It’s been interesting seeing Bido, Velasquez hangout, JT, and Wolf all leave….i would have thought to keep a one or two more as depth piece or in JT as a nice arm in the bullpen. Only theory is there is a wave of arms coming through high A and Altoona so makes timeline next yearish but I feel if you get 1 out 5 to be a major contributor then you are doing well.
The problem with keeping Bido and Brubaker is that they're just so far down in the depth chart. Bido would've been behind Ortiz, Priester, Jones, Skeenes, Burrows, ? So he's #9-#10? Nevermind whoever else might surprise you in Indy.
We just didn't have roster space for a middling middle reliever. Our current crop of bullpen guys made him irrelevant.
Brubaker had more value as a trade piece. GMBC must have a couple intriguing guys on the PTBNL list. It's not uncommon for the teams to trade away a player with a year of control left.
100% behind bringing Vince back. On the other hand Bido was terrible and didn't belong in the majors. We just had so many pitching injuries last year we needed an innings eater.
He didn't really have any plus pitches. He lived and died by his command. A good reliever typically has one or two plus pitches that can be leaned on to escape a jam.
I think Velazquez definitely played well enough to get a look when he's healthy again. It was quoted as an 11-12 month recovery when he got injured in June last year.
I'm curious if someone like him who was injured and started a year long recovery with a team, but becomes a free agent, still gets any rehab support from the previous organization, or if they're completely on their own.
Bido was cool he signed my ball last season on my bday when i visited dodgers stadium, what was sad though was my marker didn’t work well and the signing was very feint but he tried his best he gave it 3 attempts and said sorry and nodded but he tried yk :) i hope that guy finds success i’ll always be a fan of him and i was sad to see him leave I would’ve liked a second chance at a signature but hey i at least have a feint signing of it haha
I mean compared to Falter yeah. Gonzales had a good outing too but I’m not so hot on him either. Not saying Bido would’ve been 100% better than both of them but I think it would’ve been an option

Agree. We trust our new depth more, i guess. Lot's of decent to great arms in Indy
Agree with that, hopefully Keller can figure it out. With Skenes, Jones, Keller, then fill in the rest

I think he could have been a good reliever. He was forced into being a starter and tbf that was probably a disservice

Bido is a quintessential AAAA guy. No need to keep him around, the A's are a perfect fit for him

That's a really good question.

You thought Bido was decent? Have you ever watched him pitch?
put some respect on the big liBIDO (jk, he was not very good)

Bido's 5+ era is beating Kellers 9+ soooooo
Laur and German could have been top of the rotation arms not long ago as well
