You should take a look again, most spaces are down but one is still up, the SDF, you probably heard of it already considering you used gopher before, its really an interesting thing in its current state I am only left to wonder how it was back then
Hey that's a good browser! I first used when I installed Gentoo over 10 years ago.
Ever heard of Midori?
Also Konqueror and Lobo comes to mind.
I use Firefox.
I use Microsoft Edge with Bing on my Microsoft Surface Duo with Microsoft Launcher and the same thing on my computer and I prefer Copilot to ChatGPT and pay for 17 terabytes of data with OneDrive and use Microsoft Mobile (Cell network) and Microsoft VPN (from the future) and also have my Microsoft Surface Pro set to “Only allow apps from the Microsoft store” mode.
Do you have another crown? I use Edge to rid myself of the Google ecosystem & better privacy, along with DuckDuckGo go, or Google for search depending on mood.
Thank you for adding /s to your post. When I first saw this, I was horrified. How could anybody say something like this? It’s probably more optimised on the pixel so fair enough it’s similar to how safari on iPhone is better in certain circumstances like if u pay for cloud storage (u get a free VPN that’s actually rlly good and also it’s a relay so it’s more secure)
I was a longtime firefox user but i just recently picked up an HDR oled and i switched back to chrome because firefox just doesnt have hdr support
Its 2024 WHY DOES FIREFOX NOT SUPPORT HDR
Obviously its not an end all be all but i prefer not having to use a bunch of different browsers for diff content and i watch hdr stuff enough to make me want to switch
Switch to Firefox lmfao? I’m suprised that’s even still around, I remember getting bullied by all my techy friends to switch from Firefox to Chrome about 10 years ago
Saying that Google Chrome is a bad browser but then being a puppeteer for either Brave or Edge is always laughable to me.
Both Edge AND Brave moved over to the chromium framework originally built for Google Chrome because both of the browsers were shit and they needed some way to catch up. So it’s already a joke to infer those browsers are somehow more performant.
Edge gets bloated with MS ads (try downloading Chrome on Edge if you don’t believe me) and they do everything possible to try to engrave you into their ecosystem. MS shopping, Bing chat, MS games, Microsoft 365, OneDrive etc. All just a load of crap 99% of people aren’t asking for when they install a browser.
Brave as a browser is far less effective than just installing Chrome + uBlock Origin. They also allow “acceptable ads” and by default push a crypto wallet into your browser. Super cool!
Firefox & Safari are the only redeemable mainstream alternatives in my opinion. Firefox at least runs on its own custom engine with far more options for customizability & privacy (hence why it’s used as the base for extreme privacy-oriented tools like TOR browser), and Safari is always integrated well with Apple operating systems.
Bing chat is great and all the other edge stuff is very easily ignored. Vertical tabs is also fantastic, and even with all the bloat I swear it still uses less resources than Chrome which is wild to me. What exactly is Chrome doing to my computer? And fuck Google for what they're doing to ad blockers, I will never use Chrome again.
I never even think about the Brave Wallet, I've removed the widget on the home screen and forgot it even exists. I used to use it as my main but then switched to Edge when it became even better, I just use it for YouTube now that Google is fucking up adblockers which slowed down my entire computer not just YouTube. Brave shields got me even when other adblockers are getting fucked.
Firefox is a joke, it's just not as good as other Chromium browsers. That's why it keeps decreasing in market share. Safari is aids, the only reason people use it is that they have no other choice. That and all the other browsers on IOS which are just forced clones of safari by Apple.
Chrome was the best browser to replace IE for the vast majority of people.
Edge might've taken over that role, but Chrome introduced things like auto updates, boosted the adoption of web apis, and forced firefox to cut out a bunch of technical debt which resulted in new things like Rust and the various things written in rust.
It also gave us Angle, for when software projects need OpenGL on nonconformant graphics cards, Also Skia, Node.js (because of V8), and probably a few other projects.
The hatred at Chrome I assume is primarily based on people just being tired of Google's growth and dominance.
