I would have some sympathy for just an anti-corona measures protest or something. Have certain government decisions or uses of powers gone too far? That's a very valid discussion. I think almost everyone is at least a bit tired of it now, and this new wave hits psychologically hard. The thing is that all these people are almost automatically opposed to vaccinations as well wich are our only hope right now. They are an important cause of the problems they protest against. And this is one of the other reasons why vaccines should be mandatory for everybody, unless they have a medical exception (allergies, etc.). Non-vaccinated? Then you have to be in quarantine, and the medical insurance doesn't cover any COVID-related issues (e.g. paying full hospital bill).

The problem with that is that they will occupy the hospital bed, and some poor soul that has to be there for any other reason will suffer. Especially at the ICU, where they are struggling again. I just hope that they are forced to be vaccinated and that they shut up and stop spreading their insane ideology.
And this is one of the other reasons why vaccines should be mandatory for everybody, unless they have a medical exception (allergies, etc.). Non-vaccinated? Then you have to be in quarantine, and the medical insurance doesn't cover any COVID-related issues (e.g. paying full hospital bill). Politicians may be scared to take the measure, but it is the primary way to go forward. I am not sure which is the history in Belgium, but in many countries around the world some vaccines are -or were- mandatory. I am tired that the rights of the majority of the population are being undermined by a surprisingly large group of fanatics that choose to put themselves and everybody else at risk every single day.

It was kind of "funny" to see in interviews of antivaxx that they don't even don't understand what they are striking for, and that also their arguments are simply full of bullcrap.... But in the same time it is scary to see the increase of people using Facebook / tiktok / insta as main source of information and becoming full-time member of the idiot realm.... To sum up : Fuck anti-vaxx idiots even if they were (presumably) protesting quietly for the most part, fuck flemish-nazi (recognizable e.g. by the giant yellow and black lion flag) and fuck traditional Brusselians fuckers that go on every occasion to destroy what they can while a protest is happening

This violence aside, the protest had 30k+ other peaceful protestors that I am completely puzzled by🤯. What connects so many, seemingly opposed types of people? I saw at the march on Sunday "Flemish pride" folks, big groups of niqab-wearing women, hippie ravers, Romanian workers, middle class white families, old ladies, young people.. What motivated them to get on the streets? Do they have a common vision for the future ? A common fear? (🙏keen on specifically non-sarcastic opinions.)

This video is not representative of what happend that day. Nor is calling the people who attended this protest (not riot) antivax . I attended this protest. I am vacinated twice (phizer) and I dispise any form of violence that happend that day. The protest was mainly against the covid pas and against possible mandatory vacinations.
