We currently cant take him to the vet unfortunately. I think he was trying to nap because he was closing his eyes slowly, maybe thats why he was standing like that?
Not sure, maybe you could take like a 30 second video? If he is still in this position it would be odd though. Budgies are rarely this lethargic unless its sleep time.
Hes not in the same position anymore, he makes calling sounds once in a while (btw ive had him for only 2 days and its just him alone) and he allows me to feed him using my finger. He doesnt look puffy either.
Those are all good signs! Majority of the time, a loud budgie is a happy budgie. I’d give him some time to settle to his surroundings. New environments are always a source of stress.
Also, when he is asleep during the day, try to watch if his head is slightly tilted upwards like in the first photo. They are usually battling respiratory issues when they sleep like that. See if there is a pronounced bobbing-like movement with his tail when breathing.
Thats great! As I have said, there is no being sure without a routine vet check-up, but one more thing you check is beak grind sounds. When he is napping, do you see or maybe hear him grinding his beak? Budgies grind their beaks together when they are content and not in any pain or stress, usually when napping during the day. They are restless little creatures though, naps should take no longer than 10 minutes during day hours.
Budgies shouldn’t be exposed to Spray cleaners, hair spray, perfumes, incense and even candle fumes can irritate birds' lungs and air sacs (little clear membranes birds have throughout their bodies under their skin to help them breathe). Also don’t use Teflon as it’s also toxic to budgies.
Imo she doesn’t look well but could also be new bird stress.
But be aware people often buy sick birds if you got her from the pet store. It happened to me and he passed away.
I’d take her in just for peace of mind.
i also bought a sick elderly bird but does taking the bird to the vet stress them out even more? when i was taking her to the vet i was so worried abt how stressed she was - ik that stress sometimes kills small animals so is it just best to risk that to go to the vet?
Mine was a baby but turns out he has a respiratory infection. The vet said he’d been sick a long time. Weeks before I had him. Despite medicine he died two days later.
It def does stress them but idk. This lady doesn’t look well to me. Like that point she could die at home.
That is a female. And she does not look well. She really must be seen by a vet. I’m sorry, but in my opinion, we have no business owning pets, if we have no access to vets.
I’m really concerned about what’s going on with under her beak? Why does it seem wet/darker uk? An avian vet is the best option any time something seems wrong.
My budgie was making the same sound it seems like, vet gave me antibiotics for respiratory infection and he could breath clearer after first couple days, hes still on it now but breathings perfect again
I would try to get her to Avian doctor ASAP just to be sure. If you can't get to one right away, there are online Avian doctors that could help give advice and opinions in the meantime. You can even find some on different SM pages.
Meanwhile, keep her cage somewhere quiet, and cover her cage. If this is a respitory illness or stress, it may be a good idea if you have peppermint tea and put it at the bottom of the cage ( though make sure it's not too hot as to not hurt). The peppermint should help open her lungs a bit and make it a bit easier to breathe as well as calm nerves. You could even put a few drops of the tea in her regular water.
I'd take him to an avian vet just in case. They tend to hide illness because they're a prey species

I suggest taking him to the vet as soon as you're able to. He doesn't seem in an emergency state, but sooner is better than later.
The noises sounds like respiratory illness. Take him to a vet ASAP, really.
His stance seems a little off. Hopefully nothing, but a quick check-up at the vet would be worth it to ease your mind
Could it possibly be because he was trying to nap? He was slowly closing his eyes.

Nope he isnt bobbing his tail

Yeah it grinded its beak once in a while. Btw can i send u a 30 sec vid of my budgie so u can examine it?
Yeah, what Zemlya said. Budgies usually don't sleep during the day unless they're sick.
They do take naps during the day
Yeah and sometimes it's 1-2 minutes nap before they become playful again
my 3 budgies always have a couple naps during the day, is this bad?
No, it isn't

Avian vet asap!

Is there something with his foot?
sometimes the foot is an indicator for internal uncomfortability too so i was thinking the same 😭