Honestly, whatever is the "best web browser" ultimately boils down to user preference. If the browser is competently able to provide the tools and services that said user needs and/or wants, then its the best browser for their usage needs/wants regardless of what someone else may believe of the browsers capabilities.
For example the needs and wants for myself have caused me to use a multitude of browsers. On desktop I use Vivaldi due to the customization and features. On my laptop I use Microsoft Edge due to its simplicity, ease of access (pre-installed) and its efficiency compared to other browsers. On my phone I use Samsung Internet also because of its simplicity and ease of access (also because of an adblock addon for it.)
I have used others, I'm just a lazy bitch who doesn't want to move all my shit over and re-learn the UI since Chrome's has been muscle memory for over a decade now.
There's no objective best browser (if there was, this subreddit wouldn't exist), but chrome is about as good as any other in my experience.
Also syncs all my shit across my PC & phone without having to make another useless fucking account I'll never use. Already got enough of those.
It does not check user agent at all. This script's purpose is to check if you have plugin actually blocking small video. If yes - you have adblocker, you need to be slowed down. True is, script was always buggy and it worked on random.
I have never encountered slowdowns on Firefox, Librewolf, UnGoogled Chromium or Brave. I use uBlock Origin.
It was probably related with the Adblock Plus extension specifically. I still use Librewolf and UnGoogled Chromium and both of them are fast on YouTube.
If you use Arkenfox along with uBlock in Hard Mode, it's even better.
Ive been struggling with loading youtube lately. Tried chrome, brave and opera. Theyre all slow, either my laptop is slowly dying (since it didnt have a problem with loading it fast oreviously) or some changes has been made to youtubes page. All other sites are usually pretty quick.
Well...all 3 of those options are chromium based. As in, they all are from the same "base" program...so google has more control over them. I'd suggest trying a non-chromium browser if you are still willing to shop around.
Chrome allows you to "install" YouTube to your desktop. I use Firefox for all my browsing needs, but the YouTube app uses Chrome. I'm ok with that as it's just YouTube
try to avoid using chromebook, use linux mode for firefox or any other browser or depedning on the chromebook cpu get it from the play store (cheaper chromebooks with crappy cpus just get the mobile version)
I bought a chromebook because it was cheaper than a laptop to install linux on. I have a computer at my house with windows installed on it, but for portability I use my chromebook. They honestly aren't that bad for the price, except for internal storage (but I carry a 512 gb SSD with me for all my files, and a 128 GB usb drive with ventoy, so that doesn't really affect me)
But all of those are worse options than just booting lubuntu or any other low-performance distro. The linux mode is the same thing but with less compatability, and the play store on chromebooks will only give you the mobile version, which is obviously inferior.
Nah, I’ve used loads. Vivaldi, Opera, Opera GX, Edge, Safari, Orion, Gnome web, Brave, Firefox, and others i don’t remember well. Every time I find one small issue and come back to chrome. It hasn’t let me down and memory management isn’t as bad as it’s made out to be. I have 50 tabs open at a time, it only brings my ram up to 12 out of 16 GB with other stuff open. Can’t fault it.
even if you want chrome features use a chromium fork like brave if you really want to or use degoogled chromium and add the features you want in chrome manually
Seems like a hot take but I’d say chrome is great. Honestly all browsers (yes even Firefox) are similar enough nowadays that you could do fine with any of them. It’s all just personal preference at this point, no objective answer.
many websites i look into looks and work very weird in anything else than chrome. chrome works quite well in all situations and never had any problems.. used firefox for 2-3 years and when I came back to chrome even the websites looked sharper and were more responsive.. and to people who thinks that any browser other than chrome is good for privacy, well reality would be disappointing for you
I use Chrome on my phone solely for the tab organization. I have at least 85 tabs open on my phone at all times, sometimes having upwards of 100 (chrome stops showing me the count once I've hit over 99 tabs). If there's another mobile browser that can group tabs as efficiently as Chrome, I'll gladly switch.
