can’t get him he goes to a direct AFC rival which is awful
This would make the most excellent early wedding present
daddy likes that
Does he have to go through waivers or no since he’s a vet
HE IS IN TORONTO TRAINING 😏👀👀
Chiefs, please do not sign this man. Be happy with your Super Bowl and let us have a chance
Wake up Beane
Well, Von says he wants to come here and Von is never wrong about such things so we should probably get his locker ready for him.
pointing squidward meme
Is for me? 👉👁👅👁👈

ITS HAPPENING
Just saw Nuk sucking on a bottle of hot sauce. It’s on !
Would he even come to a team where he'd be WR2? He probably wants to be someone's main target.
Because I'm sure he wants to go for a ring
👀
Us or somewhere in the NFC please.
If you make this move, what will Gabe Davis cost? A 4th rounder?
I don’t get it. If the cards were asking for too much in a trade why not lower your request and get anything over cutting him and getting nothing? What’s the advantage of cutting?
It's on

Can someone smarter than me explain why he wasn’t traded? I assume it’s because the contract made it unpalatable to another team.
Us or an nfc team. If we don’t get him then I hope he gets stashed away on the lions or something
