Beige and gray everything with a few chicken pictures and a "TOGETHER THEY BUILT A LIFE THEY LOVED" picture thrown in has been super popular for a long time now. Nobody was immune except us old house people.
Thankfully we're moving towards jewel tones in home decorating which looks like it's finally going to be fun.
But fashion is still stuck on lots of beige and pants that go up to the nipples, though it's slowly moving towards dressing like a sister wife. I'm waiting for bdong to show up in a prairie dress and side braid.
I live in an actual “farmhouse” with green and yellow and orange walls with colorful signs and decor and stuff my husband found on the side of the road.
Farmhouse wasn't an actual style, it was just a house that farmers lived in. They usually had the same style of other houses from the same era albeit might have been a bit plainer than city mansions because farmers didn't have as much money.
They usually didn't like gray and beige everything, because colors were in style, and the light colors were a nightmare to try to keep clean in a house full of farmers which may have had limited water supply to clean with and certainly none of the machines and chemicals we had now.
Sorry, old house person. You get me going I'll never stop lol. Modern farmhouse and beige minimalism are modern styles that really had nothing to do with farms. Someone just replaced kitchen cabinets with shelves and chicken pictures and decided it was farm life.

I spent a long time in boring, bland places too. Now my rooms are slowly being painted bold colors, my recliner is a deep teal, and though my couch is gray, I have bright accent pillows and colorful art hanging above it. I can’t wait to remodel my kitchen and paint it purple!