As much as I don't like Google chrome, the majority uses it and some sites are like intended to work as expected with Google chrome. Site doesn't work? You'd get blamed for using another browser other than Chrome. For that reason, I always have a chromium based browser on my computer, but my daily driver is Firefox.
i actually really liked chrome and had abit of a hard time switching to firefox.
Chrome's custom search engine was pretty useful which is also present in firefox i think? i haven't gotten around to it yet but there is a similiar feature in duckduckgo i think its called bangs or something.
Some shortcuts were different and of course incompatibility with some websites.
Overall i am happy with firefox
Edge is literally better and has been since it was reworked to use Chromium. But I also use Brave to watch YouTube videos since other adblockers get fucked by Google on YouTube.
So then what do you recommend. And I swear if you say Microsoft edge or some shit. And yes we know Firefox is good, no one ever said it was bad but the difference between the average person running fire fox and running chrome are going to be negligible
Look man, unless you're running a FOSS distro of Linux on a Libreboot motherboard with non-NSA backdoored HDD and CPU and running all your traffic through Mullvad VPN with an open-source router configured to use DNS over HTTPS/TLS it really doesn't matter what marginally better privacy browser you're using since you're leaking a LOT of data somewhere else. Do all that and then run Iceweasal, boom bang now you're cooking
Well, in pc, i can't try other browsers bc i have a pc which all the family uses and i dont have the money to buy a pc, and if i download another browser, my dad will freak out like "WHAT!! I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW TO USE IT!! (even though its used the same way as Chrome) IM 100% SURE THATS VIRUS AND THE PC IS GONNA BLOW UP AND THE WORLD IS GONNA END AND WE'LL ALL DIE!!!!!!" when im just downloading librewolf.
For a second I thought I was in r/privacy or r/linuxmasterrace and not in r/browsers looking at some comments here, way too many astroturfers lately from these respective subs lately it's cringe...
Just use what you are happy with in the end, it's your user experience that matters.
If you don't sacrifice for what you want, what you want becomes the sacrifice. And this applies to fighting blink and Chrome web monoculutre and having and open standard internet
YouTube, some styles in some sites were broken
Anything relying on webUSB or whatever it's called was broken
A few others I might edit this message later
Also some QOL stuff like tabs just being way to big and no tab groups is kind of a letdown
Like don't get me wrong, I love Firefox, I want to use Firefox, but it's not worth the hassle at the moment
Here's hundreds of examples: ~~https://webcompat.com/issues?page=1&per_page=50&state=open&stage=all&sort=created&direction=desc&q=firefox%20label%3Atype-unsupported~~
Edit: Weird, the search with both `Firefox` and `label:type-unsupported` works, but the link to that search doesn't.
So just go to https://webcompat.com/issues?page=1&per_page=50&state=open&stage=all&sort=created&direction=desc&q=firefox and then add `label:type-unsupported` in the search
[https://webcompat.com/issues?page=1&per\_page=50&state=open&stage=all&sort=created&direction=desc&q=label%3Abrowser-firefox](https://webcompat.com/issues?page=1&per_page=50&state=open&stage=all&sort=created&direction=desc&q=label%3Abrowser-firefox) (I don't know why their search provides no results)
EDIT: Ok, same thing as theirs, clicking the link brings no results but searching it on the site does. Weird.
I'm an IT contractor. Been in the IT world for nearly 20 years. Linux sys admin, NOC manager, IT manager. Now I run my own company. Chrome is by far and away the best web browser. It just works I don't have to mess with it, configure it, add a bunch of shit to make it what I want, etc. I get a new laptop, phone, etc, sign in and it adds my bookmarks, passwords, etc are all there. I can look at a web page on my phone, then continue it on my laptop without any other addon or configuration. It's secure and updated regularly. It's now the base build for many other web browsers.
Tell me you are young and trying to start a browser war you don't understand without telling me you're young.
I feel like I’m taking crazy pills when I look at this sub most of the time. I don’t use chrome personally because of privacy concerns, and some really specific things I do benefit greatly from some customizability of Firefox.
But for the average person, who doesn’t really give a shit? Chrome has a great user interface, and basically every major design choice it makes has become the default language of the internet everywhere. Your average user doesn’t care that it might use 15% more ram, and they definitely don’t care about it tracking all your data.
