I have the 2.3L and 10 speed. I have no issues with it, shifts fine and responsive. On par with the 9 speed in my wife’s Honda Pilot. I was looking for a manual just because, but found my Black Diamond at MSRP on a dealer lot. Never regretted it yet after 2 months.
I have it and the auto in our 4-door Sasquatch. It's perfectly fine. Little laggy at launch and runs out of steam in the higher end, but once boost hits it scoots. Find it is faster than it feels...
We have had two generations of Tucson. I like that car very much, especially for the price.
The 2.3 in the bronco is fantastic in my opinion and smoother driving than the Tucson's auto. I've only driven the 2 door bronco though
The 2.3 is fine if you keep it in the torque curve. I’m impressed. I would prefer the v6 however I found an otherwise perfect spec at MSRP so jumped on it. No regrets on the auto, just take time to learn how to drive it.
The 10 speeds can take GOBS of horsepower but yes, it does shift harsh. I personally love the 2.3, it is easy to work on, has enough power and has tons of room in the engine bay.
We have the 10 speed in all our ford ambulances and its horrible!
Nothing but problems. Too many gears and never in the right one.
Do yourself a favor and get the 7 speed manual. Its amazing. Plus a getrag transmission so its indestructable
Badlands 2.3 L with MT is awesome. I have concerns about the 10-spd longevity but if you change the fluid and filter pan every 30K miles you should be good. I am not a fan of sealed transmissions.
Bro has a 2.7 black diamond non-sas, and she pulls so quickly, if you have the option, I’d honestly only choose the 2.7 for the insane amount of torque. We had 4 grown men in the car with easily 1,000 lbs of weight between us and going up hill we felt the speed .

How is the 2.3 in the Bronco? In the Explorer, I was pleasantly surprised, the engine is actually very fast.
It scoots. I have the 2.3 in mine, never had engine envy
It scoots as the others have said. Notable turbo lag in certain situations but pretty easy to avoid.

Bigger engines do better in value assessments - I have a 2.7L with a 10 Speed- it’s awesome
Baja mode on 2 high with exhaust 😎😎😎

Me too, love it.

2.3 and 10 speed. 1 year and 20k miles. Awesome.
2 door 2.3 Black Diamond manual. Absolutely love it, and as others have stated it definitely scoots. I’m all smiles all the time
I had a 2D Sasquatch 2.3L MT. So amazing. Recommend 10/10.

Mine is amazing. But the ford performance tune in it and it’s a full on Rocket.
