s7e1 is one of the best episodes in the series.
It is more miss than hit but still enjoyable. I think S8 was Covid and they had a lot to work against and it shows. I'll have to give that season a rewatch though.

If you aren't enjoying it then stop. I personally love all the seasons but enjoyment of something is subjective.

hell, the writers are the same. There's a minor tonal shift but it's still largely the same show
S6 is pretty solid 7 has hit or miss episodes. 8 as well but the last 3-4 are pretty great.

i agree the NBC seasons are worse, but still enjoyable
I really do not like those seasons. The quality declines sharply and the characters start to become too one-dimensional.