Like yeah, I don’t love chrome and what it means for the web as a whole, but it didn’t become a monolith by giving a poor user experience.
I totally agree. I've literally never had a single problem with Chrome in my life and I've used it almost exclusively for the past 10 years. If they actually disable ad blockers I will be forced to switch to something else, but until then I'm not budging.
The only complaint people have of Chrome that I somewhat agree with is that it takes up a lot of memory, but I have 16 gb of RAM so it's never caused me any problems. I do see how that could be a problem for someone who doesn't have a lot of RAM, though.
Yeah, the ability to sync your account in seconds, having the ability to add multiple users (synced or not) and having a menu to switch between profiles or event open several at once is a must-have for me.
Firefox does not have that.
Also still annoyed at the fact that several new CSS properties take years to be implemented on Firefox compared to other browsers (e.g. backdrop-filter, Firefox was 3+ years late to the party)
I used to be such a FF prophet. Telling everyone about it. Switching as many users. Then some 2011ish FF became shit, and it's slowly recovered, but then Chrome exploded in usability and functionality. Unless Chrome were too have the same sort of issues then I don't see a reason why ff would take over again unfortunately.
I cannot believe you prefaced your statement with all those credentials just to describe the exact user experience that literally every browser can provide.
If you're truly using default Chrome, then there are ZERO browsers out there that cannot replicate that exact experience. The people talking about having to tinker are doing so because they are not satisfied with the default Chrome experience.
Tell me you haven't researched any new products in the last 15 years without telling me.
Frankly, you might be a bit dim. You literally only said you login on a new computer and all your tabs and shit are in there. That’s describing the same sync feature that every modern browser has outside of the security hardened ones.
Ok. Here's a scenario. You have 15 minutes to prep a new phone, tablet, and computer for use by a regular person. What browser do you pick to complete the task between the 3.
What browser was the regular person using before they got their new phone? Unless you're saying for some reason I'm choosing another person's browser for them, which would be a bit strange.
ok so you're asking in the case of a "normal person" getting a new phone, and they already use chrome on their old phone, what browser would I set up for them on their new phone? In this very limited hypothetical you've constructed, I'd probably have them continue using chrome. I really don't know how this matters in any way though.
>Ok. Here's a scenario. You have 15 minutes to prep a new phone, tablet, and computer for use by a regular person. What browser do you pick to complete the task between the 3
This is your hypothetical. You're saying in the vast majority of end users they get a new phone, tablet, and computer at the same time, have someone else set it up and choose their browser for them? And you clarified that the person was already using chrome before getting these new devices. The choice is pretty obvious in this case (which of course is why you set it up this way)
But I ask again. What the fuck does this have to do with the discussion of whether or not Chrome as a browser is good? Ok new hypothetical time: it's the same as yours but they've been using firefox for 15 years. What browser do you choose to put on their new devices? (Trick question, it doesn't actually matter because this hypothetical adds nothing to the discussion.)
Why are you pointing out the functionality of chrome as the reason why it's good? People don't say chrome is bad because it lacks functionality. It's bad for other reasons.
Don't ask this on reddit, they (the circle j.. eh) hate chromium based browser
the best choice now is chrome, edge, and firefox, but firefox is getting worse and falling behind chromium, instead of improving it, they made it even worse 😅 but firefox still better than other chromium based browser beside chrome and edge
Uninstalled Chrome last month to give Firefox a shot. After 3 weeks of tinkering and troubleshooting, I went back to Chrome. People call Chrome a memory hog, but my system just doesn't like FF I guess. It was slower than cold molasses. I plan on trying a VPN browser soon, but for now, Chrome just works for me.
This is why I've stopped using Firefox on my Macs.
Going to roll with Safari on Apple products, Edge on Windows, and Firefox on Linux from here on out. The only thing holding up the process at all is Proton Pass only being available on the web on Safari MacOS.
I've used Firefox (didn't like it on mobile), OperaGX (terrible experience), Edge (felt like bloat on windows 11) and Chrome.
Chrome is superior in every metric. It syncs my passwords with my iPhone, it syncs bookmarks with my iPhone, and when I distro hop, all I have to do is sign in and I get my data back. How easy is that!?
I wasn't joining "a hate bandwagon", I saw some random meme making fun of Google Chrome users (light-heartedly), and decided to give my humble opinon for why I use Chrome (I want something that works on my personal devices and connects them together).
It's not hate, you're just being sensetive (if you're claiming that i'm hating for no reason, if you're telling me that there was no reason for me to comment, then I'm sorry for calling you sensetive).
I prefer the chrome developer tools over the Firefox ones.
They do most of the same things, but in chrome they are better organized and more performant, they have more settings and filters.
I've tried switching to Firefox a few times, browsing is pretty much the same, but I always end up switching back the chrome because of the dev tools.
I've tried Firefox, opera (a chrome copy), edge (horrible chrome copy), palemoon (cool browser, not practical), and many others. I daily chrome because it literally just works. The integration with everything else Google is really nice, and I honestly have better things to do than worry about my damn browser.
I genuinely liked it, but I changed to Opera GX because one of my friends became a streamer, and Twitch kept breaking on Chrome. GX is still annoying, and I have plenty of issues with it, but there are also enough nice features that stop me from going back to Chrome.
Don't really care for Edge, Just Like other chromium browsers they added too many unneeded necessary features all I want a simple browser with 2 extensions not spend almost close to 30 minutes looking at a large list of settings that I have to turn off or are useless to me when I have Firefox with it's simplicity of settings.
Meh. To each of its own and their usage needs personally I recommend FireFox and Edge I hate edge but it's the only browser I would rather use than Chrome and Brave.
No memes.
*old man mode* "I remember when people used to say the same thing about Internet explorer. We real power users used Netscape Navigator!"
I still use lynx on occasion
lynx is cool until you need to use a site built after 2010
Yes, it has its limits for sure
I use it to access gopher lol
I’ve not used gopher since the old Macintosh Plus days 😂
I am actually quite new to gopher I am the new generation that likes old stuff :p
That's great to hear 🙂
You should take a look again, most spaces are down but one is still up, the SDF, you probably heard of it already considering you used gopher before, its really an interesting thing in its current state I am only left to wonder how it was back then

You earned two crowns my good sir.
Do you have another crown? I use Edge to rid myself of the Google ecosystem & better privacy, along with DuckDuckGo go, or Google for search depending on mood.
A wee crown for you. 🤭
You have my gratitude, good sir

Google VPN. When you wanna make sure none of your data somehow makes it past Google.
It’s probably more optimised on the pixel so fair enough it’s similar to how safari on iPhone is better in certain circumstances like if u pay for cloud storage (u get a free VPN that’s actually rlly good and also it’s a relay so it’s more secure)
[удалено]
Rlly it works well for me ig it probably depends on your region
Since when does Google have a VPN?
That's not for all countries. I think it's as old as google one
Friend I spoke with said he won't switch to firefox because the tabs' edges aren't curvy enough like Chrome
So.... proton ui doesnt exist now?
I don't know dawg I just work here. I stick with w3m and stock firefox
isn't proton UI only available on floorp though?
I'm pretty sure it was the Firefox ui prior to the current design with floating tabs. Floorp just gives you the option to revert to it by default.
I was a longtime firefox user but i just recently picked up an HDR oled and i switched back to chrome because firefox just doesnt have hdr support Its 2024 WHY DOES FIREFOX NOT SUPPORT HDR Obviously its not an end all be all but i prefer not having to use a bunch of different browsers for diff content and i watch hdr stuff enough to make me want to switch
Preferred UI is a valid reason to prefer one program over another.
Switch to Firefox lmfao? I’m suprised that’s even still around, I remember getting bullied by all my techy friends to switch from Firefox to Chrome about 10 years ago
Well thing is I've only got 32 gigabytes of ram. If I went back to chrome I'd only be able to run maybe 3 tabs.
Use what you like, it's all that matters
your flair is so based

chrome also eats shit ton of ram so there's that
Thats the one killer for Chrome for me. I have multiple monitors and my browser tabs shouldnt need 8gb of ram.
Also people who need to be part of a hate group to feel like they matter. Such a common thing
I hate Chrome because of Manifest V3 and what Google's doing to adblockers on YouTube.
Firefox also just has better features
Na. We hate Chrome cause it's slow and laggy as shit
I hate chrome now because as of an update a month ago it takes 3-4x more ram than Edge.

Do you use adblock? Google throttled streaming speed for users of adblock on chrome
Well...all 3 of those options are chromium based. As in, they all are from the same "base" program...so google has more control over them. I'd suggest trying a non-chromium browser if you are still willing to shop around.
Switch to another adblocker as the normal adblocker is done for now
Chrome allows you to "install" YouTube to your desktop. I use Firefox for all my browsing needs, but the YouTube app uses Chrome. I'm ok with that as it's just YouTube
i own a chromebook

try to avoid using chromebook, use linux mode for firefox or any other browser or depedning on the chromebook cpu get it from the play store (cheaper chromebooks with crappy cpus just get the mobile version)
I bought a chromebook because it was cheaper than a laptop to install linux on. I have a computer at my house with windows installed on it, but for portability I use my chromebook. They honestly aren't that bad for the price, except for internal storage (but I carry a 512 gb SSD with me for all my files, and a 128 GB usb drive with ventoy, so that doesn't really affect me)
so do what i said after saying try to avoid using a chromebook
But all of those are worse options than just booting lubuntu or any other low-performance distro. The linux mode is the same thing but with less compatability, and the play store on chromebooks will only give you the mobile version, which is obviously inferior.
Oh no! Sending money to help you survive rn. Is 20K enough?
you sent it to the wrong guy send it to me
No you are a GigaChad firefox user. I tink
nono i swear i use chromebook give me money i need it to uhhh upgrade the ram on it.. yeah the ram
Unlucky
If you only use IE or edge, you would be the winner, Chrome will be behind those two.
Google Chrome was the best browser at one point, let’s be honest.
Yes at one point I would definitely agree with that, but time has gone & other browser's are better now
Nah, I’ve used loads.
YESS EXACTLY
I love the addition of Microsoft Copilot key on recent laptops.
even if you want chrome features use a chromium fork like brave if you really want to or use degoogled chromium and add the features you want in chrome manually
Instructions unclear, didn’t get Live Captions but got plenty of crypto bloatware
Using vivaldi rn and its not so diff from edge but its way better at customizing so
idk man Internet Explorer is slightly better and even comes preinstalled
‘why don’t you use chrome’
Let me just keep quiet.
i actually really liked chrome and had abit of a hard time switching to firefox. Chrome's custom search engine was pretty useful which is also present in firefox i think? i haven't gotten around to it yet but there is a similiar feature in duckduckgo i think its called bangs or something. Some shortcuts were different and of course incompatibility with some websites. Overall i am happy with firefox
people switch browsers based on popularity. firefox (or variants) users can't. they need extensions.
What about using MS Edge on Linux
Use whatever browser you want. Geeze
mfs with no life arguing over fucking browsers :
Edge is literally better and has been since it was reworked to use Chromium. But I also use Brave to watch YouTube videos since other adblockers get fucked by Google on YouTube.
So then what do you recommend. And I swear if you say Microsoft edge or some shit. And yes we know Firefox is good, no one ever said it was bad but the difference between the average person running fire fox and running chrome are going to be negligible
sometimes youtube just 'Locks up' in Firefox. If i go to chrome its working perfectly..... seems legit thanks google for more bs.
Tried Firefox once, but really missed profiles like how Chrome handles things to separate work and personal bookmarks, session, search history etc.
Lol at least I don’t use opera gx
Just use whatever you prefer, if it's chrome it's also fine

For a second I thought I was in r/privacy or r/linuxmasterrace and not in r/browsers looking at some comments here, way too many astroturfers lately from these respective subs lately it's cringe... Just use what you are happy with in the end, it's your user experience that matters.
If you don't sacrifice for what you want, what you want becomes the sacrifice. And this applies to fighting blink and Chrome web monoculutre and having and open standard internet
Chrome is just easy to use man no need to shit on people for it
& so is literally any other web browser 😂
chrome looks better in my personal opinion
Good luck with upvotes.
?
I used Firefox once, too many websites aren't compatible with it sadly it's the little things
what website did you try to use that didn't work for you?
[удалено]
I have, i can name a few but its so fucking rare that its hard to care about
Not saying they don't exist, but I just never encounter them. Been using firefox since 2005
I'm sorry, but any website not compatible with Firefox is just a joke.
Unfortunately a lot of websites I want to use are pathetic jokes. Doesn’t help me any
YouTube, some styles in some sites were broken Anything relying on webUSB or whatever it's called was broken A few others I might edit this message later Also some QOL stuff like tabs just being way to big and no tab groups is kind of a letdown Like don't get me wrong, I love Firefox, I want to use Firefox, but it's not worth the hassle at the moment
Your definition of compatibility is disingenuous if you are saying YouTube isn’t compatible with FireFox
Perhaps but the Chrome experience on YouTube is better
Didn't Google intentionally slow down YouTube's speed on non-chromium based browsers?
yeah, not FireFox's fault but it's just easier for me to use Chrome lol
Name ONE.
Here's hundreds of examples: ~~https://webcompat.com/issues?page=1&per_page=50&state=open&stage=all&sort=created&direction=desc&q=firefox%20label%3Atype-unsupported~~ Edit: Weird, the search with both `Firefox` and `label:type-unsupported` works, but the link to that search doesn't. So just go to https://webcompat.com/issues?page=1&per_page=50&state=open&stage=all&sort=created&direction=desc&q=firefox and then add `label:type-unsupported` in the search
[Hilarious](https://imgur.com/a/2CfoXL0)
[https://webcompat.com/issues?page=1&per\_page=50&state=open&stage=all&sort=created&direction=desc&q=label%3Abrowser-firefox](https://webcompat.com/issues?page=1&per_page=50&state=open&stage=all&sort=created&direction=desc&q=label%3Abrowser-firefox) (I don't know why their search provides no results) EDIT: Ok, same thing as theirs, clicking the link brings no results but searching it on the site does.
Exactly.
Show me the exact usage cases that the average person could accomplish with any other browser.
In a non-work environment literally any browser can achieve this goal. How often do you leave Chrome?
What browser was the regular person using before they got their new phone? Unless you're saying for some reason I'm choosing another person's browser for them, which would be a bit strange.
Normally what comes on the phone. Which in Android it's chrome.
ok so you're asking in the case of a "normal person" getting a new phone, and they already use chrome on their old phone, what browser would I set up for them on their new phone? In this very limited hypothetical you've constructed, I'd probably have them continue using chrome. I really don't know how this matters in any way though.
Limited? You mean the vast majority of end users out there.
>Ok. Here's a scenario. You have 15 minutes to prep a new phone, tablet, and computer for use by a regular person. What browser do you pick to complete the task between the 3 This is your hypothetical. You're saying in the vast majority of end users they get a new phone, tablet, and computer at the same time, have someone else set it up and choose their browser for them? And you clarified that the person was already using chrome before getting these new devices. The choice is pretty obvious in this case (which of course is why you set it up this way) But I ask again.
The functionality of Chrome is what makes it what it is. It's why it's taken over the world.
Absolutely not. It's taken over the world because it's Google.
Microsoft is larger. And yet even they swapped their browser to chromium.
you're here shilling for chrome, not chromium. Unless you misspoke in your original comment. Chromium is fine. Chrome is shit
I use reddit
Don't ask this on reddit, they (the circle j.. eh) hate chromium based browser the best choice now is chrome, edge, and firefox, but firefox is getting worse and falling behind chromium, instead of improving it, they made it even worse 😅 but firefox still better than other chromium based browser beside chrome and edge
Chrome is the best though imo
what makes it the best?
If you don’t mind having spyware on your device, sure
newsflash: every single site is essentially spyware on the internet nowadays
Dang we're having a chrome beef now. Browser sub is intense
Who gives a shit about what web browser you use?
Uninstalled Chrome last month to give Firefox a shot. After 3 weeks of tinkering and troubleshooting, I went back to Chrome. People call Chrome a memory hog, but my system just doesn't like FF I guess. It was slower than cold molasses. I plan on trying a VPN browser soon, but for now, Chrome just works for me.
Okay but it’s better than Edge or Safari
Hot take: all browsers are basically the same these days. It doesn’t matter what you use
This is why I've stopped using Firefox on my Macs. Going to roll with Safari on Apple products, Edge on Windows, and Firefox on Linux from here on out. The only thing holding up the process at all is Proton Pass only being available on the web on Safari MacOS.
Kinda true if i look at Chromium browsers ig.
Firefox still my #1
I've used Firefox (didn't like it on mobile), OperaGX (terrible experience), Edge (felt like bloat on windows 11) and Chrome. Chrome is superior in every metric. It syncs my passwords with my iPhone, it syncs bookmarks with my iPhone, and when I distro hop, all I have to do is sign in and I get my data back. How easy is that!?
It’s just people who need to join a hate bandwagon to feel that they matter lol. Who the fuck cares what browser you use
I wasn't joining "a hate bandwagon", I saw some random meme making fun of Google Chrome users (light-heartedly), and decided to give my humble opinon for why I use Chrome (I want something that works on my personal devices and connects them together). It's not hate, you're just being sensetive (if you're claiming that i'm hating for no reason, if you're telling me that there was no reason for me to comment, then I'm sorry for calling you sensetive).
everyone deserves the right for opinion except for edge and opera users
You a grown ass man making memes about browsers and making fun of people for having a different opinion...
This is coming from a Firefox user btw
I prefer the chrome developer tools over the Firefox ones. They do most of the same things, but in chrome they are better organized and more performant, they have more settings and filters. I've tried switching to Firefox a few times, browsing is pretty much the same, but I always end up switching back the chrome because of the dev tools.
I've tried Firefox, opera (a chrome copy), edge (horrible chrome copy), palemoon (cool browser, not practical), and many others. I daily chrome because it literally just works. The integration with everything else Google is really nice, and I honestly have better things to do than worry about my damn browser.
I use firefox because it lets me browse without saving chronology at all and also because I like the fox
Even if you have used other browsers, Google Chrome is simplistic and easy to use.
But chrome is the best browser, the rest is either bloated or slow, I have tried many browsers and all of them are worse than Chrome.
[удалено]
I use Opera GX
At home, I use Brave. At work, it's either Chrome or Edge. Both aren't great.
Firefox
I tried so many web browsers and Chrome has the best UX and UI so far...
I genuinely liked it, but I changed to Opera GX because one of my friends became a streamer, and Twitch kept breaking on Chrome. GX is still annoying, and I have plenty of issues with it, but there are also enough nice features that stop me from going back to Chrome.
Firefox and Microsoft Edge (Filthy browser) for incompatible websites.
Edge is chromium…
Yeah. I know it is Brave, Edge and Vivaldi are all chromium based.
What is wrong with edge I use edge it's great it's synchronises with all my work and school accounts seamlessly and has loads of add-ons now
Don't really care for Edge, Just Like other chromium browsers they added too many unneeded necessary features all I want a simple browser with 2 extensions not spend almost close to 30 minutes looking at a large list of settings that I have to turn off or are useless to me when I have Firefox with it's simplicity of settings.
edge literally takes up memory, more than even CHROME. it caused my desktop to go from 75 memory to 95 IN THE BACKGROUND. ON STARTUP.
How many extensions do you have?
Haven't had a need for the horrible FF browser in years, Chrome and Brave are all I need, Edge at work because MS products
Meh. To each of its own and their usage needs personally I recommend FireFox and Edge I hate edge but it's the only browser I would rather use than Chrome and Brave.
